Lili is a 4 year old, 15 lb Miniature Schnauzer/Shih Tzu mix (per her previous owner) who recently joined our rescue. She came to us when a co-worker of one of our fosters reached out for help because her owner had to leave the country to enter assisted living. Her foster mom shares that Lili is a total Velcro dog who wants to stay within a couple of feet of her person at all times. She absolutely loves being in a lap or snuggled right up next to someone. Lili is nervous around children so she will need an adult only home. She does well around other dogs but isn’t interested in playing and can become nervous around overly excited or hyper pups. She’s happiest with calm dogs who respect her space, and she will let them know if they get too close for comfort. Lili would also do just fine as an only dog, as she has been for the past three years. Lili is potty trained, though she may have a small piddle when she gets excited or scared. She can be a little nervous when first approached or picked up but warms up quickly once she feels safe. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night, although she would much prefer to be curled up in bed with her person. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Posey came all the way from Laredo, where only about 10% of their dogs get out safely. Posey is a year-old female Schnauzer, and weighs 15 lbs. - she needs to gain some weight as she is skin and bones. She is such a sweet girl. She gets along with other dogs but people is her "thing"...lol..she just wants to be around them and in their lap though she is just fine with other dogs too. She is just an amazing dog that traveled such a long way to get here. She told her foster Mom that she wants her Mom more than not and not crated or lociked up. She will show her unhappiness by being vocal...She is beautiful. Posey has been dignosed with dry eye so she will need drops for the rest of her sweet life.
