Story
Smoochie is a 1 year old 13 pound Cavapoo. She is a busy girl who will fetch your slippers for you, she won't necessarily bring them back to you, but she won't chew them either, she kind of just likes to move them around. She can be a little shy till she gets to know you but loves to cuddle in bed once she does. She has super curly fur and feels like a chenille rug when you pet her. I think she got more of the Poodle genes than the Cavalier genes. She is working on her housetraining but does occasionally use piddle pads. The first picture is her trimmed down, the second is her fur grown out. She loves to play with toys and the other dogs here, and loves to be outside with you in any weather, rain doesn't even slow this girl down. I would like a fenced in area for this dog to run around in. Her adoption fee is $350 and that includes her spay and microchip. Please go to www.susieqdogresq.com and fill out an application if you are interested in meeting her.

Story
Quincy is a 2-3 year old neutered male Miniature Poodle. He came from a puppy mill heavily matted. He had to be completely trimmed down due the matting. Quincy is good with cats and other dogs and is not housebroken. He is currently in a foster home. Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $300 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please email us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.February 2, 2025, 2:37 pm

Story
Kurtis was born around August 8, 2022, and weighs about 30 pounds. He came to us when his elderly owners could no longer care for him. Though initially timid, he quickly warmed up and is adjusting wonderfully to his foster home.  Kurtis adores other dogs and loves to play. He's also been around cats and seems to enjoy their company. Kurtis's next home should have another playful, confident dog, and if there are children, they should be older. We were told Kurtis was 'a feral poodle,' but he just isn't. He does have some shy tendencies, such as cowering when reaching over his head, but overall, he's a pretty well-adjusted, sweet, happy boy.  Oh, he rides wonderfully in the car too!  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $600.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chip & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet puppy mill survivor, Kaylee. Kaylee is approximately 3 years old, and is timid upon first meeting her. Once you gain her trust, her beautiful personality begins to shine. She is grateful for her new-found freedom, and equally loves playing and cuddling. She LOVES toys, and loves carrying them around with her wherever she goes. Another favorite of hers is treats- she is very motivated by them! Kaylee is still learning how to really be a dog, so we'd also prefer she has a companion dog who she can play with and learn from. She is house trained, and will let you know when she needs to potty. This retired mama has a lot of energy, and we require a fenced-in yard for her to get all of that energy out safely! Kaylee is not currently leash-trained, but could certainly learn! She really loves a good car ride, and is an excellent co-pilot. Since she came from a puppy mill, we would love for her to be in a home that does not require her to be crated. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster mom, and sleeps wonderfully through the night now that she feels safe. The poodle in her gives her some very springy legs which she loves to jump with, so a home with older children would be better. Kaylee needs a very patient family to help her continue to learn and blossom. Her life before her freedom wasn't very kind to her, so if you think you would be able to give her the best life please apply. If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. You can learn more about our rescue and process at www.new2urescue.org or find us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/New2Urescue. You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents. We are registered in NY State with the Dept of Agriculture RR #033 and a registered 501c3 Non-Profit.

Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet puppy mill survivor, Cassie Blue! Cassie's life before freedom was very difficult, and not kind to her. This has made her be a very fearful dog who requires a very patient, loving, and kind adopter who understands the needs of a very scared puppy mill dog and how to help her reach her full potential. Cassie does not adapt well to change, and will become fearful- this runs deep in her so even changing clothes makes her worry at first. This is where patience and understanding is pivotal for her new home. Cassie has incredibly beautiful ice-blue eyes, and she loves other dogs. She finds difficulty with trusting humans because of what she has been through. Cassie requires a home that has a secure fenced in yard to help protect her and keep her safe. She loves to play with other dogs, and also has learned to love toys. Cassie is fearful of a leash, but her foster mom is working on this with her. Given that Cassie had a lot to endure when she was trapped in a puppy mill, we prefer she is not crated. She sleeps wonderfully in bed with her foster mom each night, and needs the freedom to find herself and determine what she needs. Do you have a quiet home, with another dog (preferred) who has time, love, energy, patience, and understanding to give to a dog who never knew love in her life before she was rescued? Please consider Cassie. Her foster mom is ready, willing, and able to work with any adopter to help set everyone up for success. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Jinger! This sweet 5 year old poodle mix is a retired puppy mill mama. She is a very sweet and loving girl, and learns very quickly from the other dogs around her. For these reasons, we would prefer that Jinger goes to a home with another dog to help her continue to learn how to be a dog! She also will need to have a yard with a fence on it to keep her safe and secure. This smart girl also lets her foster mom know when she needs to go outside for potty! Jinger's past hasn't been very kind to her, so she needs a family who can be very patient with her while she learns that humans aren't all bad. She has so much love to give, and deserves all of the love in return. Could you be her forever family? She will require fenced in yard and a companion dog in home to give her best chance at easy adjustment.
