Story
Meet Annabelle — a 1&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 8 lb poodle mix with a sassy sparkle, a tender heart, and a whole lot of love to give to the right person.   Quick Facts: Name: Annabelle Breed: Poodle Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 8 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes, select dogs with proper introduction Good with Cats: No Good with Kids: No Energy Level: Low (easy going at home) Fence Required: No   About Annabelle’s Breed: Our best guess is that Annabelle is a Poodle mixed breed. Poodles are known for their intelligence, elegance, and lively personalities. They’re one of the smartest dog breeds, which makes them highly trainable and eager to learn. Beneath their stylish curls, they’re athletic, playful dogs who enjoy mental stimulation just as much as physical activity.   They thrive in homes that offer structure, companionship, and enrichment, whether through training games, walks, or interactive play. Poodles bond closely with their people and do best in environments where they feel included and mentally engaged.   What to know about Annabelle: Annabelle is potty trained, crate trained, and can even be left alone safely without a crate. She walks beautifully on leash and doesn’t pull, and she doesn’t require a fenced yard as long as she’s leashed for outdoor time. At home, she’s a low&#226&#128&#145key, easygoing companion who enjoys lounging, relaxing, and staying close to her trusted human(s).   This petite girl prefers an adult&#226&#128&#145only home and needs slow, thoughtful introductions with new people. She can be territorial and protective of “her person,” especially around food or when other pets are nearby, so an adopter with experience and confidence will be essential. She loves playing with other dogs off leash, but she struggles with passing dogs during walks and will need someone patient who can help her continue building positive habits.   Once Annabelle warms up, she becomes a devoted cuddle bug who will charm you with her sweetness and shower you with kisses! She just needs time, patience, and gentle guidance — you can’t rush her trust, but when she gives it, it’s incredibly rewarding!   Annabelle’s Highlights: 1&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 8 lb poodle mix who is potty trained, crate trained, and can be left alone safely Thrives in an adult&#226&#128&#145only home and needs slow, calm introductions with new people Loves playing with other dogs but struggles with on&#226&#128&#145leash dog encounters Can be territorial and resource guard, so she needs an experienced, patient adopter Low&#226&#128&#145key at home, affectionate once she trusts you, and becomes a sweet, sassy cuddle bug   Annabelle is a small, sassy sweetheart who will thrive with an experienced adopter ready to love her, guide her, and let her blossom at her own pace. She’s worth every bit of the patience she asks for!   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Miss Mimi! This sweet girl is something special. Despite being used for breeding, Mimi is still so sweet and so loving. She’s shy at first, but once she gets comfortable her true colors start to shine through and they are BOLD! This little queen knows exactly how cute she is and will have you wrapped around her little toe in no time! Mimi would do best in a home where she is the only dog, or one of very few. She gets along with other dogs just fine, she is just very submissive and needs some space to be her true self. Mimi is not house trained or leash trained. She may have some kind of trauma associated with leashes because she is extra fearful when you put a leash on her. Her foster is working on collar and leash training, but it would be best for her to be in a home with some fenced space for her to run around. Mimi has not been temperament tested with small children, cats, or large dogs, although she seems to ignore the neighborhood cats and large dogs when they walk past her foster’s house.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2025, 8:07 pm

Story
(08/05/2013) If you are looking for a well-mannered paw-fect senior pair, these two are truly a daily gift. Meet Sandy and Shadow! They remind me daily to enjoy the life I have been given and to do it with them This potty-trained duo are mature, loveble, intelligent, and happy friends who have lived together for years. They are ready to devote their best years to a fantastic family! Whether yal are retired, have children over 8 years old Shadow & Sandy are the right age for anyone interested in sharing their daily life with this special canine pair. They do love children. Little Shadow has a new little, baby kitten friend which is very cute. Sandy, the taller of the two woman’s and /or man’s best friends, appears to be about 7-8yr. Shadow, predominantly a short black and white cutie, is perhaps 10yy. They are known to be healthy overall, have been fully vetted, enjoy walks under our beautiful NC skies, enjoy a car ride, and know how to use a dog door. They also would say “Yes” to…a fenced yard. If you seek these pastimes: cuddling, watching pooches twist in delight when booties are scratched, relish in the pleasure of a relaxing afternoon in bed when it is raining or snowing, being the recipient of pooch smooches, and look forward to playing with stuffies, look no further! PS. – If you usually ride shotgun, you may have competition or… a guest on your lap.  As part of Sandy & Shadow's bonded $400 (for both) adoption fee, they arebe spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl and boy,  you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sandy and Shadow, you can fill in an online application for them under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1811010##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.A sweet, smart and affectionate girl!Little Rag A. Muffin is a sweet, affectionate poodle mix. Vets estimate her age to be about 9 years young. Her health is typical for a dog of her age. She's a good match for someone looking for a dog who: - Doesn't bark every time they hear a car pull up. Ms. Muffin will not hear the cars because she has a hearing impairment. She'll bark when wanting back inside the house or if left alone in a room, but responds to a "no barking" command accompanied by a head and finger shake. - Prefers hanging out with their human companion inside rather than go for long walks. In her previous life, Rag A. Muffin was left outside for a very long time, so she's seen enough nature. She's house trained, so will go outside, do her business, briefly look around as if to verify nature still exists, then is ready to go back inside. - Is not a biter. Rag A. Muffin loves people and dogs and some of her teeth had to be removed. Softer food is best (like kibble with added water). She's not sure she likes cats. Rag A. Muffin is smart. She cannot hear most sounds but has already learned hand signals for "come" and "sit". She likes open crates and will choose to go into them to dog-meditate when not happily sitting near her human friend.Click here to watch a video of Rag A.
