Story
We love Willie! He is a cheery, content, easy dog. His jaunty walk, curled tail, and scruffy coat always make us smile and win him lots of compliments when we are out for a walk. He likes to "fish" for leaves floating past him in the canal, sit at our feet while we eat, and trot along beside us as we putter around the yard. He needs little more than to be close to his people and enjoys life indoors. And this is where we have some difficulty, because we are not ready to be an indoor dog family. We discovered Willie at the local shelter 2 years ago. They estimated his age as 3 years, which would make him about 5 right now. The groomer, however, estimates he is closer to 8 or 9. Also, Willie had been adopted out from the shelter previously and returned because he did not get along with that family's other dog. I don't think he would like to live with cats. I think Willie is happy to be a family's one and only dog. He does not like his tail grabbed, so small children could be a problem.

Story
Meet the adorable Muffin! She is a 1/2-year-old, 19 pound, white, Poodle mix. She was found as a stray and was horribly matted. This pretty girl had to be shaved but her coat is growing in nicely. No more neglect for this sweet gal! She will require regular professional grooming. She does enjoy gentle play with smaller dogs but she prefers human companionship over anything else. She would be happiest in a home where someone is with her most of the time. She loves people of all ages. Muffin is very loving and will give kisses. She would love to hang out with you by day and snuggle in your bed at night? She is a very smart girl! She uses her paws in cat like fashion to move items around. She knows how to sit and will try to train you to give her a treat! She seems to be housebroken but may require some reinforcement. She may need leash training. At the sanctuary we use the command "go potty" before taking the dogs outside to do their business. Muffin is happy to comply. This is a good habit to continue at home. She requires a securely fenced yard, as she can jump over a 3-foot fence with ease! She is spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccinations. Are you ready for a new love? Muffin is waiting to fill your heart and home with love. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. Story
Cody and Molly are a sweet bonded pair who came to us after their mom passed away. They are kind, considerate and gentle little lambs. Cody is 28 lbs (needs to lose some weight!) and Molly is 13 lbs. Cody is 17 years young and Molly is 18 years young. They've been indoor dogs for a long time with little to no outdoor time and they're happy to enjoy the great outdoors, especially when it's sunny! These two really are the sweetest pair of buddies they look forward to spending forever and ever together. Cody came to us with bladder stones, had surgery and is now on a special diet to help prevent this from occurring again. Molly and Cody are a very sweet pair who don't ask for much, just a loving, warm and cozy home where they get to enjoy indoor and outdoor sunshine time together.

Story
Joey is a 12 pound poodle and most likely schnauzer mix. He is a non shedding dog that will need regular brushing and hair cuts to keep his coat looking great. He came into a central valley shelter as a stray and was so matted that all we could do was shave him down so he could start fresh in a home that is willing and able to care for his coat. He was very tolerant of the grooming. He will be even cuter when his fur grows out. He is very friendly and affectionate. He loves toys and other dogs. We don't have a cat, but I think he would do well with some training. He gets along well with the adults in the home and the visiting eight year old grandchild. He is being crate trained and we recommend continuing that to become fully house broken. He's doing very well so far. He walks ok on a leash and will be a good walking companion. If you think you are up for the commitment of training this adorable dog please submit an application for adoption. He is ready to to go to a new home now. Please note, if you don't receive a return call within a few days, assume Joey has found his forever home.

Story
Meet Dew: Your Future Best Buddy!   Origin: Antioch Animal Shelter Breed: Poodle Mix Age: 1-2 years Weight: 15 lbs   Dew is an energetic and lovable poodle mix with a non-shedding, healthy coat that’s as fluffy as his personality! Here’s what makes Dew special:   Playful Spirit: Dew is an active guy who adores playtime with toys, shoes, and occasionally his bedding (he loves to snuggle with shoes but won’t chew them up). He’s a bit of an attention hound and will even bring you his dish when he’s hungry!   &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Friendly & Sociable: Dew gets along great with other dogs, though he has a special bond with female pups. He’s had a bit of a rough start with males but now enjoys wrestling and zooming around with his new buddy!   Housebroken: Dew is housebroken and uses the doggie door like a pro, though he might have a few accidents if he gets too excited or scared. Regular trips outside help him stay on track.   Sleeping: Dew sleeps in a kennel at night but isn’t a big fan of it. He’s a bit of a passive resister but settles down eventually.   Training: He’s learned the basic commands like “no” and “off” and has just picked up “sit.” His leash skills need a bit of work, but with some patience, he’ll get there!   If you’re looking for a lively and loving companion, Dew is your guy!
