Story
Teddy Bear, an adorable 10-year-old, 12 lb male rescue dog who is now ready for his forever home. Teddy Bear's journey has been one of resilience, courage, and growth, and he is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to bring his unique brand of love and companionship into the lives of a new family. Teddy bear previously lived in a home with one elderly woman. He did not get picked up very often and he did not get much attention. When he first came to the rescue, we were unable to easily catch him much less pet him. He has come so far and he now tolerate being picked up and enjoys being petted. He is not a cuddly dog, however. He probably will never get over his past completely. He has gained an incredible amount of trust while being here and definitely has room for further growth. Being handled a lot is just not something in his comfort zone. He is independent but will still adore you and love you. He gets happy when we get up in the morning and he’s especially gregarious at feeding time! Teddy is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Teddy Bear's adoption fee is $275 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. Story
Elliot is an endearing dog who came to us as a stray. He was in very rough condition when he arrived. While we were able to clean him up and groom him and have him treated by our veterinarian, Elliot did suffer some permanent damage to his eyes. He sees fairly well although we feel he probably has some minor vision loss due to his neglect. He is a young boy believed to be about three years old. He will need eye drops daily to keep his eyes from deteriorating further as they get very dry. Other than that, he is a healthy boy who needs lots of love and kindness. He will become very devoted to you and give you back as much as you give him, probably more. We believe he was raised as an only dog as he is socially uncertain about how to deal with other dogs, but he would do OK with another dog that was gentle with him. We feel that Elliot will blossom in a home and become a happier and more playful companion, but he does have some learning to do. He likes to go for walks and he walks well on a leash and does not pull. Like many of our rescued dogs we are not sure how well house trained Elliot is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. He is very eager to please. Elliot is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Elliot's's adoption fee is $350 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Story
Kash could be possibly described as a dignified clown. Or possibly one of those boys who never grows up. Like Peter Pan? He is an absolute doll. He's sweet and loving, funny and playful, loving and snuggly. He came to us as a found dog. He was microchipped and his owners denied owning him. His mouth was full of rotted teeth. Every one of them had to be pulled (He still eats dry food!) he was extremely matted as well. He deserves so much better. He's such a good boy and will fit well into almost any home. He's fully vetted and needs for nothing but a loving home and family. Kash is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Kash's adoption fee is $325 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Story
Maxx is a darling, sweet boy who will win your heart over as soon as you meet him. He is a poodle mix who we believe has some Maltese in him. He’s Tall and handsome! He currently weighs about 11 lbs But he could stand to gain a little bit of weight. Extremely playful with other dogs and would love another dog, similar in size and age to play with. Maxx Is between one and two years old. He is non-shedding and just the happiest, most delightful dog you could imagine He is ready to melt your heart and brighten the mood in your home. He is neutered and current on vaccines and microchipped as well. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well potty trained Maxx is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Maxx is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Maxx’s adoption fee is $400 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Story
Jovie is such a fun girl. She loves to play ball and carry her ball around. She uses the dog door and will potty outside but also uses the pee pads still. IShe loves to play with all the dogs and will bark at them to play with her. She loves to cuddle. We have learned she can be fearful meeting new people and will sometimes nip. Food definitely helps with this and it doesn't take long for her to warm up to a stranger. She will paw at you and nibble your hands for attention so not sure about smaller kids. She doesn't shed at all. Treats seem a new thing for her and so we are working on gently taking them vs gobbling up your hand. Seriously adore this very happy (jovial 😊) girl she will make someone very happy!!!
