Story
Meet Shaggy - an affectionate, friendly, gentle, and playful senior dog! This happy boy is a snuggle bug who enjoys spending his days lounging around, going on nice walks, playing with his favourite toys, and eating frozen food-stuffed Kongs. Despite his cataracts, Shaggy gets around just fine and can jump on couches and beds with minor assistance. He is crate-trained but prefers to spend his time with his people or his foster dog siblings. He even gets along with cats! Shaggy is housebroken, uses a pee pad, and is crate-trained. He already knows basic commands like "sit" and "shake" and can be left free in the house as he doesn't destroy things. He is also very food-motivated and always comes running when he hears the sound of a treat! At 11 years old, Shaggy is an easy-going and low-maintenance senior dog who is just looking for a loving home where he can spend his golden years. He has so much love and affection to give and will provide endless snuggles and companionship. Update: Our vet has determined Shaggy has food allergies and is doing great on a prescription diet which has been helping with his skin and fur allergies/sensitivity. He is itching much less. He is currently getting monthly cytopoint shots while his skin is healing. Shaggy also was seen by an eye specialist and it was determined that, although he would be able to undergo anesthesia, he has an additional eye issue that would keep him from having successful cataract procedure.
*Please note we currently have two dogs with similar names. Please refer to this dog as Shaggy#2 when filling out your application or emailing to avoid any confusions or delays in processing.*
We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821).
Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes.

Shaggy#2's adoption fee is $100. This also covers all age-appropriate shots, spay/neuter, vetting & microchipping.
**If you are coming to an adoption event to see a certain dog/cat, please email ahead of time to make sure that dog/cat will be there that day. Please email 1-2 days before the event, as some animals are placed during the week and our list is constantly changing.
