Story
Quincy is a 2-3 year old neutered male Miniature Poodle. He came from a puppy mill heavily matted. He had to be completely trimmed down due the matting. Quincy is good with cats and other dogs and is not housebroken. He is currently in a foster home. Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $300 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please email us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.February 2, 2025, 2:37 pm

Story
Medley is a 3 year old mini aussiedoodle. She is the perfect size at 17lbs. She is new to foster but already demonstrates the intelligence that both her breeds are known for. So far what we know is that she is extremely sweet, likes couch time with humans, sleeps in a crate at night (but would prefer to be in bed with her humans) enjoys playing with toys  walks nicely on a leash and is great with other dogs but would be okay as an only dog. Potty taking going well We are going to be looking for a fenced yard for her as she enjoys yard time.  NY AG/MKTS RR363Medley is being fostered in BuffaloMedley's adoption donation is $550

Story
Uma's nickname should be "La Diva" because that's how she expects to be treated. She is a stunning 3 year old firecracker of a mini poodle. She respresents everything great about poodles. Smart, funny, playful, happy go lucky and sweet. She lives to be on a lap, anyone's lap will do. She can get a bit rumbly with another dog up in her face but hasn't taken it past the warning phase. She is new to rescue but I feel she could go to a house with other submissive dogs or a home as an only dog. She knows stairs already and is doing well potty training. She has been groomed and did excellent for it! That is important because she will need regular groomings as a poodle. This profile will updated as time goes on and I see any changes worth noting.  NY AG/MKTS RR363Uma is being fostered in BuffaloUma's adoption donation is $550

Story
Do you need a BFF who's a little furry and a lot fabulous? Sprocket, the mini poodle with a maxi personality, is here to hang out with you on the couch, go for walks in the snow, and maybe even learn a few new tricks. She's smart, curious, and already a pro at stairs. Just don't expect her to sleep right away – It takes her a few minutes to settle down in her crate but then she sleeps quietly through the night. Her potty training is progressing nicely . She's looking for someone to give and get lots of affection. Sprocket would love to be your new best friend.  If you are interested in meeting her, fill out an application today!  NY AG/MKTS RR 363Sprocket is being fostered in BuffaloSprocket's adoption donation is $500

Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet puppy mill survivor, Kaylee. Kaylee is approximately 3 years old, and is timid upon first meeting her. Once you gain her trust, her beautiful personality begins to shine. She is grateful for her new-found freedom, and equally loves playing and cuddling. She LOVES toys, and loves carrying them around with her wherever she goes. Another favorite of hers is treats- she is very motivated by them! Kaylee is still learning how to really be a dog, so we'd also prefer she has a companion dog who she can play with and learn from. She is house trained, and will let you know when she needs to potty. This retired mama has a lot of energy, and we require a fenced-in yard for her to get all of that energy out safely! Kaylee is not currently leash-trained, but could certainly learn! She really loves a good car ride, and is an excellent co-pilot. Since she came from a puppy mill, we would love for her to be in a home that does not require her to be crated. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster mom, and sleeps wonderfully through the night now that she feels safe. The poodle in her gives her some very springy legs which she loves to jump with, so a home with older children would be better. Kaylee needs a very patient family to help her continue to learn and blossom. Her life before her freedom wasn't very kind to her, so if you think you would be able to give her the best life please apply. If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet puppy mill survivor, Cassie Blue! Cassie's life before freedom was very difficult, and not kind to her. This has made her be a very fearful dog who requires a very patient, loving, and kind adopter who understands the needs of a very scared puppy mill dog and how to help her reach her full potential. Cassie does not adapt well to change, and will become fearful- this runs deep in her so even changing clothes makes her worry at first. This is where patience and understanding is pivotal for her new home. Cassie has incredibly beautiful ice-blue eyes, and she loves other dogs. She finds difficulty with trusting humans because of what she has been through. Cassie requires a home that has a secure fenced in yard to help protect her and keep her safe. She loves to play with other dogs, and also has learned to love toys. Cassie is fearful of a leash, but her foster mom is working on this with her. Given that Cassie had a lot to endure when she was trapped in a puppy mill, we prefer she is not crated. She sleeps wonderfully in bed with her foster mom each night, and needs the freedom to find herself and determine what she needs. Do you have a quiet home, with another dog (preferred) who has time, love, energy, patience, and understanding to give to a dog who never knew love in her life before she was rescued? Please consider Cassie. Her foster mom is ready, willing, and able to work with any adopter to help set everyone up for success.
