Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Foster needed!!   When we met Rusty at the shelter, he was panicked. He had been surrendered by the only family he has ever known when they lost their home. Rusty is crate trained, enjoys car rides, like to fetch and walks nicely on leash but, we have to be honest, Rusty is not always easy. He is small but nippy - so he will require someone with experience. A home as an only dog or another very calm dog would be best.   Rusty will need a quieter environment in an all adult home. He will definitely need someone with patience to help him to settle in.  Rusty is 7 years old and only 9.6 pounds - he is tiny and looking for a second chance at love.  We are looking for a home with no children and someone who will work with us on acclimating him to his home.  * Please note you must live within 90 minutes of Chester, NJ to be consideredVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 30, 2024, 6:21 pm

Story
Meet Shaggy - an affectionate, friendly, gentle, and playful senior dog! This happy boy is a snuggle bug who enjoys spending his days lounging around, going on nice walks, playing with his favourite toys, and eating frozen food-stuffed Kongs. Despite his cataracts, Shaggy gets around just fine, walks on stairs and can jump on couches and beds with minor assistance. He is crate-trained but prefers to spend his time with his people or his foster dog siblings. He even gets along with cats! Shaggy is housebroken, uses a pee pad, and is crate-trained. He already knows basic commands like "sit" and "shake" and can be left free in the house as he doesn't destroy things. He is also very food-motivated and always comes running when he hears the sound of a treat! At 11 years old, Shaggy is an easy-going and low-maintenance senior dog who is just looking for a loving home where he can spend his golden years. He has so much love and affection to give and will provide endless snuggles and companionship. If you think you can give Shaggy the loving home he deserves, please submit an adoption application today. Let's find this sweet boy his forever home! Update: Our vet has determined Shaggy has food allergies and is doing great on a prescription diet which has been helping with his skin and fur allergies/sensitivity. He is itching much less. He is currently getting monthly cytopoint shots while his skin is healing. Shaggy also was seen by an eye specialist and it was determined that, although he would be able to undergo anesthesia, he has an additional eye issue that would keep him from having successful cataract procedure. *Please note we currently have two dogs with similar names. Please refer to this dog as Shaggy#2 when filling out your application or emailing to avoid any confusions or delays in processing.* We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to please submit an application on our website today so that we can try and process and pre-approve any potential adopters prior to our next adoption event. Story
Meet Bunny. She is a miniature poodle that came to us from a commercial breeder. She is about 7 years old and weighs about 17 lbs. Bunny is on the more scared side, like a typical puppy mill dog. She is making some progress in her foster home. Bunny will do best in a home with another friendly small dog and a fenced in yard.  Bunny will need work on housebreaking. She has now been spayed and had a dental cleaning. Bunny is up to date with vaccines, microchipped and tested negative for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Bunny,  please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application.  ##1938024##

Story
Mazie is a 7 yo goldendoodle we rescued from a commercial breeding kennel who is a very mellow, very sweet, dog.  She loves to relax and also to explore our yard.  Her tail wags as soon as you greet her. Mazie is still learning about all the new noises and things she encounters inside the home and outside(like trash cans, loud noises). We are doing really well with leash walking and go for 2 walks a day. She is very good in the crate and keeps a dry crate from 8 pm to 6-7 am.  She rides well in the car but still working on her going into a car willingly.  She love treats and already knows the sound of treat container. She has not had any accidents in the home and goes outside to potty and will also go potty on our walks. She is great with our dog and tries to initiate play.  We do have a fence but I do not feel it is necessary as she wants to stay by us. Mazie is now spayed, had a dental cleaning, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $300.00. If you are interested in adopting Mazie, the first step is to visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application.
