Story
Finley was rescued from the PG County Animal Shelter in September, 2024. He was previously adopted and then returned 18 months later due to having allergies. He currently lives with 5 other dogs his size, male and female and gets along with them but he would prefer a home with no other dogs (or perhaps one other dog his size). He doesn’t play with them because his love language is attention from his human!! Although he has interacted well with children, Finley should go to an adult-only home. We are still teaching him how to share his toys or anything that may drop on the ground. He doesn’t play with toys often, as he prefers to be with his person (although recently he has been trying to share them the only way he knows how which is just dropping it in your lap but not releasing it…lol). He is a really smart and inquisitive boy and VERY treat motivated so he will probably learn commands and rules pretty quickly. Finley walks really well on leash and also rides great in the car. He has free rein of the home and is non-destructive. As long as he is let out a few times a day, I would say he’s housebroken. He is a great Netflix and Chill kinda boy and he loves to sleep next to his person at night. An experienced adopter is required because Finley does have some quirky behavior that we are working on managing. He doesn’t seem to like people leaving the house and will bark and leap at you when you go. He also doesn’t seem to like it if one person is in a room and another person walks in – even if it is a person he knows and lives with – he starts barking and has a hard time calming down. Finley’s ideal home would be a single person, although he could go to a couple that was willing to work with him. He is a really good boy that is so attentive and has so much love to give. He just needs the right family to work with him on his behaviors and be willing to invest the time and energy into helping him. I promise you, he is worth it!! When he looks you in the eyes, your heart just melts. Literally one of the handsomest boys I’ve seen!! He is currently on allergy meds and will likely need to be on them for the rest of his life. He is also currently on anti-anxiety meds, although the hope is that he could be weaned off them in the future. Story
Sadie is an 8 yo 16 lb. chocolate/liver female mini schnauzer looking for her forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. (more pics in comments). She is a friendly, barky, playful, active dog who loves attention and is a lapdog. She is house-trained and crate trained. She likes playing with toys and fetching them. She was spayed in rescue as well as having bladder stones removed. She will need to be on urinary prescription food the rest of her life to prevent the stones from reoccurring. She is microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Sadie would do best in a townhome or single family home with a fenced yard. Children should be age 10 or older. She does not get along with dogs living in the home, so should be an only dog. Sadie's adopter will be required to take her through obedience training. If you would like to be considered to adopt Sadie, you must first apply. Please contact schnauzerrescue@outlook.com for our rescue's adoption application. Please be sure to keep a watch on your Spam and Junk folders if you don't see a response in your email inbox. If you've already applied, please contact schnauzerrescue@outlook.com to be added to the list of those being considered. Rescue Schnauzers usually weigh between 15-25 pounds, they are up to date on shots, heartworm/Lyme tested and spayed/neutered prior to placement. We make reasonable efforts to evaluate the health and temperament of each dog, however we cannot make any guarantees. We are not a shelter and do not have a central facility to visit our rescue schnauzers. All dogs are kept in foster homes located throughout the area we cover. PLEASE NOTE: We rescue schnauzers in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. We can only accept applications from these areas. For a rescue contact in other areas, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on Rescue Links. We have a need for volunteers in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Our website features lots of great information about the rescue process, book reviews and training tips. You can donate to Sadie's care at http://schnauzerrescue.net/Donate.htm via PayPal or check. All donations go to the veterinary fund and are tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Thanks for your support!

Story
Daisy is a 6-7 year old schnauzer who is the most gentle, well behaved girl you’ll meet. Weighing in at 16 lbs, Daisy loves to spend her days napping, going on walks, and just lounging around the house. She’s well past her puppy days but still has a lot of years (more than half of her life!) in her. Daisy walks great on a leash and has no issues. When the foster took her to the vet, she sat quietly and patiently for her turn. She did not bark or even acknowledge the other dogs or people. Just sat at the fosters feet and looked around in curiosity. When she was given her first bath with what looked like for the first time in years – she was INFESTED with fleas and had so much dirt she could have filled multiple bowls with it. She sat quietly in the tub while she was scrubbed down and didn’t even blink an eye when she was blow dried afterwards. Daisy is SUCH a good girl. Her favorite place to lay down is the sofa where she can nap for hours or watch TV. She is kennel and house trained. She does not mind other dogs and has met inside kitties and has no issues, she just leaves them alone. Her ideal home is one that is more calm and quiet where Daisy can spend her days relaxing and being the best girl she is. She does not require much – she is trained, gentle, loving, smart, loyal, and a very laid back middle aged doggy that would love to find her forever home. If you’re interested in adopting Daisy – you must fill out an application at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org Daisy is heart worm negative, current on bordatella, rabies and parvo/distemper. She is current on heart worm prevention, dewormer and flea/tick meds. She will be microchipped, spayed and have her health certificate from a veterinarian giving her a clean bill of health.
