Do you ever wonder what it’s like to be a puppy and waiting to find your forever home?  It can be overwhelming trying to navigate all the things but I’m figuring out some things and still working on other things.  Let me explain. As you know, I’m still a puppy so in addition to trying to figure out where I am, I am like a baby in the sense that everything is new so things are evolving all the time.  As with all puppies, I like to chew.  It helps me get rid of my baby teeth and at the same time, I discover lots of things people don’t like me chewing on, such as magazines, shoes or an end table.  But soon enough, I’ll be done with that.  Leashes are not my thing when it comes to potty time.  So yes, I need a fenced yard.  The bonus is that I love playing with my Wubba toy outside and zip around.  When inside, I enjoy an elk antler or rope toys.  Now don’t get me wrong, I still go for walks on a leash but I’m double leashed because I love a good bunny/squirrel chase!  Hold tight!! Do you work outside the house?  We should work on our kennel happiness then because I like to bark when in there (so no shared walls) but I’d really prefer you are home more than not unless you have another dog which helps me curtail my barking a bit. And I like dogs about my size so we can play together but it’s not a requirement. Little kids scare me so it might take more time to warm up than it normally does with adults.  But once I do, I’m very sweet and will be your binge-buddy on the sofa.  Just give me a call – Hey Monty! – and I’ll be right over.  When it’s time for bed, I sleep nicely in my kennel next to your bed all night.  So what do you think?  Are you going to keep scrolling or do I fit your needs?  *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. Lisa is a beautiful 9-12 month old schnauzer mix – she weighs 31#, and is pretty much full grown. Her adopter will need to ready the house for a puppy, because she is still learning house manners. She likes to chew on bones, toys, your socks and shoes (with a preference for shoes – you need to pick them up so she can’t get them). When you leave, she must be kenneled. Lisa is active and energetic – she jumps to greet and will need to learn the polite way of greeting people. She can’t help it………….she likes everyone. Playful with other dogs, and her ideal home would have another playful pooch and a fenced yard for them to romp in (she respects the 4 ft fence). Lisa comes when called, but still needs to learn all the other basic commands. She is very alert to her surroundings (even what’s going on at the neighbor’s house), and tends to bark in excitement. The foster uses compressed air (called Pet Corrector) for correction and it is effective in quieting her. Because of the barking she wouldn’t do well in any housing that shares a wall with another family. Lisa can entertain herself with toys if nobody will play with her. She is housebroken IF you take her directly outside first thing in the morning when she is taken out of her kennel, every 4-6 hours during the day, and at bedtime before being put in her kennel overnight. Lisa won’t do her business on leash, so she really needs a fenced yard; a canine companion to be her playmate and mentor would be welcomed. We have not seen Lisa interact with children, but expect she would be fine with kids 8 and up – mature enough to keep their valuables out of her reach. Billie is an adorable 5 month old miniature schnauzer who can't wait to find his forever home!  He currently lives with another puppy and 3 adult dogs and loves to play with the others (whether they like it or not). He has been trying desperately to get into the resident pack. He is eager to get pets and belly scratches, but he is nervous when first being touched. He prefers to sleep on the hard floor next to the dogs than on the couch with his foster parent. Billie is currently learning to potty outside, but it may take a bit longer. Due to his nervousness, he should go to a home with children (and adults) than can be patient and gentle.  He is filled with energy, excitement and loves toys and puppy play! Hello, I’m Anny!  I am a beautiful 2-year-old Schnauzer.  I am very new to this family dog thing because my life until now has only been about breeding little baby Anny's and this new world of nice humans is very unusual, and I’m just not sure of it yet. I am scared and cautious. I don’t like being picked up. I absolutely hate anything pulling my neck so my new humans will have to give me lots and lots of love, patience, space, and safety. I love other doggies, so a sibling will be essential to help me acclimate and build confidence. My favorite thing on this earth is being outside in the sunshine but once I’m out there, it’s very hard to coax me back inside. For this reason, my foster parents keep me on an untethered tie out with a harness so I can roam but they can coax me back inside without picking me up or pulling at my neck. I’m so good about keeping my space clean. I also love eating and teeth bones. It would be helpful if my future family has a fenced yard because I can’t do walks yet and a quiet place that I can ease into. For this reason, I probably shouldn’t be with small children because lots of quiet time and gentle pets are my love language.
