Story
Tanner is a 8.5-year-old schnauzer/beagle mix. He's a sturdy, adorable 24lbs. He is super smart, sweet, and loyal. He follows his foster mom everywhere and loves to snuggle up on the couch. He's potty and crate trained. Tanner is a "one person" kind of guy. Once he bonds with someone he is incredibly friendly, loving, and loyal but has had some behavioral issues when additional people are around. It is important that Tanner have an experienced owner who understands how to keep him separated from other people in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. Tanner is muzzle trained and that is a great option when needed. Tanner loves playing tug and fetch with squeaky plush toys, and spending time outside. He will greet you at the door with a toy every time you come home. He's is trustworthy when left outside of his kennel when his foster mom is gone. He doesn't chew on things and other than maybe some initial marking in a new home doesn't have accidents. He mostly just naps and waits for his human to come home. He will sleep in his kennel at night but much prefers to sleep with you. He will just curl up next to you for the whole night until you make him get out of bed in the morning. Tanner loves to hang out outside so a securely fenced in yard works best. He does bark some but settles down once he's more comfortable with the sights and sounds of his home. He can not be left on a tie out where other people or dogs may approach him. He would not do well in an apartment due to his barking. He loves to go for walks and walks nicely with a gentle leader harness. Tanner gets along fine with other smaller, polite, friendly dogs with slow introductions. He loves the smaller female dogs in the two foster homes he has been in. He generally gets along better with female dogs than other male dogs. He does not resource guard but if another dog steals something valuable (like a bully stick) from him it will cause a fight. Due to this he should not be around puppies or other dogs who are not well mannered. He does not do well with cats. At the end of the day, he's a very loving guy who would just like to hang out at home, play with his owner, and go for walks. He's looking for an understanding and loving home where he can be his best self. No cats, no kids. No tie outs. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org
