Adoption Donation   $     499           Located:  in KY  (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details )    Age: approx years old  4 years    Weight:20 lbs    If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:    ssotis@cox.net Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. Story
Meet Trevor! 🐾 Trevor is a 2–3 year old, 12-pound poodle mix with a heart as big as his adorable smile. This incredibly sweet boy came from a difficult beginning—he was turned into a kill shelter along with several other poodles to be euthanized. Thankfully, **Joyrides Rescue** stepped in and welcomed Trevor into their program, giving him the second chance he truly deserves. Trevor was born with **Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH)**, a neurological condition that makes him a bit wobbly and clumsy. But don’t let that fool you—Trevor is just as happy and full of life as any other dog! In fact, he’s an amazing ambassador for CH dogs. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with his joyful spirit and sweet personality. This lovable little guy is housetrained and crate trained (though he sometimes needs a little help getting into his crate). Trevor loves being part of a family and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. His favorite activities include going for walks, watching TV, following his foster mom around the house, and snoozing peacefully while you work. He’s curious, affectionate, and extremely friendly with everyone he meets. Trevor is also a quiet companion who rarely barks—but he gets very excited about one thing in particular: mealtime! 🍽️ Because of his CH, Trevor does best with a few simple accommodations: * An elevated food and water bowl helps him eat comfortably. * Runners or rugs on slippery floors help prevent falls, especially when he gets excited. * He absolutely loves lounging on the couch, but should be carefully supervised while up there. * A safe home environment without sharp corners, clutter, or obstacles helps him move around more easily. Trevor may be a little wobbly, but his happiness, resilience, and love for life make him truly special. He is looking for a patient, loving forever family who will appreciate his unique charm and give him the safe, cozy home he deserves. Trevor is currently being fostered in **Houston, TX** and is available for adoption locally or in the Northeast. If you think you might be the forever family Trevor has been waiting for, please email **[info@joyrides.org](mailto:info@joyrides.org)** for an application. ❤️🐶

If you love kisses in the morning, kisses in the evening, and kisses at suppertime, Theo might be the perfect pup for you! This adorable little doodle is incredibly affectionate and loves being around people. At just 5 months old and about 12 pounds, Theo is the perfect small companion with a big personality. He loves to run and play—especially games of keep-away—with both small and large dogs, and he does great with kids.  Theo is a smart boy who already knows how to use a doggy door and is crate trained. He’s also great at letting you know when he wants something! He’s currently working on leash training and slowly learning how to interact with cats. Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Freeman is a sweet and gentle poodle mix who is ready to start his next chapter in a loving home. Born around October 8, 2024, he came to us after being owner surrendered due to his mom moving into a nursing home—no fault of his own. Freeman has a kind, affectionate personality and gets along wonderfully with everyone he meets. He enjoys companionship and is eager to bond with his people, making him a great fit for a family or individual looking for a loyal, loving dog. He’s ready to leave shelter life behind and settle back into a home where he can feel safe, cared for, and part of the family again. As a poodle mix, Freeman will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable, so his future family should be prepared for routine trips to the groomer. He is neutered, current on vaccines and prevention, microchipped, and heartworm negative—completely ready to find his forever family. Freeman’s adoption fee is $300. To apply, please visit www.adoggie4you.org . This dog is currently in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, KY, and locations along the East Coast. Please note, there is an additional $225 transport fee. We are unable to transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who just wants to love and be loved, Freeman could be the perfect addition to your home.
