Story
Meet Jake Jake is a handsome young mountain cur / retriever mix. Sadly, our Jake has been with us over a year now, which is way too long! Jake LOVES people. He is happiest when he can be with them. His eyes shine and he smiles. His body gets all wiggly in anticipation of pets or a game of fetch. This little guy is incredibly sweet and affectionate. Jake has a beautiful soft coat. He’s a medium size dog, currently weighing 50 pounds. He walks well on a leash. He loves playing in the yards and a containment fence will be important for him. He loves retrieving a tennis ball and would play all day if he could. He is energetic and is eager to be out and about hiking, walking, running or riding in a car. That said he has a calm and mindful demeanor. He is a super smart. He knows some basic commands and we think he is house-trained. Jake is looking for his special person or family to bond with. This young handsome doggo is amazing and deserves a second chance at a loving life. Jake will thrive in a home environment. The quiet and consistency of a real home will do wonders for him. Jake does not like other dogs or kitties though, so will need to be an only pet. If interested in Jake, please submit a dog application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
A shy dog who is always nervous around new people. With time and patience, Peppa started to open up and enjoy new experiences. She is a kind loving dog, loves kids and playing with other dogs and cats. She will make a great companion for anyone looking for a new best friend. Me and my children will miss her so much but we are welcoming a new bundle of joy into our lives and won’t be able to give Peppa the attention she deserves and is used to. :( Hopefully she can go from one great family or owner to another one. Thanks for all of your support!
