ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Apple Jack! He is a 16 pound, 10-year-old miniature poodle.  Apple Jack is the happiest, sweetest boy. He walks around the house all day wagging his tail. He's also very smart and a quick learner. He only barks when he needs something (like if his dinner is late!).  He is great with other pups and loves all humans.  Because Apple Jack loves other dogs so much, we would love to see him go to a home that has other dogs for him to play with.  He also seems good with cats.  He is house trained, very food motivated, good in the car, can't wait to go on walks, and loves sleeping next to you in bed all night. He does well being left at home with other animals and does not seem to have separation anxiety. He can’t wait to find his forever home so he can give his new family their love and attention.  If you are looking for a fun and loving companion, consider adopting Apple Jack!  He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $200. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  November 12, 2024, 3:27 pm

Story
How Benjamin Button arrived: Benjamin Button was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on 10/25/24. He was briefly adopted and returned to our care. Why Benjamin Button is the one for you:Benjamin Button has been social and easy to handle since his arrival at San Diego Humane Society. He's shown a calm and cooperative nature, making it easy for staff to care for him. With his gentle demeanor and adaptability, Benjamin Button would be a fantastic companion for someone looking for a well-mannered pet. During his brief adoption, Benjamin Button was a bit scared by cats in the home so he might need time to adjust to being with cats. If you would like to meet this sweet boy, email us at sdcadoptions@sdhumane.org At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Benjamin Button is now ready for his new home!Message for details:This pet is available for adoption in a foster home. We set up meet & greet appointments, do a home visit or send them the address for some meet & greet locations, paperwork and suddenly they said they are not ready or spouse is not ready, etc. These fur kids have a very hard day the day of their appointment. Due to travelling we hold their food, so they won't get car sick. We bath them, some of them are schedule for grooming as you know it is stressful for them; then they have to travel with us picking up other rescued fur kids, and so on, it is a very stressful hard day for them for people to just cancel at last minute or not show up or do show up and just say they are not ready. Our time as well as your time is valuable. Please don't waste valuable time that is so precious for a rescued pet. Every single wasted time is a time that an animal will die because we didn't get to them on time to help them. In addition, of wasting gas and grooming fees which are paid by volunteers. Please take the time to put your shoes in the shoes of the volunteer and most of it to put your shoes on our rescued fur kids!! Please take a minute to tell yourself if you are ready to adopt and for this commitment. LIVE!! LOVE!! LAUGH!! ADOPT A RESCUED HOMELESS PET AND SAVE A LIFE!!

Story
Sweet little Constance was left in a wire crate in a parking lot with three other dogs.  When rescued by the Humane Society, she only has one eye.  Her other was later removed by th vet because it was in such bad condition.  Never the less, she does amazingly well getting around.  She is sweet and cuddly.  So quiet and easy going. She is great with other dogs and fine with cats.  Constance is an 11 year old Miniature Poodle who weighs eight pounds.  She is spayed, microchipped, current on her vaccines and recently had a dental.  She would love a family who just gives her lots of love and has a warm place on their couch for her. If you'd like to meet this sweet girl, please fill out an application at www.secondleashonlife.org ##2201145##

Story
Paloma was found in the streets of Los Angeles. She had a few minor injuries that she has already recovered from. Paloma is about 1 year old female poodle/maltese mix. She weights 15 lbs. She may get to 20 lbs max when she is fully grown. She is spayed and her shots are up to date. Her blood work came back clean. She is in great healt! Paloma is a smart and friendly girl. In just a few weeks, she learned to use the pee pee pads, to walk on the leash, and to wait until she is walked to go potty. She sleeps in her own bed throughout the night. She gets along with my three dogs. I have taken her to hang out with family and friends, and she loves EVERYONE. Paloma enjoys playing with other small dogs and kids. I have not introduced her to large dogs or cats, but I think she will be fine with both. She loves chewing on toys. She is not destructive, but she has stolen a few socks to play with them. Asking for a $250 rehoming fee to help me cover her sterilization and vet bills.

Meet Teddy! This gentle boy transferred to us from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. He was brought into their facility, with Lenny, as a stray who had a microchip. Teddy & Lenny's previous owner was contacted, who denied their existence all together. Lenny transferred to us first, and Teddy transferred to us weeks later after his foster-to-adopt (through the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility) fell through after they decided to return him. We were contacted with the transfer opportunity and Teddy was excited to see his buddy! Lenny and Teddy are not a bonded pair. Teddy is a calm, gentle natured boy who enjoys hanging out with his new friends, watching them play from the sidelines, and finding a nice cozy spot on your lap for cuddle time! Regarding COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses: Please reschedule any visits if you are sick.

Story
Looking for a party animal? How about a party poodle! Meet Oreo the party poodle mix. This 2 year old, 25 lb boy is eager to find his new forever home. Super friendly with humans and dogs, Oreo loves going on walks, playing with toys and cuddling. He would be a great companion for someone who likes to go on hikes and spend time outdoors or he'd be equally happy with someone who just took him on walks and gave him lots of love. His ideal home would have a fenced in yard and a human that spends a good amount of time at home so he can get lots of cuddles. Oreo is house broken, crate trained, neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines including rabies and has a clean bill of health from the vet. Would you like Oreo to be your new best friend? Contact Vicky Hetrick at (760) 672-2258. This is a post for K9 Connection Pet Rehoming And Adoption Inc. It's a 501c3 rescue so a tax deductible adoption fee will apply. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.   Meet Taffi! This adorable sweetheart was adopted from ARWOB as a young adult back in 2015 and sadly we were contacted in Septer 2024 her family needed to relinquish her back. She was adopted by a senior couple. Sadly her dad passed away last year and her mom just recently went into assisted living. Although they chose one that accepts dogs it became clear the situation was not conducive for both owner and Taffi. It was too hard for her owner to take her outside to potty. Unfortunately, her family was not able to help by keeping Taffi and contacted ARWOB to plan for her return. We accepted Taffi and realized she was pretty overweight and in desperate need for a dental. Taffi now had a dental with 9 extractions and doing great. She also had urinary incontinence and the biggest reason they relinquished her. However, As soon as we had blood work done the day of the dental and saw she had good values we placed her on PPA (a pill that needs to be given twice a day) and she has had zero accidents while she sleeps in her dog bed ei no more leaking. Dental, blood work, meds and done she is a happy girl. They mentioned she had trouble with stairs, we have not had that at all. She goes up and down without problem, she is also on cosenquin, a pill (supplement) given once a day to help with joint mobility. She does have some hearing and visual loss. So she needs a night light! ha!Taffi is a sweet dog who is great with dogs and cats. She is loving to humans. She will not hesitate to try to bite when she is startled by grabing her by the collar ei when she is dosing off or waking her up, so we are looking for an adopter who is seeking to adopt a senior dog to live her golden years in peace napping and enjoying some delicious meals. She has a great appetite. She came in weighing 35 pounds but thankfully she has now lost 5 pounds. She does have a couple of lipomas around her body which is to be expected. She does require grooming but her coat is not too long, more like a cockerspaniel coat length. Its beneficial to have the 'hair bangs' cut short to help with her vision. Too active dogs that have no boundries like the typical pups/teens are not the best match because she doesn't love dogs in her mouth (probably because she had dental disease) normal dogs with who give her space are great for her to be matched. She is great with cats. She is house and crate trained without a single problem. She enjoys car rides and jumps into the car well, she also still loves to have her leash on to go for walks. She can tend to wonder off and walk and walk and walk in the yard when she is new to the location but once she feels comfortable and learns her surroundings she will walk around for a bit around yard and then lay on her bed to take LONG naps. She is not a vocal dog at all, we have yet to hear her bark. Interested in fostering or adopting this senior sweetie? Story
Nicholas was pulled on the day of his euthenazia date.  He was not doing well at all at the shelter and was terrified.  But almost immediatley after coming to his foster home, Nicholas relaxed.  He slept in his bed all night relieved. Nicholas is dog and cat friendly. Nicholas is quiet and a very shy but is coming out of his shell day by day. Foster is working on socialization that will need to be carried over to new owners. Another dog in the home would be extremely helpful for Nicholas. He is fully vaccinated and neutered.   ##1897878##
