Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 07/06/2023 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release Foster location: Foster Home in Greensboro, NC Special Needs? Ernie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm-negative. Ernie grew up without much human contact and needs a patient owner who will let him take the time needed to flourish. He also needs a confident dog to follow to teach him to be a loved pet not just a breeding dog. Weight: 16 lbs Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Ernie needs a fence of 4 feet or higher!  What kind of home would be best for me? Even though he's great when company comes over he would prefer a more quiet house with no young children. Ernie requires another dog in the home for behavior modeling and socialization. What is my personality like? Ernie is still very shy and more of a calm and quiet dog. He's very curious and likes to keep up with everything going on in the house like cooking or couch time. When he first came into foster he didn't wag his tail but now he joyfully wags his gorgeous natural tail. His favorite place to snuggle is in bed and that's the only place he's never reserved. He loves long walks with foster siblings and enjoys being leader of the pack. He's not destructive in the house but loves to play with toys.  Ernie doesn't like to be crated and foster mom thinks he was kept in one until rescued. He was groomed recently and did well with a gentle groomer while foster mom assisted holding him. How do I act when I first meet new people? Very shy and reserved Other tips and tidbits: Ernie's birthday is 10/26/2021. House trained? Dogs can be house-trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm

Derby is up to date on vaccines for his age. Derby's breed mix is completely unknown - only a DNA test will tell. We suspect he is a doodle of some sort. We will not guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. If you have allergy concerns, Derby is not your dog. Derby arrived in rescue with an upper respiratory infection. This has been treated and we're starting to see his true puppy personality now that he feels better. He was also treated for Coccidia. Weight: 20.2 lbs and growing - we estimate Derby will be 35-45 lbs when full grown Height: 16 in and growing - we estimate Derby will be up to 22 in when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No, based on his size and age Derby is not neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum requiring you to neuter him at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of neuter. Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Derby is an energetic young pup looking for an equally active adopter and home. He would thrive with an experienced dog owner who has raised a puppy before and understands the commitment and responsibilities that come with it. Derby needs a family that will socialize him with other dogs and people. He wants to go out on the town, play at the dog park, roughhouse in the backyard, hike the mountains. Derby is looking for adventure. Are you a committed hiker? Do you run marathons? Debry wants it! What is my personality like? Derby is a lively, playful pup who brings energy and fun wherever he goes. He can sometimes play a bit too enthusiastically for some older dogs, but if you’re looking for a dog who will be a bundle of joy, Derby is your guy. Derby needs a lifestyle and family that can keep up with him. He is a trail blazer for sure, and he wants to go, go, go. Derby will require extensive exercise and playdates. Doggy Daycare would be amazing for this boy! As a puppy, Derby will need his adopter to teach him basic queues such as (sit, down, stay, come, etc.), help him learn how to walk on a leash, and work on potty training. Derby is eager to please, and the time you invest in his training will create a strong bond between you that will last a lifetime. Puppies require more time, energy, and attention than adult dogs, but Derby will be well worth the effort. Derby is a playful puppy who loves to have a good time. Whether it’s playing with people or other dogs, he’s always up for some fun. He enjoys games like fetch (with a ball, chew toy, or stick) and a gentle game of tug-of-war with his favorite toy. Size wise Derby would not do well in an apartment or any home with close neighbors. Derby barks, a lot. He would do best in a home with older children (around 10 years or older) who can engage in playful activities with him while also understanding that he’s a real dog, not a toy. Derby is looking for a big back yard to run around and play in. Darby is a good boy who simply has a lot to learn. If you have the time and energy to teach this young pup, he will bring a ton of happiness to your world. How do I act when I first meet new people? Derby is always happy and friendly when meeting new people. He’s a little bundle of puppy joy who loves to share his happiness and affection with everyone he meets. If you’re looking for a dog who will shower you with love, Derby is ready to do just that! Other tips and tidbits: Derby was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he was estimated at 6 months old when he arrived in rescue. We celebrate his birthday 6/7/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Sadie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 12/2/24 Sadie had a dental and had an abdominal hernia repaired. Sadie is a poodle / rat terrier mix. She is NOT hypoallergenic. Sadie is half of a bonded pair with her best friend Willow. They will only be adopted together. If you aren't looking for 2 dogs, Sadie is not your dog. Weight: 14 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 for the pair Fence needed? Yes, she will run away if not on leash or in a fenced in yard.  What kind of home would be best for me? Sadie, and her sister Willow have always been together, sharing a pen in their former home, so they must be adopted together. While we know it may be a bit more challenging to find someone willing to adopt two dogs, we are hopeful that the right family will fall in love with these sweet girls and offer them the forever home they deserve. Sadie and Willow will be happiest as the only 2 dogs in your home. Cats would be okay. Sadie thrives in an environment where someone is home most of the day. Retirees or individuals who work from home would be the perfect fit for her. She loves to be around her people and would enjoy a household where she’s not left alone for long periods of time. Sadie enjoys being outside and will need a home with a fenced-in yard. She loves to run, play, and sniff around, but she is likely to run off if she’s not on a leash or in a securely fenced area. Sadie also loves playing with balls and toys in the backyard, but what she loves most is snuggling up with her human. This is a trait she shares with her sister, Willow, and together they make the perfect cuddle companions. W hat is my personality like?  Sadie is a 7-year-old Ratipoo who, along with her sister Willow, was surrendered to us due to a new baby in the home. Her previous owner shared, “These two are so very loved, and I’m going to be lost without them. I hope they find a home together, but as long as they find someone who loves them and spends time with them, I’ll be happy.” Sadie and Willow have always been together, and because they’re a bonded pair, they must be adopted as a duo. Sadie and Willow have a favorite spot—they love to sleep in your bed, whether you’re in it or not! In their previous home, they often cuddled together on the couch. If you’re open to having your bed shared by two adorable pups, you’ll have some extra cozy nights ahead. Sadie is very food motivated, just like Willow, and she loves fruits, vegetables, and especially pizza as a treat. Just a heads-up: Sadie and Willow will need to be fed separately, as Willow tends to steal Sadie’s food! Sadie is house-trained and will happily stay in a crate for a few hours if needed. She does best with a consistent potty schedule and will keep her crate clean if given the chance. If you have the time, patience, and love to offer, Sadie (and her sister Willow) will bring joy, companionship, and endless snuggles to your life. These girls are ready to find their forever family. How do I act when I first meet new people? Sadie  is very loving and friendly with people and will shower you with sweet kisses, often aiming straight for your mouth! Other tips and tidbits: Sadie was born on or around 11/25/17. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Lucy arrived in rescue with really, really, really bad teeth. She required a full mouth extraction and feels so much better. She will need a soft diet for the rest of her life. Lucy also had a tumor removed from a mammary gland. The mass was not sent for histiopathy.  When our vet removes a mammary tumor, he examines it for abnormal tissues and when he finds none, we do not send off.   Weight: 11 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me?  Say hello to sweet little Lucy! This adorable senior lady was found as a stray in Tennessee following Hurricane Helene and has had quite the journey to get to where she is now. Lucy arrived at Carolina Poodle Rescue with severe dental issues and needed a full mouth extraction. After some much-needed dental care, she’s feeling so much better and is now on a soft food diet. Lucy has been through a lot recently, and she’s ready to settle into a calm, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years in peace. She loves to eat, sleep, and snuggle with her human. Her favorite activities include giving sweet kisses and curling up in your lap for a nap. She’s very low-maintenance, and her gentle, easygoing nature makes her the perfect companion for someone seeking a relaxed, affectionate pet. Lucy would thrive in a quiet, peaceful home where she can feel safe and cherished. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, she’s adaptable and content as long as she has a cozy doggie bed or a spot on the couch to call her own. Lucy would make a wonderful companion for a senior retiree, a single person, or a couple. Because of her calm nature, she would be happiest in a home with older, teenaged children—she’s not a fan of the noise and unpredictability of younger kids. Lucy is perfectly content to relax at home, but she enjoys walks on a leash and some time outside in a fenced yard where she can explore at her own pace. While she may not be interested in learning new tricks (let’s be real, she’s earned a break!), she could surprise you with a soft treat or two. Lucy gets along well with other small dogs, though she’d be happiest as the only pet in the home, soaking up all the love and attention she can get. After what she’s been through, this senior lady deserves to soak in all the loving attention she can get without having to share it. Lucy has been through a lot in her life, and now she just wants to enjoy the simple pleasures: sunny spots to nap in, gentle cuddles with her human, and a peaceful, loving home. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance companion who will bring joy and warmth into your life, Lucy just might be the perfect match. If you open your heart and home to this little senior lady, you’ll be amazed at how much love her tiny heart has to offer. Adopt Lucy today and brighten both of your worlds! What is my personality like? Lucy loves other small dogs. She’s very curious when outside in a fenced yard. She will be fine with cats as long as they are as calm as she is. &#226&#128&#139 How do I act when I first meet new people?  Lucy is an affectionate little lady who loves people and has a big heart to share. When I met her, she immediately climbed into my lap and showered me with kisses. Other tips and tidbits: Lucy was born on or around 10/24/14. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours.
