Story
Hi… my name is Kupong 🤍 I’m a 7-year-old silver Poodle girl, only 4kg — small enough to hold in your arms, and hoping to stay there for the rest of my life. I was rescued from a euthanasia list. I was waiting quietly for my name to be called. If help had come a little later, I might not be here to tell you my story. Someone once loved me — I’m sure of it. I know how to live in a home. I recognize the warmth of human touch. Even when I meet someone for the first time, I walk right up and let myself be held, as if being in someone’s arms is the most natural place in the world. So sometimes people wonder… what happened? How did I end up alone? I don’t have the answer. But I still choose to love people. I truly love being near you. I’ll come up without hesitation, look into your eyes, and gently ask for affection. With my tiny body, I lean in close — as if I’m checking, “You won’t leave me too… right?” --- Because being left alone is the hardest thing for me. When I’m home by myself, I feel anxious. I look for footsteps, for familiar sounds, for any sign that I’m not alone forever. Maybe it’s because I’ve been left behind before. Being alone again feels especially frightening to me. For me, a house isn’t just a space. It’s a promise — a promise that says, “I’m not leaving you.” There’s something else I need you to know. I’m extremely sensitive about the back of my neck. If someone grabs my scruff, I shrink instantly. I may flinch or freeze in fear. It’s more than simple sensitivity — it could be a memory my body hasn’t forgotten. I need gentle hands. I need to be handled with respect. Rather than force, I respond to softness — almost like you’re speaking to me through touch. --- As a Poodle, I carry the traits my breed is known for: • Very intelligent • Deeply attuned to human emotions • Strongly bonded to my person I’m quick to notice your mood. I want to be near you. I form deep attachments. And that means I may struggle more than some dogs when left alone. My love runs deep — and so does my need to feel secure. I’m 7 years old. Not a puppy, but not old either. I still have many beautiful years ahead of me to share with someone. I’m not looking for a temporary stop. I’m not looking for another goodbye. I’m waiting for a home where I won’t be left behind again — a family who is around often, who chooses patience over harsh discipline, and who understands that love, once broken, needs reassurance to stay strong. I already know how to love people. Now I just need someone who will protect that love until the very end. From a euthanasia list… to your arms. Will you be my last family? 🤍🐾

Story
Hiya! My name is POPEYE. Me and my pal MOY are a BONDED PAIR and MUST go to a home together! Here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Poodle mix Age: Approx. 2 years old Gender: Male Weight: 18 lbs (8.2 kg)  Height: 42cm (paws to shoulders), 52 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 58 cm (head to butt) Neck: 29cm Chest: 47cm Current Location:  Mexico City RESCUE STORY - Me and Moy were rescued together two months ago. We used to live on the street with a few homeless alcoholics. It’s believed we taken from somewhere else, as the homeless people didn't have us one day and then showed up with us the next. Unfortunately, we were mostly tied up and had little chances to move. This is probably why I started licking my paws and legs, which were quite red and raw when we were rescued. Me and Moy were kept hungry and dirty. At rescue, we were both dirty and underweight but fortunately, had no serious health issues. Our rescuers have searched for our "original owners" (if we had any) but nobody has come to claim us. SO... now we're hoping and praying that a lovely family in the Pacific North West will want to give us both a loving home together! After all we've been through, we have kinda "trauma bonded" together and are inseparable now. Moy, in particular, gets pretty stressed out when we are separated (video). TEMPERAMENT - I am friendly and very affectionate with people I know and trust (video). When approached by a stranger, I appear quite insecure and uncomfortable. I don't refuse to be touched and haven't shown any reactive or aggressive behaviour in these situations, but it's clear I'm quite uncomfortable (video). I'm looking for hoomans who will advocate for my space and who will go at my pace. Once I warm up, I'm a happy, loving boy - so I promise it's worth the wait to earn my trust! I do anxiously licking my paws and legs, but much less than when we were first rescued. Hopefully in a calm, loving home, I will be able to leave this nervous behaviour behind! I am dog friendly and absolutely need my buddy Moy as my companion; we walk (video), play, eat, cuddle (video, video 2), and sleep next to each other. We have shown that we are essentially each other's "emotional support animal", so our rescuers want us to be adopted together.   We were only recently rescued (Sept. 2025) from pretty unsafe and unstable conditions, where our movements were quite restricted. We are getting used to the new environment of the shelter. When together, we are way more confident. I think the ideal adopter for me and Moy should be aware that we will need some time to get used to a new home, but also expect us to grow into very affectionate, playful furry companions with time! :) ENERGY LEVEL - Low - Both Moy and I are pretty chill, low energy dudes! Once comfortable in our new home, I'm sure we'll come out of our shells a bit, but I don't think we'll ever be crazy energetic boys. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs –  Yup! At the shelter, Moy and I live with dogs of all sizes. We get along with everybody. We eat together with other dogs and show no resource guarding. We can be a bit uneasy when meeting doggos when on leash, but you can see here we warm up pretty quickly. Proper introductions on leash (parallel walks etc.) and advocating for our space will be essential to us getting comfortable! Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress! I walk quietly and nicely on leash, but I keep looking at the person walking me, as if I need some sort of encouragement. On the street I'm not bothered fast driving cars or noise (video). I am hoping to find an adopter to help me become more confident and find the joy of going out on walks! Here are some videos of me and Moy walking together on leash (video, video2). A calm, confident owner will be helpful in us learning to walk confidently! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. I am an anxious licker and have some skin irritation as a result. This may be an ongoing issue in my forever home, although we hope that the stability, care, and love provided in a home will help me no longer lick out of anxiety! I am currently being treated for pyoderma (bacterial skin infection) and am expected to fully recover in a few days.  NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.  ADOPTION FEE: My bonded pair adoption fee (with Moy) is $1,456.00 CAD including tax ($1300 + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes both of our adoption fees, vet costs, and airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed.
