Story
Hi, my name is Mugsy! I’m an adorable 8-year-old mixed-breed dog, and my rescue thinks I might have some Schnauzer in me with Shihtzu .: I’m absolutely adorable and incredibly sweet! weighing 14 pounds so the perfect size I’m currently in a foster home with other dogs, and I enjoy snuggling with my furry friends. I do best in a calm, quiet environment since too much activity can feel overwhelming for me. Don’t let my small size fool you—I take my job as a protector seriously! I’ll bark to let you know if someone is walking into the home, and I even act like I’m herding them, which sometimes surprises people. But deep down, I’m just making sure everything is in order! My foster mom says I’m a very good boy in the house—I’m non-destructive and love lounging on a comfy couch or dog bed. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will keep you company and keep an eye on things, I could be the perfect match! Story
Ares, a 1.5-year-old male, has the stunning look of a mix of a Schnauzer and a Poodle. This handsome boy is an eye-catcher and his personality warms up your heart. He is affectionate, gentle, and loving. He was found roaming around a busy street, confused and scared. A Good Samaritan recognized that he was in distress and brought him to our partner shelter SOS El Arca Animal Rescue. Soon we discovered that the reason he acted so scared is that he is completely deaf. We don’t know why he ended up on the street as he wasn’t claimed, but we know he is ready for a loving home. A busy shelter is too stressful for this little munchkin. He would do best in a home with a fenced-in backyard. He needs a safe and steady environment with a consistent schedule to make him feel secure. Ares is very friendly, gets along well with other dogs,  and is neutral towards cats. He is crate trained and his potty training has begun and would need to be continued by the adopter. He is currently being fostered in CT and his foster parents started teaching Ares commends using a PetSafe vibrating collar. He is doing great at his foster home playing with his mates : two dogs and two cats. Ares is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. His current weight is 16 lbs. Are you the one for Ares? Please fill out an adoption application at www.sosanimalwelfare.org, or email us for more info: sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com We will happily get back to you!

Story
Loreen - 5 years, 7lbs, Maltese/Shnazuer Mix, Spayed  Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: Loreen needs a home out of the city. She is NOT a city girl. Burbs and beyond are ideal for her. She would also do great with another dog in the home :)  Our Foster Parent Says: "Loreen is a sweet little cuddle bunny. It’s sad to see her so stressed out in the city. I take her out three times a day but she gets no better, the noises freak her out. However, I visited a family member in the suburbs for a few days and there was a marked change in her. She calmed quite a bit and took steps on the grass. She used her wee wee pads and slept at night waking once. I feel she will be fine in that environment. She loves her bed and blanket. No interest in toys and loves eating." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy levelLOWER: Pretty chill indoors and won’t demand endless amounts of stimulation and exercise but still needs a few walks a day (10-30 min each) for potty breaks and to stretch their legs Potty trained?Using pads in the city. We think she would have a much better time with this once she is out of the city.  Social with other dogs?Yup - fine to be in a home with another dog  Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Would be best in a home wihout young kids since she is so sensitive  Okay in the city?Needs to be out of the city!  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Meet Lucas! Lucas is 5 years old and 32 pounds. We aren't exactly sure what Lucas is mixed with but we think some type of Schnauzer, Terrier, Goldendoodle, whatever he is, he is sure handsome! Lucas loves to be with his person and does great with kids too. Lucas does okay with most other dogs but would probably prefer to be in a only dog home. He can be a bit vocal when left alone at first so he probably should not live in an apartment. Lucas does well in crate after a short vocal dissaproval. He has been through lots of training and knowsa leash well and all of the basic commands. Lucas had recent blood work at the vet. Interested in becoming this pup’s forever home? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fee is $650. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
