Story
All about Mia, the Shihpoo Mia's birthday is December 27, born in 2022. Her coloring in cream with tan in the ears and nose and has beautiful gold eyes. She is approximately 11 lbs. Mia has a very loving personality with a playful spirit. She also loves to cuddle up. If you are sitting in a chair and ask her up she will jump up as if to lick your face but falls back to sit and puts her front paws on your chest. This is her request for scratching under her ears, which she loves. Her command words; she is eager to perform come, leave it, sit, stay, want to play, down (to lay down), paw (hand shake), over, off (to get off of your lap), find (she has a toy we call ‘green thing’, she loves to play ‘find green thing’. She will search for it and if she doesn’t find it right way just say ‘find’ and she will continue to look), and ‘go outside’. She also plays ‘find daddy’ ‘find mommy’. Mia is housebroken. She does pull on the leash when she sees a squirrel, but you can't blame her for that! She is a quick learner and does respond to commands. Mia was taught to sit on a rug in the kitchen for meals. I say ‘rug’ and she will run to her rug. I place the bowl down and say ‘wait’, then ‘ok’. Ok, is her release word for commands. Mia is kennel trained. Just say ‘Kennel’ and she will run into her cage. She will, at first, cry when you leave the room but will soon settle down and sleep. She knows the word ‘settle’. Grooming. She is very patient and does very well when being groomed, however she is very ‘tail protective’. She will turn around when her tail is brushed. Mia loves to socialize with people, children included. She will readily approach a small dog but with large dogs she is cautious. Once we pet the large dog she will move in to greet it. She loves to look out the window. She does not bark. If someone rings the doorbell she makes a ‘woof’, ‘woof’ sound rather than bark. Mia's family loves her dearly, but due to very unfortunate medical circumstances, they need to place her with a new family and have entrusted Starfish to help them in this process. If you would like to be considered, please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application .
