Meet Megan! Megan is a very shy dog who will need time to warm up and get comfortable.  She prefers to sleep and eat in her crate.  Megan gets along with other dogs but is timid when she first meets them so another calmer dog in the home would be best.  A fenced yard would be preferred since is can be so scared at first. Meet Clio! Clio is a quiet dog who would do best in a quieter environment.  She she timid at first but warms up quickly. Clio is a follower so it would be ideal to have another calm dog in the home to show her the ropes.  She loves being outside so a fenced yard would be preferred.   She gets along with other dogs and has been indifferent to the young child in her foster home.   Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications.   We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. Story
This sweet senior is Prince. He’s fully house and crate trained, good with cats and dogs.  He’s fully blind, and despite that will manage to follow you around the house 24/7. He is a very very clingy boy, that would definitely benefit in a home where he can be the center of attention. He’s very loving and affectionate, and wants nothing more than to be in your lap or be held all the time. Itwould be best if he went to a home that’s a little more on the quiet side, he doesn’t mind most noises, but any very loud abrupt sounds scare him a lot.  Also despite being a little older and not being able to see, he still has quite a bit of energy in him, and loves to play with the other dogs. Although like every senior dog, he still loves his nap time. Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications. Story
My name is MURPHY (SRC#3020) and I am about two (2) years old.  I weigh 14.5 pounds according to my last vet record.  I am a salt and pepper Male Mini Schnauzer with Natural Ears and a Natural Tail.    I am micro-chipped, have all my vaccinations, am heart-worm negative, been neutered and was adopted by my current family who are located in the Mooresville area.  I have been with them for about a year and as time went by I have become more hyper and did not seem to fit well into my adoptive family.  At first I was calm and easy to manage yet for some reason, I just do not seem happy with this family.  They love me enough to want me to be happy so they have decided that they should allow me to go to another family that will make me more settled.  I have had training from a trainer and learned sit and stay plus I am crate trained.  I get along very well with the other dog in my family yet I have never been exposed to cats so that is unknown.   MURPHY's  Story MURPHY with this unique identification number: (SRC#3020) came into his family's  care over a year ago.  Now he is being  prepared for adoption by them since he is not fitting well in their family environment now.  Initially he was calm and easily managed yet now he is hyper and seems unhappy so he needs a family environment where he will be relaxed and happy. We as his family have contacted SRC for help in finding MURPHY a family where he will fit in better.  As his initial family we just want him  to have that loving home he deserves. SRC has agreed to help with his adoption.   When ready for adoption this dog will be heart-worm  tested (negative), de-wormed, vaccinations brought up to date,  spayed/neutered if not done already, micro-chipped, examined fully by a vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have  been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release of this dog is at the discretion of the SRC Core Team.    MURPHYCURRENTLY LIVES IN THE MOORESVILLE AREA AND YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION IN ORDER TO PICK HIM UP THERE WHEN HE IS ADOPTED. Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for this dog is $450 PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING When ready for adoption, this canine will have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving  parents who will be able to give the potential adoptive parents  their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion  prior to the adoptive parents   finalizing   their adoption of this canine.    SRC strives to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. It is SRC's worthy mission to assure that each canine posted by them is placed in a loving, stable and permanent home whose family members will treat it as a beloved member of their immediate family. We are prepared to assure that all of  our rescued dogs are in great homes or we will reclaim them if necessary. SRC’s rescued dogs are  placed in foster homes throughout NC, SC, TN, and VA until they are adopted. These same states are SRC's approved adoption areas so please do not apply unless you live in one of these states. You must be willing to drive to the dog's foster home in order to adopt the canine. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio. BEFORE meeting an SRC dog, you must be approved to adopt by our Placement Team. Our downloadable Adoption Application is on the Homepage of our Website where you may also find our Foster Application and Volunteer Application should you want to use these instead.  Here is the address of our Homepage for you:    @    https://schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org/      Once you have completed the application, please include your vet medical records along with photos of your home (interior and exterior including your yard) -- these may be used in lieu of a home visit due to the problems with issues with the pandemic.  These changes have been initiated for the protection of our applicants and for our volunteers while we are dealing with Covid-19.  Once the virus has subsided to the point that people are not dying with this horrific virus, SRC will go back to our standard protocol with home visits being conducted. These will not be done until contagion is not an issue. The revised documentation may be submitted via email and/or fax (1-910-401-1317). You may request an Adoption Application to email address:  adoptions@schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org Upon receipt of your application, your medical records, and photos of your home (interior and exterior), the entire file will be processed and reviewed by the Core Team which may take up to seven days, depending on your location and the number of applications being processed at that time. Satisfactory files will also be reviewed by foster parent.  Someone from the Core Team along with the Foster Parent will be in touch with you to ask any questions that might be outstanding and to answer any questions you may have.  At that point an adoption may be discussed and arranged. Please plan on welcoming your new dog into your home within two weeks after approval. We cannot hold dogs because this limits our intake of others in need; SRC adopts them out on a first-come, first-serve basis based on a completed approved adoption process. If you are unable to accept your adopted dog within this time frame then SRC will go to the next approval and place with someone able to give the rescue a home within the proper time frame. SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals.  This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children. Procedures will be explained to you at the time of approval regarding the necessary donation and the adoption contract. Your donation is made in honor of the adoption of your new family companion and is never a purchase of an animal.  This tax deductible donation goes forward to help incoming rescued dogs. Our average total expense per dog includes but is not limited to the list of  expenses shown below. Here is a break-down of the average expenses spent on SRC dogs to assure they remain healthy and happy as they are prepared for adoption: Office Visit $45-75; Fecal $14-45; Rabies $14-45; DHPP $14-45; Bordatella $14-45; Heart-worm, Lyme, Ehrliccia Testing $30-55; Heart-worm Preventative $70 per month; Spay or Neuter $300-$700; Total Basic Vetting $478- $765; ADDITIONAL VETTING: Teeth Cleaning/Dental $300 - $1550; Blood Panel $120 -$185; Cherry Eye $300-$700; Urinary Tract Infection $90-$450; Heart-worm Treatment $300-$1200; Luxating Patellas $1,800 per leg; Cruciate Surgery $1,200 per leg; Entropian Surgery $250-$500; Demodectic Mange $200 per month; X-Ray $80 - $120; Ultrasound: $550; Cataract Surgery $1800 - $3500; Boarding $450 per month per dog  SRC  wants to thank you for your interest in our rescued dogs. We put our heart and souls into saving their lives.  Often the medical expense, time and effort expended to help these dogs, far outweighs the minimal donation requested to adopt these innocent ones.  Please understand SRC is limited in the number of dogs in our safe haven and if you are not selected to adopt one of them, it is not a reflection on your ability to provide a good home for a canine, simply our lack of ability to provide for the overwhelming demand from applicants.  SRC urges you to pursue rescue -- it is definitely a worthy mission even if you do not adopt from SRC.  October 28, 2024, 2:28 pm

Story
OWNER PLACEMENT  ASSISTED BY SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS   Teddy (SRC#3101) was born on November 8, 2022. Teddy is the alpha of his litter. Teddy is  being placed for adoption because their human Mommy passed away recently and their human Dad can no longer provide him with the attention he wants all of his minis  to have. While their human Mom was sick, it slipped their minds to have their Minis (two males and a female) altered so in due time they ended up with an additional 5 puppies.  Teddy could have been their father.  Their human Dad loves each of them with all his heart and is determined that they have the best possible future together. SRC is committed to helping him assure that happens.  Each one of the Minis are placed for adoption and several have already been placed. This adorable pup is very loving and have been raised in remarkable fashion.  He has received bottled water to drink, and in addition to his kibble and canned dogfood, Teddy and all the other Minis have a dinner meal which consists of a lean meat cooked with veggies (no corn).  Teddy is  leash trained with halter; yet it has been some time since he has been able to be walked on a leash since their human Mom became ill, so therefore a fenced yard is a must. This Mini male is exceptionally loving yet he has never been exposed to children so it is best if he is placed in a home that does not have younger children in it. Teddy is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. If Teddy is placed with another dog, it should be a female since he has an alpha personality.    THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN CLAYTON, N.C. THE DONATION BEING REQUESTED IN HONOR OF THE ADOPTION IS: $400. Please submit a completed adoption application and with that application, submit vet records for any pets you have had within the last 5 years along with photos of your residence including the yard (including the fencing).  The owner of this Schnauzer will review all approved applications and documentation that SRC sends to them.  Once they have discussed this documentation with the Director of SRC, they will contact you to ask questions and to answer any questions you may have.  At that point if a meet and greet has been scheduled, an adoption contract will be sent to you which you must sign and return to SRC.  If the meet and greet goes well, your donation of $500.00       (tax deductible)  may be made online so that the release of these Schnauzers may happen.  SRC will notify the owner of  Teddy and Bear when the donation is completed so that they may release them to their new adoptive home.  SRC will register their micro-chips in the new adoptive parents’ name(s) at no additional charge.October 28, 2024, 2:28 pm
