Story
Ollie is estimated to be about 8 months old (9-24). We sure think he looks like a Mountain Cur. This breed is considered rare but are quite common in South. His foster reports that is much calmer and more gentle than expected. He is great puppy manners! The Mountain Curs are well-loved family dogs who thrive in the right environment, getting along great with kids and other dogs. Their high energy levels make them best suited for an active family where ample exercise and mental stimulation will be provided. Mountain Curs are known for their intelligence, tenacity, and high energy levels. Thanks to their history of working side-by-side with pioneers, they have a strong work ethic and thrive when given a job to do.Their short, dense coat requires minimal grooming, making them a relatively low-maintenance breed. However, their high energy levels mean they need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Mountain Cur dogs do best in a home with an active, outdoorsy family who spends their weekends hiking, hunting, or just hanging out in their fenced-in yard. This dog is sheltered in a foster based, nonprofit rescue. The Adoption Fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. Story
Sweet Pea - Female Mountain Cur/Hound/Lab Mix (BREED IS BEST GUESS ONLY) Current weight 38 pounds Estimated Date of Birth 6/1/23 Meet Sweet Pea (Black mouth Cur/ Hound mix) Is Sweet Pea made of sugar? Could be! She certainly is full of love for people, dogs, food, and playtime. She bounces and bounds with happiness but will moderate her energy to match her playmate. Fenced in yard highly recommended and would do well in an active family. She loves playing, walking. Though not fond of the crate she will eventually settle when in it. She’s a very quick learner and with being food motivated training is coming along quite quickly. She loves all people and has zero issues with other dogs. (Cats unknown) Here’s what her foster family has to say about her. Sweet Pea is a sweet and affectionate beauty looking for her furever home. She is great with other dogs, her foster family recommends a doggie sibling close to own age and size for play because this girl loves to play! She is intelligent and learns quickly. She has been a very good girl for her foster family and could make a great addition for your family!… If Sweet Pea sounds like a great fit for your family please visit the rescue website www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org for requirements, process and applications. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training. If you are gone for more than a couple hours at a time, please consider adopting a teen or older dog. 5. Adoption fees are $400.00. We accept Zelle, Cash or Checks. (Prices are subject to change without notice). 6. All dogs and puppies adopted through Forever Home are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines. Keep in mind once you take possession of your newly adopted dog, any and all future medical costs or care is YOUR responsibility. 7. A deposit of an extra 50.00 will be required until a class has been completed, it will then be returned. 8. Story
This girl was found as a stray and her owners refused to come pick her up so she is in search of another home. She is a sweet lady, a bit shy, but friendly. She is out of any puppy energy phase but does still like to play and she does get the zoomies. She was house-trained so would need to relearn it. She does well in a car and is okay on a leash. She does not get along with smaller dogs and probably not a fan of cats. She will need time to warm up to a person but is just a sweetheart when she knows you! She would be wonderful as a walking companion and lounge buddy. She is in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders.
