Story
Meet Reba! This sweet and incredibly smart girl is sure to steal your heart. While she may be a bit timid at first, you'll see progress with each passing day as she starts to feel safe and comfortable. During her first few days, Reba appreciates a calm space where she can quietly observe her new surroundings - a crate or cozy corner will do just fine. Reba is amazing with her bathroom manners, learning quickly to go outside. She just needs a little guidance at first, like a long leash to give her space and confidence. Though shy with new people, Reba wants to make a connection. She feels most comfortable when you're at her level, whether sitting on the floor or a chair. By day three, you'll likely find her approaching you for gentle pets and belly rubs - her favorite! She loves affection once she's comfortable, especially face rubs and cuddles. Reba adores toys and has a fun, quirky habit of chasing tennis balls and gathering them into a little pile. She may not bring them back just yet, but she certainly loves the game! Reba learns quickly from other dogs and is never confrontational, just playful and curious. She's picked up skills like using a doggy door by watching her canine friends. While Reba's a fan of her crate when you're nearby, she's quite the escape artist if left alone in it. After some trial and error, she settled happily sleeping at the foot of the bed, which seemed to suit her just right. Reba is truly a loving and gentle soul who's ready to blossom in a patient and understanding home. Are you ready to be her person?

Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay via Zelle, PayPal, or cash. Makes you want to break just down & just cry thinking about Lucy, how she ended up in a slaughterhouse for human consumption & yes you did read that correctly in China. What we do know is she was pulled out of there by our outstanding Chinese rescuer just in time. It’s absolutely soul destroying to think about the horrific situation he ended up in. Working with one of our truly devoted, dedicated & absolutely outstanding Chinese rescuers she rescued Lucy & many others for us. Without this beloved rescuer going in & getting Lucy out, her fate was a torturous death. She transferred Lucy to her own rescue & covid had hit & the waiting began. Along with Lucy & many other sweet souls he got well & they waited to come to the US. This became a very extremely expensive situation with covid. We were finally able to bring everyone back through cargo which is an astronomical expense per dog, but we believe every sweet soul such as Lucy & her friends deserves to be loved & cherished & given the chance to have a wonderful life. Now Lucy is looking for a special family to cherish her & be patient with her & remember what this beautiful soul has been through & a family that meets all her needs. Lucy was rescued by our truly amazing Chinese rescue friends & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Chinese rescue who we are so extremely thankful for what they do day in & day out for these babies, we cannot thank them enough. Lucy was bought back to the USA where she is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. This tiny little lady is such a sweetheart of a little miss. She is just so happy & grateful all the time. Clearly in China they were vicious to our sweetheart Lucy. It is so unfathomable to think that anyone could be so cruel to our beautiful Lucy, but they were. She is such a lovely, soft & gentle little lady. She maybe a little shy at first with some people. Our vets said she was such a good girl while she was with them & so easy & friendly. She almost lost his his precious life in China & was so very close & deserves the very best loving forever home. From her pictures you can see she loves life & wants to be held & loved & give love. She has enjoyed eating since he has been here in the US, but let’s face it, being fed the way we are feeding her is all new to her & just being fed all the time is new to her. We have to be careful with Lucy to not over feed her as her belly can back with fecis if she is over fed. We first thought Lucy was pregnant after several weeks of having her & got x-rays done on her to make sure she wasn’t & her belly was full of fecis from over eating & our vets thought perhaps she had a hiatal hernia & needed to see a specialist who we took her to see & no, she just needs to not over eat. The specialist did find that Lucy has a small involuntary head movement probably from being hit in China to breed. She also said that she had a stomach severely distended with food, she suspected that she had the appearance of a hernia induced by food bloat. Our vet also discovered that poor Lucy had been debarked, the heinous act of taking away her beautiful voice in China. Lucy has done amazing walking on a harness & leash & done so well with us so far but would still need continued work. She gets very excited when on her walks. Lucy is a rescue & will need patience, time & understanding. Lucy adores being pampered & doesn’t want you to stop when brushing her, touching her, she loves it all & being picked up & cuddled. She also does amazing & being groomed. She also does extremely well being touched in general. We have had her with many breeds of dogs & she has done well with different size dogs & adores dogs so we are only looking for a home for her with another dog in the home she can play with. Lucy also did so well with our vets when she went for her dental & spay. She likes to be wherever you are. Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Lucy & we have been excited to change her world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment. Lucy has learnt to ride in the car & does well in the car & has so much excitement for a good car ride & gets excited each time we put him in the car to go with us. She is such an amazing, fun happy little miss. With Lucy we are only looking for a crate free home for this lovely little lady only, as she has spent who knows how long of her previous life in a crate. We are also looking for a forever home for Lucy where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. Lucy is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be very patient with her & understanding. Lucy has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & she is currently with other dogs & enjoys their company so we are looking for a home where she can be with another dog or other dogs in the home. We currently have her with other dogs. A fully fenced backyard is mandatory for Lucy’s new forever home. Lucy is now roughly 12.6 lbs he is 7 years old & perhaps a miniture schnauzer, what she is mixed with we are not sure? We took Lucy to a specialist to make sure she did not have a hiatal hernia which she did not. Unfortunately she was debarked in China. She is spayed by laser by our wonderful vets, she had blood work done along with x-rays. She had a dental scale, polish, along with dental x-rays, gum surgery, had a total of 14 teeth removed, had 2 incisors removed, 4 molars minor removed, 4 modular intermediate removed & 3 premolar minor removed, she is heart worm negative, she is microchipped, up to date on her shots, had her shots including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Lucy with bringing her to the US with her travel airfare costs, alone bringing her through cargo, without anything else then on top of that paying for her medical care & boarding fees, blood work, x-rays, including a dental/scale & polish. Spay by laser, shots, microchip, etc, than her adoption fee comes close to covering. Lucy has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals. We have not had her around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats. But it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Lucy was conceived so we do not know who her parents were, nor her true birth date & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Lucy’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Lucy potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Lucy & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit using Webex due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Lucy who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for this lovely sweet happy little lady. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Lucy has an adoption fee of $995 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.

The evil for these amazing souls is never ending. The precious Max, mind body & soul was being used as a breeding machine in a puppy mill in Missouri to make money off his back. The breeder called him B & H Little man Max. We are calling him Mr Max. We were able to bid on him & in fact bought him to stop having a life of misery over & over again for evil human beings to make money off him. Living his life outside in the stinking heat day after day then in the freezing cold in winter time in a metal tin can of a shed was over. His life was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. On this day we rescued a total of 6 schnauzer breeding mum & dads who all they knew was to breed in a life of hell & then being sold. Of course when we rescue these amazing souls they have had no veterinary care whatsoever & we have to start from scratch. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Max how he is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home. Max was bought back to the WA state where he now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home. The horror he endured on his little body & mind all to make money off his back is so disgusting. After everything he has been through he is still a lovely soul. For everything he has been through, he adapted quite quickly to his very devoted foster home. He is beyond grateful to get out of that hell hole he was in & radiates a zest for life. Max lets you pick him up & lets you give him kisses & hugs. The reality is, the foster homes are his real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding he can snuggle up in, a roof over his head that’s not outside. Max’s foster dad said. Max is such a sweetheart, after his 3rd night he was still very timid, but is warming up to us and wants to be in whatever room we are in - this morning he was waiting outside the bathroom for me. This was many weeks ago. He marked a couple of times when we first got home but other than that has been going potty, including all his poops, outside! He peps up a bit when we go outside, really likes exploring in the courtyard, and has made friends with the puppy in the building. He likes ear & butt scratches, is a little curious about toys & balls, but mostly wants to find a comfy spot to lay. This morning over the course of about 30 mins he moved from one corner of the couch to the other side to be close to Benjamin. Benjamin is his foster brother. His foster dad also said, he does not react to their virtual work meetings this morning & will definitely be a good WFH buddy or office companion for a (quiet) dog-friendly workplace.  He has continued to blossom & come out of his shell. He loves treats, has really gotten used to his potty schedule, & we have taken him to the dog park a few times & he has showed great enthusiasm running around & playing.  We would love to see him find a forever home that is the perfect fit for him. We also know that Mr Max loves his foster mum. He adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something he did not get to experience ever until he was rescued. He is such a gentle little soul who just wants to be loved & to make up for his past. He would still need work walking on his harness & leash as it’s all completely new to him considering he was never ever taught until coming into the rescue. In his foster home he explores the fully fenced courtyard & gets to play in. He does not discriminate against breeds. Max’s new forever home must have a fully fenced backyard. He has always been with other dogs & he adores other dogs so in his forever home another dog or dogs is mandatory in his forever home for him to have his best life. Max rides beautifully in the car & considering the only times we know of was when he went to auction to be sold & when we got him & going home with his foster family & he has done so amazing in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lad only. He spent his whole life confined for breeding & runs from a crate now if he sees one. He refuses to go near it. Max as you can imagine spent such a long time in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Max where someone is home during the day or he can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. Max is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him & never give up on him. Max has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in her foster home & she is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. Max needs to go to a forever home with another dog or dogs in the home, he enjoys the company of other dogs & we currently have him with other dogs in his loving foster home. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Max is roughly 14 lbs, he is 6 years old. He is a parti schnauzer, what he is mixed with we are not sure, male, he is neutered by laser by our wonderful vets. He is microchipped, had a scale & polish along with dental x-rays & had multiple teeth removed including, gum surgery as his mouth was a mess. He had 3 minor molar, 6 & 4 incisors removed. He is up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Max with paying for him from a puppy mill auction in Missouri. Bringing him to WA with his travel costs, his flight fees flying him to WA. All of his medical care in WA including, dental scale & polish & many extractions etc & bringing him to WA than his adoption fee comes close to covering. His adoption fee does not even come close to covering half of what we have spent on Max. Max has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. Now Kaisa is looking for a special family to cherish her & be patient with her & remember what this beautiful soul has been through & a family that meets all her needs. Kaisa was rescued by our truly amazing Chinese rescue friends & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Chinese rescue who we are so extremely thankful for what they do day in & day out for these babies, we cannot thank them enough. Kaisa was bought back to the USA where she is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. This girl is so stunning inside & out & she has come along way since she arrived from China. The reality is she had to learn everything new here. We put her into a daycare & tested her with countless dogs & she has done amazing. She loves both woman & men. This girl is the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet. She is so forgiving. She just wants you to love her & she will love you back. She adores being hugged & held because the reality is we are the first real people in her life to show her such true love & affection. When she arrived she was absolutely putrid, it’s so sad with how stinking filthy she was. She was a little uncertain with her baths at first but once she realized everything was ok she really enjoyed them & did good being dried with the hairdryer. She is now used to be groomed also. Kaisa is still learning to walk on harness & leash considering we believe we are the first people to teach her how to go on walks but would still need to be taught. Kaisa has been taught to walk on a slip lead. Kaisa is a rescue & will need patience, time & understanding. Kaisa adores being pampered & doesn’t want you to stop when brushing her, cleaning her eyes, grooming her, she loves it all. She also does extremely well being touched in general & adores receiving love. Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Kaisa & we have been excited to change her world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment. She likes laying on you when she is with you or on comfy blankets. Kaisa has learnt to ride in the car & does well in the car & enjoys a good car ride. She is such an easy & sweet going, loving little lady. With Kaisa we are only looking for a crate free home for this lovely little lady only. Please do not apply with the intent to crate this girl. We are also looking for a forever home for Kaisa where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. Did we mention this girl loves a good outfit too. Kaisa is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be very patient with her & understanding. Kaisa has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & she is currently with other dogs & enjoys their company so we are looking for a home where she can be with another dog or dogs. She can be found at times snuggled up to her foster siblings. A fully fenced backyard is mandatory for Kaisa’s new forever home along with another dog friend. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take her to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory. Kaisa is now roughly 14 lbs & is 2 years old & female schnauzer & what she is mixed with we are not sure? She is spayed, she had a dental/scale & polish along with dental x-rays. He had gum surgery & 1 minor premolars, 1 incisor & 3 intermediate removed. She had a mammory mas tested with a biopsy but what was underneath was a hernia that was repaired. She is microchipped, up to date on her shot rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Kaisa with bringing her to the US with her travel airfare costs, $2200 alone, bringing her through NY into Seattle, without anything else then on top of that paying for her medical care & boarding fees, including a dental/scale & polish, shots, microchip etc, than her adoption fee comes close to covering. Kaisa has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals. We have have not had Kaisa with small children so we do not recommend children, but it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & animals. We were not there when Kaisa was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Kaisa’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Kaisa potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Kaisa & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. We will only be accepting applications for Kaisa who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for this lovely little lady. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Kaisa has an adoption fee of $1585 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
We'll also keep you updated on Toughy's adoption status with email updates.

Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees. The evil for these amazing souls is never ending. Toughy’s, mind body & soul was being used as a breeding machine in a puppy mill in Missouri to make money off his back. The breeder called him I am a toughy too. We are calling him Toughy. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Toughy how he is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home. Toughy was bought back to the WA state where he now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home. The horror he endured on his little body & mind all to make money off his back is so disgusting. After everything he has been through he is still a lovely soul. For everything he has been through, he adapted quite quickly to both of his devoted foster homes. He is beyond grateful to get out of that hell hole he was in & radiates a zest for life. Toughy lets you pick him up & lets you give him kisses & hugs. The reality is, the foster homes are his real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding he can snuggle up in, a roof over his head that’s not outside. He actually loves to be held & calms him as he does a nervous bark when he is uncertain or uncomfortable but to ease him he gets picked up & it makes him comfortable. Toughy’s foster families said Toughy is such a sweetheart & after he is comfortable & knows & trusts you he settles down. Finds comfort in dogs & is a little timid as first until he is comfortable. We also know that Toughy loved his foster mum. He adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something he did not get to experience ever until he was rescued. You will often find him snuggled up in a dog bed. He is such a gentle little soul who just wants to be loved & to make up for his past. He would still need work walking on his harness & leash as it’s all completely new to him considering he was never ever taught until coming into the rescue. In his foster home he got to explore the fully fenced courtyard. He does not discriminate against breeds. Toughy’s new forever home must have a fully fenced backyard. He has always been with other dogs & he adores other dogs so in his forever home another dog or dogs is mandatory in his forever home for him to have his best life. Toughy rides beautifully in the car once he knows you but can be a little nervous at first & considering the only times we know of was when he went to auction to be sold & when we got him & going home with his foster family & he has done so amazing in the car. He can be a nervous barker when in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lad only. He spent his whole life confined for breeding & runs from a crate now if he sees one. He refuses to go near it. Toughy as you can imagine spent such a long time in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Toughy where someone is home during the day or he can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. Toughy is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him & never give up on him. Toughy has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in her foster home & she is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. Toughy needs to go to a forever home with another dog or dogs in the home, he enjoys the company of other dogs & we currently have him with other dogs in his loving foster home. We have tested Toughy in a daycare & he does well in that environment. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Toughy is roughly 13 lbs, he is 7 years old. He is a schnauzer, what he is mixed with we are not sure, male, he is neutered by laser by our wonderful vets. He is microchipped, had a scale & polish along with dental x-rays & had multiple teeth removed including, gum surgery as his mouth was a mess. He had 1 minor molar, 10 incisors, 5 premolars & 1 intermediate removed. He is up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Toughy with paying for him from a puppy mill auction in Missouri. Bringing him to WA with his travel costs, his flight fees flying him to WA. All of his medical care in WA including, dental scale & polish & many extractions etc & bringing him to WA than his adoption fee comes close to covering. His adoption fee does not even come close to covering half of what we have spent on Toughy. Toughy has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Toughy was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Toughy’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Toughy who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this special sweet little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Toughy has an adoption fee of $1250 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
