Story
About Me: Name: Arnie Breed (or best guess): Poodle Mix (maybe with Shih Tzu) Approximate Age: 3-5 yr estimated Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 11 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Loving family Why In Rescue: stray/lost dog Profile:  Arnie was a stray/lost dog in Milwaukee County.  He was badly matted and very skinny.  He has gained weight and feels much better now that his hair has been clipped short.  He wants attention and would love to be back in a home.  We don't know his history, so don't know if he lived with children, other pets, or how he was with housetraining.  He does walk on a leash so doesn't need a fenced yard.  He does have luxating patellas, so the vet recommended that he be given a joint supplement, and that he should be kept at a healthy weight.  If interested in this little guy, please fill out the pre-adoption application at www.bichonrescues.com so we can get in touch with you. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $450 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS July 5, 2024, 5:17 pm

Meet MaxMax wasn't always so handsome looking. We didn't even know he had spots under all that fur! Max came in to the shelter from a transport. He was looking for a fresh start in life and that included a sprucing up. Thank you to Sarah from Groomed by Sarah for helping Max feel and look better! Max will need a home with no other animals. We get it, after coming from an overcrowded shelter why would you want to share your people?!Max will do best in a home with no children or other animals. Story
Meet Ellie May! Hello new friends, my name is Ellie May. I was found as a stray, and the good people at Albert's Dog Lounge took me in and promised to find me the most perfect home, where I will always be loved and cared for. I'm a senior lady with beautiful blonde curls and weigh just over 16 pounds. The perfect size for any family! I go potty outside and do quite well with not having any accidents in the house if I'm kept on a regular schedule. It would be super cool if I had a fenced yard in my forever home so I can go in and out when I need, or even just because I want to sniff around. I get along well with other dogs and would love to have another canine companion in my home to keep me company while my humans are away, but when you're home I promise to stay close to you so I can keep an eye on you. Do you know what would be even better? If my new family worked from home or was retired. I just enjoy being with my humans so much. I even love the smaller humans, and cats don't bother me one bit. I really enjoy sniffing in the back yard, and going for walks in the neighborhood. I do best when I wear a harness, and I avoid excessive heat and humidity, as sometimes these things can cause me to cough. I take some medicine every day for my cough, but I'm slowly getting weaned for them, so that's great news! I also take a medicine for my joints to feel better. When it's time to go for a car ride, I crawl right into my crate or get my seat belt on for safety and lay down, and enjoy the journey! I'm a good girl like that. I'm a social butterfly and quite friendly with everyone. At night I love to sleep in my own bed on the floor next to you. Foster mom says I'll find my forever home in no time since I'm such a beautiful little lady and so well-behaved! Are you ready to add a little love to your home? *Ellie May is being fostered in Madison, WI. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair).
