Porter is a 6-year-old neutered male poodle. This spunky guy is on the smaller side weighing in at 24 lbs. After living his life as a puppy mill Dad, Porter is just learning what living with a family is like. Porter is a happy boy that loves food and being outside. He would love a yard with "the green, green grass of home".   Mr. Wagnor gets along well with dogs but is still a little unsure of people. Because of his past and reliance on other dogs, he will definitely require another  sibling to help him continue to learn to be more confident in his new life.  Once he is comfortable with you, he does like your attention and affection. Porter does well in the crate but is still learning not to get into things when he is left out.   His adoption fee is $650 which includes his vaccines, preventatives, microchips and neuter.   If you think you can give them a happy ever after home, please complete our online adoption application at this link https://www.animalert.ca/apply/dog-adoption  If you wish to learn more about Animalert, please visit our website at Animalert.ca   Due to the volume of emails, phone calls and messages Animalert receives, it is not possible to respond to all applications. MAKE SURE TO READ BIO IN FULL. APPLICANTS THAT DO NOT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. A FENCED YARD AND QUIET HOME IS A MUST. Teddy / Neutered Male / 2.5 years / Miniature Poodle / 15lbs / Dogs: Yes, calm ones / Cats: Not sure / Kids: Yes, 12+ Hi, I’m Teddy. I came from what many people call a “puppy mill,” but for me, it was a real-life nightmare. I spent my days in a small cage with other dogs, barely getting fresh food and water. The only time I saw humans was when they roughly moved us from cage to cage, and to be honest, I was scared of them. I didn’t know what love was, or even what a real home was. But then everything changed. One day, a kind family came and took me to their home. It was warm, peaceful, and safe – a place where I could finally feel what it’s like to be loved. I now have two doggy foster brothers who came from the same background, and I was amazed at how they trusted their humans and how gentle and kind everyone is. Slowly, I’ve learned that not all humans are scary, and that most dogs are treated with love and care in their homes. I’m so grateful for this new life, and I’m excited to find a forever home where I can feel safe and loved every day. A little about me: • I’m a quiet guy who loves chicken, cheese, and plain Timbits (yum!). • I enjoy relaxing on a comfy couch or bed – comfort is key! • I prefer calm, peaceful environments. Rowdy kids and chaotic situations make me nervous. • I’d do best in a home with no other pets or maybe one quiet, laid-back dog. I’m still learning to trust other dogs and understand that playing doesn’t always mean fighting. • I’m shy because I’m still figuring out who I can trust, but once I know you’re kind, I’m a loyal friend. • I’m a low-energy guy and don’t require much exercise. I’m perfectly happy with a walk and some time to do my business outside. • I enjoy sleeping in my crate, and I go in and out without issue. It’s my safe space. • I’ve never met a cat, so I’m not sure about them. • I am good with kids but need respectful, older children who understand my need for space and quiet time. A little extra about me: I’m nearsighted, so I don’t see very well sometimes, but it doesn’t bother me much. I can be picked up and carried, though I’m still getting used to it. I mostly like to relax, but who knows? Maybe I’ll start enjoying some playtime as I get more comfortable! What I’m looking for: I want a quiet home where someone is around more often than not. I need a family who is patient and understanding as I continue learning to trust. My ideal home would be calm, routine, and full of gentle love. I’m ready to spend my days lounging with you and being your loyal companion. I’m a little shy, but I know I have a lot of love to give. If you think you could be the right person to help me feel safe and loved, I can’t wait to meet you. Teddy has need neutered, is up to date on his vaccines and is microchipped. He had a dental cleaning. He is being fostered in St Thomas. Apply to adopt! https://forms.gle/iE7ZF3uYLmcq2Lvt6
