Story
Meet Bruce, the sweetest pup you'll ever meet! This adorable guy has had a tough past, but he's come out the other side with so much love to give. Bruce is a playful spirit who can entertain himself with toys and games, making him a joy to have around. He's also potty trained and comfortable in a crate, making him an easy addition to any household. Bruce absolutely loves belly rubs and cuddles, and he's a real snuggle bug once he feels safe and secure. While he may take a little time to adjust to a new environment, his sweet and gentle nature shines through once he feels at home. He gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats, although he can be a bit nervous around big or very energetic dogs. Bruce has a degenerative eye condition that will eventually lead to blindness, so he will need a bit of extra care. However, this won't stop him from living a full and happy life. With the right fit, Bruce will thrive and become an integral part of his new family. If you're looking for a loving companion who's ready to give and receive affection, Bruce might just be your perfect match. Bruce is a Male Miniature Schnauzer/Maltese Mix that we estimate to be born around 3/10/2016 and weighs 15 lbs.

Story
Two matching Schnauzer/wire-haired terrier mixes were found but were never reunited with their owner. They are SMALL DOGS that weigh 23 and 25 lbs. and stand about 15" tall. Both are young; a male and female, maybe about 2 years old?? They're a BONDED PAIR but also non-demanding, affectionate, playful, and are GOOD NATURED dogs that enjoy just hanging out. Separate from one another they become distressed, aloof, and less confident. They're HOUSEBROKEN and healthy and like to go for short walks in the morning and evening (we don't have a yard or fence.) They are fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped and ever since we found them, my husband and I say to each other, "It's such a shame these dogs are better behaved than our own!" Because separation could cause irrevocable harm, we expect the Adopter to agree they never be split up and if the Adopter should not want them for any reason during their lifetime, we expect both dogs be returned to us, so another suitable Adopter be found.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   Bite History! (minor)Nibbles is a GREAT dog! He loves to be the BOSS DOG and is protective of his humans. He devours and loves his squeaky toys and is a lovely addition.  This little nugget did get a bit 'defensive' and bit.  We don't know what the circumstances were surrounding the bite.  The shelter reports it was  'minor' bite.  We will tell you he presented as defensive and unfriendly at our vet.  We were able to administer an anti-anxiety drug to help him deal with the stress of being poked/prodded.  He was NOT happy about it, but we were able to get him vetted! We are working on helping him to learn trust.  His adopter will need to be prepared to continue this type of counter-conditioning to help him become less reactive  and more trusting and open to love. We have been able to crate him, and he does well in a crate.  He's a great little dog who will get along with females, but is male selective.    He can (and will) climb a baby gate.  He's really very sweet and loves to be loved.  He will roll over and show you his belly.   He dislikes strangers and his family will need to give him some time to decompress and learn to trust.   PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS DOG IF YOU HAVE OR PLAN TO GET ANOTHER MALE DOG  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 3:10 pm

Story
Pierce is a good looking boy straight from the streets of Houston. He is a wonderful, funny boy when he trusts you but trust is not something that comes easy for him. He has obviously been let down by humans his entire life. He is currently living with our trainer, who is helping him understand that humans can be good and trusted. Pierce is just about 2 years old, 60 pounds and maybe a schnauzer/husky mix. He needs an experienced handler who can continue to help him build h is confidence and trust in humans. Pierce is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. Pierce is currently heartworm positive but we will continue to cover treating him through the slow kill method. If you are interested in fostering or adopting this handsome guy, just fill out the appropriate application found at scoutshonor.org.     Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs November 5, 2024, 1:18 am

Story
Jolene (sometimes we call her Jo for short) is a happy, playful, and sweet dog. Jolene just wants to be where the people are, whether at home or on errands to Home Depot; she is just happy to be a part. She loves to go on walks, play with her foster brother and just observe the great outdoors. Her favorite toys to play with are sticks, tennis balls, and stuffed toys to carry around and show off. Her most recent love has been a treat reward ball to play with around the house for hours. Jolene is fully potty-trained and crate-trained. While Jolene is happy in a crate if needed, she also has gone to work with her foster mom and loved being able to assist her at work and meet her coworkers. Jolene could be your co-pilot on your next road trip or the newest sister to add to a family. Jolene is dog-friendly and loves people. This girl will be the best addition to an active home with a yard to run around in. Jolene is a Female Schnauzer Mix that we estimate to be born around 12/15/2023 and weighs 32 lbs.
