Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 7/22/2023 Reason for being in rescue: stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Bentley is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Please note that Bentley does not like to be restrained. At a minimum he needs to wear a muzzle for vet visits and grooming appointments. He may require sedation grooming. Weight: 9 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Bentley needs a home that won't cage him in - literally and figuratively! Bentley does not like a barrier placed in front of him that will slow or stop his roll. He will tell you what he thinks with barking, lip movement, or a flat-out hissy fit. Figuratively speaking, Bentley knows what he wants and how to get it. If he was a human, he would be able to manipulate any situation to his benefit. Yes, this little man is one smart guy who is at least 2 steps ahead on his daily plans for your life. Bentley needs an owner who can admire, work with his independent nature and clearly show Bentley respect. Bentley is really looking for a human who can give him a sense of security. If he senses a soft human, then the worst of his personality will dominate all day long. What is my personality like? Bentley is the master of ceremonies or he can be a brat. He has the mood swings of a teenager. Mostly he's a happy outgoing little guy. He can be hard-headed and isn't the dog for the faint of heart.  Bentley loves meeting new people and wants nothing more than to be the center of attention. He would love to be the ruler of the household and have things his way. Bentley is good with other dogs, but likes to be a loner at times. He wouldn’t mind being the only dog in the home; he does portray a bit of resource guarding towards other dogs when in his favorite human's lap. Bentley is crate trained, but prefers to sleep on the bed with his humans or in his own bed close by. He doesn’t ask for too much, just a hand (or two, or three) on him at all times. He’s already very spoiled, but wants to be spoiled even more. A home with small children wouldn’t be ideal. Bentley is crate-trained, but we leave the crate door open. When we close the door, Bentley does display his displeasure. He may just snarl his lips or go all the way to rage like the Hulk. Bentley freely puts himself into the crate to rest and feel safe. It's his world when it comes to the crate.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Bentley will rush up and greet you with some barks. If he really likes you, he will show you all of his teeth in a big goofy smile. He will run around and put on a show, then settle down for a couple of pets.  Other tips and tidbits: Bentley was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate hir birthday 7/3/2016. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm

Ernie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm-negative. Ernie grew up without much human contact and needs a patient owner who will let him take the time needed to flourish. He also needs a confident dog to follow to teach him to be a loved pet not just a breeding dog. Weight: 16 lbs Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Ernie needs a fence of 4 feet or higher!  What kind of home would be best for me? Even though he's great when company comes over he would prefer a more quiet house with no young children. Ernie requires another dog in the home for behavior modeling and socialization. What is my personality like? Ernie is still very shy and more of a calm and quiet dog. He's very curious and likes to keep up with everything going on in the house like cooking or couch time. When he first came into foster he didn't wag his tail but now he joyfully wags his gorgeous natural tail. His favorite place to snuggle is in bed and that's the only place he's never reserved. He loves long walks with foster siblings and enjoys being leader of the pack. He's not destructive in the house but loves to play with toys.  Ernie doesn't like to be crated and foster mom thinks he was kept in one until rescued. He was groomed recently and did well with a gentle groomer while foster mom assisted holding him. How do I act when I first meet new people? Very shy and reserved Other tips and tidbits: Ernie's birthday is 10/26/2021. House trained? Souffle is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 13 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, but a fence is a great safety feature for any dog.   What kind of home would be best for me? Souffle's best match will be a family experienced with the poodle breed, home at least partially during the week and that has another dog in the home. Souffle has never been without canine companions, and she enjoys the company of other dogs. She has found that cats are just fine too! Souffle cannot live in apartment of townhome. Souffle lived with a foster home for a couple of weeks and was returned for howling and barking when her foster mom would live. Souffle is looking for a home where her family is home almost all day. Souffle is looking for someone that can provide her with relaxing lounging days and quiet mornings. With playfull afternoons with her furry brother or sister. Souffle will not be placed in a home without another dog. This sweet girl needs to learn her basic commands such as down, come, sit, stay and the like as well as how to walk on a leash. All this learning and all the loving she needs is why Souffle would like her adopter to be home most of the day with her. Her learning would develop quicker if her adopter already had a dog in the home. Not only would this dog be a playmate for Souffle, but it would also serve as mentor to her. She would be able to learn to mirror your dog and your loving interaction with your dog would show Souffle that humans are kind of great.  What is my personality like? Sweet Souffle came to us as a breeder release (she was never bred) and is learning how to be a city dog instead of a country girl.  She lived life simply with her breeder/owner and is now learning that there are a lot more humans than she originally thought and that all these excess humans are pretty nice things to be around. Since she can be a bit shy, she takes time to warm up to new people, but she gets there.  She has found she likes all of us and loves being the center of attention.  It's a wonderful new experience for her and she can't wait to go to her forever home where she can soak up all the loving and attention you wish to shower upon her. Souffle loves to play with the other dogs here and she enjoys playing with toys as well. Once she is comfortable and settled in with her adopter in her new home, we have no doubt that her playfulness will extend to her family as well. Souffle is playful with other dogs but shy around people. How do I act when I first meet new people? Souffle is very shy when first meeting people. She will take a few minutes to warm to you, but the wait is worth it when you get to love on her. Other tips and tidbits: Souffle's birthdate is 08/17/2022.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We have not spent the money on an MRI as she is, other than some depth perception vision issues, otherwise a sweet, happy little normal gal.  Fable does have a sensitive digestive system. She eats Fromm Pork and Apples and does well on this.  She had diarrhea on other foods.  We recommend you continue it.  Weight: 17 lbs and growing - we think no more than 25 when full grown Height: 18 in at the shoulder now, this girl is all leg! Spayed/Neutered: No - Fable is still young and growing and it is in her best interest to withhold this surgery until she is at least 1 year old. Fable will be placed on a contract that requires you to spay her at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of spay.  Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Fable is like having a giant stuffed animal come to life in your home. She is looking for someone who loves dogs, loves to be touched and loves to snuggle. She could spend her life happily playing at your feet.   Fable is young and because she has spent the last 6 weeks recovering from whatever affected her, she does not have a lot of experience yet with life. She was in a very loving foster home during those 6 weeks who introduced her to other adult dogs and to people and loved her unconditionally. Now it's time for her to go out and learn the world more. She is ready.   Fable needs people. That is the bottom line. All the time, with her, loving her and guiding her.   What is my personality like? Loving, gentle and so affectionate. Fable thinks that humans are grand, and she wants to be part of your life. She does not interact much with our dogs. We do believe Fable has some depth perception vision issues - she will happily go UP stairs but says no to come down stairs.  She has run into fences if the lighting is low. This will have to be watched.  We do not believe it will get any worse and she can see.  Just not perfectly.   We have spoken to the family that purchased Fable as a very inexpensive designer dog off an ad she saw. The family cares very much for their girl but did not have the funds to even start diagnostics. She has realized that the purchase price is just the start of getting a dog. We highly recommend health insurance for all of our dogs, and we especially do for Fable. While it won't cover neurological issues now because of the pre-existing, it will help you with other challenges that may come to this young dog in her life.  How do I act when I first meet new people? A little timid and a little glad. Go slow, get down on her level and she will love you unconditionally in the first 5 minutes.  Other tips and tidbits: Fable's birthdate is 5/21/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Carlos is up to date on vaccines for his age. His mom Misty is a beautiful white miniature poodle. His dad is a man of mystery. He has a curly, soft coat, but his DNA is unknown. Given this, we cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 2 lbs and growing - we expect Carlos will be between 12-15 lbs when full grown Height: 6 in and growing - we expect Carlos will be between 12-14 inches when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No, Carlos is too small and young to be neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum requiring you to neuter him at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of neuter. Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, though a fenced yard is a great safety feature for any dog. What kind of home would be best for me? Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! While our ideal home for puppies has another young dog in it, Carlos could be adopted to a home where he is the only dog as long as there is a solid plan for regular socialization a minimum of 4 times per week.  Socialization occurs when dogs are off leash and free to be themselves, unencumbered by human restraints (other than the fence that keeps them safely contained). Socialization times would be for instance, inviting a neighbor or friend over with their dog to play in your fenced yard or going to someone else’s home to play in their fence yard. Socialization time could be doggy daycare. Socialization time could be a group walk if you include a playtime at the end of it. Training classes do not always include socialization time. Some puppy classes do include a period of time at the end where the dogs can romp and play together. This would be perfectly acceptable. Time can also take place inside the home, it does not have to be an outdoor area, as long as the dogs are free to interact with each other without leashes or other restraints. When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can!  What is my personality like? What a story little Carlos has! He, his mom Misty, and his 3 siblings were found in a cardboard box in a dumpster in the middle of Hurricane Helene by a very alert truck driver. Thankfully she recognized that there were lives at stake, rescued them into safety, and reached out to rescue to see if she could drive them to us. What a gift! Carlos is a happy, active puppy. Like the classic middle child, he's pretty chill and go with the flow. He loves to play and loves to be held, but is happy to wait his turn.  Carlos is looking for a very specific home.... You must be home more than you are away. Our ideal is someone that works from home, is an early retiree, or home schools. No Large Dogs. These puppies are simply too small. Kids are great - but they need to have lived with small dogs before and be over 8. And finally, we really, really want another small dog in the home, if you don't have one, please describe your plan for socialization with OTHER DOGS as described above. How do I act when I first meet new people? Rico is a baby. He loves everyone and thinks all laps are his.  Other tips and tidbits: Rico was found as a baby, so we have no history on him. Based on his overall condition we celebrate his birthday 09/09/2024. He is a baby. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Rico is up to date on vaccines for his age. His mom Misty is a beautiful white miniature poodle. His dad is a man of mystery. He has a curly, soft coat, but his DNA is unknown. Given this, we cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 2.5 lbs and growing - we expect Rico will be between 12-15 lbs when full grown Height: 6 in and growing - we expect Rico will be between 12-14 inches when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No, Rico is too small and young to be neutered. While our ideal home for puppies has another young dog in it, Rico could be adopted to a home where he is the only dog as long as there is a solid plan for regular socialization a minimum of 4 times per week. What a story little Rico has! Rico is a happy, active puppy. He is the biggest of his leader and has the most gentle spirit of ihs siblings! He's a bouncy boy that loves to play and loves to cuddle. Rico is looking for a very specific home.... November 19, 2024, 12:23 pm
