Story
Hello, my name is Penelope and I,m a tan mountain cur mix. I was running around lost and this nice man picked me up and brought me here, thank you mister, I feel a whole lot safer.  I am 2 years old and still have oodles of life left in me.  I pray to have someone come and get me and take me to my forever home, maybe that could be you!  I will make a wonderful companion for you and your family.  I will be faithful, loyal but most of all I will give you all my love.  Please come in and check me out or you can look me and all the other animals that need good, safe, loving homes on their web site.   If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2155017##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Daily eye drops for glaucomaJerzy is a beautiful brindle and white female, guessed to be 5 years old.  She is a perfect medium sized dog with some delicate features in her sweet face and thin legs and weighs just around 45 pounds.  Jerzy can be slow to open up to new people before she shows her goofy and smart side, but your patience will be rewarded by this lovable girl once she starts to show you her true personality!  Jerzy would love a home with no children and she will be best suited with no kitties. An owner that will love to walk and exercise her daily will enjoy how well she walks on a leash.  She may possibly enjoy the company of an easy-going, playful medium sized male dog as well! A secure yard would be an added bonus for Jerzy as well! Jerzy is super smart and has mastered her basic skills and moved on to trick training!    Jerzy's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a free basic training course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.  If you would like to meet Jerzy, please submit an adoption application through our website for consideration, www.Adopthope.org.  Last Hope requires that potential adopters with a history of owning animals demonstrate that they have kept them altered, as indoor pets only and kept current on annual vaccinations/testing.  Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Lucy is a bouncy, happy-go-lucky girl who still thinks she's a puppy. She adores all people, especially children. She's very picky about her doggie friends, though. She tends to get along well with male dogs of any size who are calm. She definitely isn't a fan of felines.   Lucy needs a family who can commit to her ongoing training to help her understand that the humans are number one which helps her not to feel compelled to protect them. She knows several commands and is completely housebroken; she does not require a kennel when home alone.    She does need a physically-fenced yard to keep her from chasing kitties and other outdoor animals. She walks relatively well on a leash, but she could use more work with this. She loves to be near her people and has a favorite bed and afghan that she sleeps on which will come with her.   Lucy's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip and current vaccinations and preventatives. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Please submit an adoption application for consideration at Adopthope.org.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm
