Story
Meet Jack@! Age: approx 10+ years old. Some of his paperwork says 10, 13, and 16. We honestly don't know. He is a senior, he is fairly active for his age and gets around well despite his sight issues. Breed: toy poodle, unknown if mixed. Size: est 7lbs, needs to gain a few pounds. Training: crate and leash trained, working on house training and doing well. Good with dogs/cats? Yes to both. Good with men/women/kids? Yes, he gets along with any and every one he meets. Personality: a little shy initially but once he learns his surroundings, he is very affectionate and friendly. He is mostly blind but gets around very well. Our vet was surprised at how well he navigates a new room. He still has some spunk despite his age. He is curious and loves to sniff around the yard. He is very food motivated. Reason for rescue: seized by animal control, hoarding case. Jack is neutered, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. He is missing most of his teeth so he eats soft food. If you are interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application. Adoption fee: waived, however it must still be a great match for both Jack & his new family.&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143November 3, 2024, 9:49 pm

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 7/22/2023 Reason for being in rescue: stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Bentley is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Please note that Bentley does not like to be restrained. At a minimum he needs to wear a muzzle for vet visits and grooming appointments. He may require sedation grooming. Weight: 9 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Bentley needs a home that won't cage him in - literally and figuratively! Bentley does not like a barrier placed in front of him that will slow or stop his roll. He will tell you what he thinks with barking, lip movement, or a flat-out hissy fit. Figuratively speaking, Bentley knows what he wants and how to get it. If he was a human, he would be able to manipulate any situation to his benefit. Yes, this little man is one smart guy who is at least 2 steps ahead on his daily plans for your life. Bentley needs an owner who can admire, work with his independent nature and clearly show Bentley respect. Bentley is really looking for a human who can give him a sense of security. If he senses a soft human, then the worst of his personality will dominate all day long. What is my personality like? Bentley is the master of ceremonies or he can be a brat. He has the mood swings of a teenager. Mostly he's a happy outgoing little guy. He can be hard-headed and isn't the dog for the faint of heart.  Bentley loves meeting new people and wants nothing more than to be the center of attention. He would love to be the ruler of the household and have things his way. Bentley is good with other dogs, but likes to be a loner at times. He wouldn’t mind being the only dog in the home; he does portray a bit of resource guarding towards other dogs when in his favorite human's lap. Bentley is crate trained, but prefers to sleep on the bed with his humans or in his own bed close by. He doesn’t ask for too much, just a hand (or two, or three) on him at all times. He’s already very spoiled, but wants to be spoiled even more. A home with small children wouldn’t be ideal. Bentley is crate-trained, but we leave the crate door open. When we close the door, Bentley does display his displeasure. He may just snarl his lips or go all the way to rage like the Hulk. Bentley freely puts himself into the crate to rest and feel safe. It's his world when it comes to the crate.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Bentley will rush up and greet you with some barks. If he really likes you, he will show you all of his teeth in a big goofy smile. He will run around and put on a show, then settle down for a couple of pets.  Other tips and tidbits: Bentley was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate hir birthday 7/3/2016. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Ernie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm-negative. Ernie grew up without much human contact and needs a patient owner who will let him take the time needed to flourish. He also needs a confident dog to follow to teach him to be a loved pet not just a breeding dog. Weight: 16 lbs Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Ernie needs a fence of 4 feet or higher!  What kind of home would be best for me? Even though he's great when company comes over he would prefer a more quiet house with no young children. Ernie requires another dog in the home for behavior modeling and socialization. What is my personality like? Ernie is still very shy and more of a calm and quiet dog. He's very curious and likes to keep up with everything going on in the house like cooking or couch time. When he first came into foster he didn't wag his tail but now he joyfully wags his gorgeous natural tail. His favorite place to snuggle is in bed and that's the only place he's never reserved. He loves long walks with foster siblings and enjoys being leader of the pack. He's not destructive in the house but loves to play with toys.  Ernie doesn't like to be crated and foster mom thinks he was kept in one until rescued. He was groomed recently and did well with a gentle groomer while foster mom assisted holding him. How do I act when I first meet new people? Very shy and reserved Other tips and tidbits: Ernie's birthday is 10/26/2021. House trained? Souffle is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 13 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, but a fence is a great safety feature for any dog.   What kind of home would be best for me? Souffle's best match will be a family experienced with the poodle breed, home at least partially during the week and that has another dog in the home. Souffle has never been without canine companions, and she enjoys the company of other dogs. She has found that cats are just fine too! Souffle cannot live in apartment of townhome. Souffle lived with a foster home for a couple of weeks and was returned for howling and barking when her foster mom would live. Souffle is looking for a home where her family is home almost all day. Souffle is looking for someone that can provide her with relaxing lounging days and quiet mornings. With playfull afternoons with her furry brother or sister. Souffle will not be placed in a home without another dog. This sweet girl needs to learn her basic commands such as down, come, sit, stay and the like as well as how to walk on a leash. All this learning and all the loving she needs is why Souffle would like her adopter to be home most of the day with her. Her learning would develop quicker if her adopter already had a dog in the home. Not only would this dog be a playmate for Souffle, but it would also serve as mentor to her. She would be able to learn to mirror your dog and your loving interaction with your dog would show Souffle that humans are kind of great.  What is my personality like? Sweet Souffle came to us as a breeder release (she was never bred) and is learning how to be a city dog instead of a country girl.  She lived life simply with her breeder/owner and is now learning that there are a lot more humans than she originally thought and that all these excess humans are pretty nice things to be around. Since she can be a bit shy, she takes time to warm up to new people, but she gets there.  She has found she likes all of us and loves being the center of attention.  It's a wonderful new experience for her and she can't wait to go to her forever home where she can soak up all the loving and attention you wish to shower upon her. Souffle loves to play with the other dogs here and she enjoys playing with toys as well. Once she is comfortable and settled in with her adopter in her new home, we have no doubt that her playfulness will extend to her family as well. Souffle is playful with other dogs but shy around people. How do I act when I first meet new people? Souffle is very shy when first meeting people. She will take a few minutes to warm to you, but the wait is worth it when you get to love on her. Other tips and tidbits: Souffle's birthdate is 08/17/2022.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Breeder is retiring. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Zoe is up to date on vaccines for her age. Zoe still has one of her baby teeth. Her adult teeth have come in and are in the right spot but one stubborn little baby tooth is hanging on.  If it does not come out on its own, it will have to be pulled when she is spayed.   Weight: 8 lbs and growing - we expect Zoe will be between 14-16 lbs when full grown Height: 6 in and growing - we expect Zoe will be 12 inches when fully grown Spayed/Neutered: No - Zoe is too young to be surgically altered yet.  It is in her best interest to wait until about about 8 to 12 months old. She will be placed on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to spay her at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of spay. Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, but a fenced in yard is a great safety feature for any dog. What kind of home would be best for me? Zoe is a young puppy that hasn't had a lot of life experiences yet.  She is happy but she longs for a forever home of her own where she will be loved and cared for her like the family member she longs to become. She thrives in environments where her adopters are home more than they are away. Little Zoe is ready to blend seamlessly into your life. She would do well with a single adopter, a couple, or a family—though we recommend no children under five years old simply because she is very small.   Zoe needs a compassionate adopter who can be home for her most of the day. She cannot be left alone for more than four hours at a time and will require multiple potty breaks, as well as plenty of playtime to aid in her training. To help Zoe adjust and thrive, she needs a canine friend. We ask that her new home has another dog—preferably a younger one, as Zoe will not be placed in a home with dogs over eight years old. A fenced-in yard would be a wonderful bonus, giving her a safe space to play and explore. What is my personality like? Say hello to Zoe, a beautiful little black beauty of a toy poodle who is back for a return stint with us here at CPR. Zoe’s first adoption was brief, as her previous family discovered that caring for a puppy was more than they anticipated. To complicate matters, she developed a treatable case of worms. They have been treated but treating puppy parasites is part of life with a puppy.  It was more lifestyle.  The home, a great home, had some significant lifestyle changes that occurred, and they realized, with a lot of tears, that a puppy was not a match.   Zoe is happy and has already moved on and is back playing with her buddies here at the farm. Zoe is very reserved right now and gets along with all dogs big and small. She has the potential to get along with cats, but since she hasn't had contact with them yet, early socialization is the key. Zoe is looking for a patient and loving adopter who can help her become a wonderful adult dog. Your kindness and support will be crucial in helping her grow into a fabulous companion. The most important thing to Zoe is that her new family is excited to love and train her! Zoe is eager to find a home where she will be cherished as a beloved family member.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Zoe is a well-rounded pup who generally does well with new people. Other tips and tidbits: Zoe's birthday is 05/14/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Peyton is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Peyton's paperwork from his breeder lists him as a miniature poodle. At 30 lbs, he is closer to a moyen poodle. Weight: 30 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me?  Peyton is adaptable and would thrive in a variety of living situations—whether it’s a single person, a couple, or a bustling family. His docile nature makes him an ideal companion for kids of any age, and he’s sure to bring joy to your home. While a house with a securely fenced yard would be perfect for his playtime, he can also adapt to an apartment, provided his new family commits to regular walks and fun outings to the dog park. Daily exercise is essential for Peyton’s physical, mental, and social well-being. Peyton came from a home with five other dogs. He has never known a home without canine friends. Peyton could be adopted to a home where he is the only dog as long as there is a solid plan for regular socialization a minimum of 4 times per week.  Socialization occurs when dogs are off leash and free to be themselves, unencumbered by human restraints (other than the fence that keeps them safely contained). Socialization times would be for instance, inviting a neighbor or friend over with their dog to play in your fenced yard or going to someone else’s home to play in their fence yard. Socialization time could be doggy daycare. Socialization time could be a group walk if you include a playtime at the end of it. Training classes do not always include socialization time. Some puppy classes do include a period of time at the end where the dogs can romp and play together. This would be perfectly acceptable. Time can also take place inside the home, it does not have to be an outdoor area, as long as the dogs are free to interact with each other without leashes or other restraints. What is my personality like? Say hello to Peyton, your future forever best friend!   He is a gentle and affectionate nearly three-year-old pup who is eagerly searching for his forever home! This sweet boy is all about companionship and thrives on spending quality time with his humans. Peyton hopes to find a family that’s home more often than not, as he believes the best bonds are built with love and shared moments. Peyton is eager to learn but will need some guidance with basic commands such as sit, down, come, stay. He walks beautifully on a leash, and training sessions will not only strengthen your bond but also give him the loving attention he truly desires. Peyton’s ideal adopter would be someone who can be home most of the day, as he flourishes in an environment filled with companionship and reassurance. Peyton is more than ready to go home with you and become the loving canine companion you’ve always wanted. He has a tender heart that he longs to share with his own forever family. Peyton will brighten your home and your life.  How do I act when I first meet new people?  Peyton is a bit shy when meeting new people. He may bark initially out of uncertainty and might even have a nervous pee. But don’t be discouraged! With a little patience and gentle encouragement, he will quickly warm up and show you just how loving and affectionate he can be. There’s nothing Peyton loves more than being petted and cherished by his humans. Other tips and tidbits: Peyton was born on 1/28/2022. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours.
