Story
Hi, my name is Mugsy! I’m an adorable 8-year-old mixed-breed dog, and my rescue thinks I might have some Schnauzer in me with Shihtzu .: I’m absolutely adorable and incredibly sweet! weighing 14 pounds so the perfect size I’m currently in a foster home with other dogs, and I enjoy snuggling with my furry friends. I do best in a calm, quiet environment since too much activity can feel overwhelming for me. Don’t let my small size fool you—I take my job as a protector seriously! I’ll bark to let you know if someone is walking into the home, and I even act like I’m herding them, which sometimes surprises people. But deep down, I’m just making sure everything is in order! My foster mom says I’m a very good boy in the house—I’m non-destructive and love lounging on a comfy couch or dog bed. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will keep you company and keep an eye on things, I could be the perfect match! Story
** Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea ** • Personality: She's sociable and energetic. She adapts to new places right away and loves to reach out to new people and friends she meets. She knows how to say hello to familiar people and friends. She loves to play with other dogs and loves to play with people. She picks up on new training quickly, so we think she would make a great dog for a family with a good understanding and training knowledge of dogs. She's a bit of a sneaky prankster right now, so she can get into trouble, but she's affectionate, gentle, and full of energy. • Affinity with -Cats:She is currently living with cats in a temporary foster home. She is not aggressive with cats, but she is very interested in them, so if you have a cat that likes dogs, she would be fine. -Dogs: She is currently living with the dogs in her foster home without any issues. They play well with each other, are socialized, and warm up quickly to new dogs they meet. -Adults/Kids: She is very fond of people and loves to be petted. She warms up quickly to people she meets for the first time. • Shedding: Moderate. There is shedding in certain periods. Her fur is best brushed daily with a silicone brush. • Walking Manner: She loves to go for walks, both familiar and new, and prefers to take fast, wide, territorial walks (rather than slow, sniffing the trails). He also loves to run in the park, but will sometimes try to run outside if there is no fence. she is fast and has a lot of energy, so she loves to run around in large parks and meet people and dogs. she also loves to go for walks in the mountains, but she has a hunting instinct and is interested in small snakes, rodents, and birds. • Housetrained: She goes potty on pee pads and highly prefers to go outside. She can chew on wood and plastic furniture and will grab small items that fall on the floor and play with them. She's very playful and will run around with you if you have a like-minded friend in the house. • Separation Anxiety: She's always been around other dogs, so we can't confirm, but we think she'll be fine on her own. • Bark or Howl: She barks briefly when she hears strangers outside. There is no howl • Carsickness: She had drooling at first, but now she rides well.

Story
Loreen - 5 years, 7lbs, Maltese/Shnazuer Mix, Spayed  Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy levelLOWER: Pretty chill indoors and won’t demand endless amounts of stimulation and exercise but still needs a few walks a day (10-30 min each) for potty breaks and to stretch their legs Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Ares, a 1.5-year-old male, has the stunning look of a mix of a Schnauzer and a Poodle. This handsome boy is an eye-catcher and his personality warms up your heart. He is affectionate, gentle, and loving. He was found roaming around a busy street, confused and scared. A Good Samaritan recognized that he was in distress and brought him to our partner shelter SOS El Arca Animal Rescue. Soon we discovered that the reason he acted so scared is that he is completely deaf. We don’t know why he ended up on the street as he wasn’t claimed, but we know he is ready for a loving home. A busy shelter is too stressful for this little munchkin. He would do best in a home with a fenced-in backyard. He needs a safe and steady environment with a consistent schedule to make him feel secure. Ares is very friendly, gets along well with other dogs,  and is neutral towards cats. He is crate trained and his potty training has begun and would need to be continued by the adopter. He is currently being fostered in CT and his foster parents started teaching Ares commends using a PetSafe vibrating collar. He is doing great at his foster home playing with his mates : two dogs and two cats. Ares is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. His current weight is 16 lbs. Are you the one for Ares? Please fill out an adoption application at www.sosanimalwelfare.org, or email us for more info: sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com We will happily get back to you!

Story
He's small, between 13 and 15 pounds, and yet he's filled with a kind of joy you don't always see these days. And because he's so small we would prefer him to go to a family without children under 10. At 1 ½ years old, Bama is a Mini Schnauzer/Yorkie mix wearing a long and scruffy tan and white coat and looking out at you with big eyes! He's outgoing, and sweet but can also be shy when first meeting someone. What a sweetheart this boy is!
