Story
Rambo was brought to the sanctuary as a found stray. Rambo has undiagnosed hair loss which we suspect is related to his heavy flea burden on arrival. His skin seems to be healing nicely. Rambo was easy to introduce to new dogs at first, but does not seem receptive to meeting new dogs now that he feels established at the sanctuary. He is super cute, friendly with people and very loving.

Story
He is on vetmedin for his CHF, gabapentin and dasuquin for arthritis pain and a cough medicine for his chronic bronchitis. Papaw is doing really well on this medication regimen! He is crate trained and `sits pretty` when waiting for breakfast and dinner. He still has some accidents if you don`t stick to a schedule (forgot to let him out one evening after dinner and he peed on the floor). I don`t leave him in his crate longer than 4-5 hours at a time, except overnight. He`s only had one accident in his crate. He gets really excited about treats, so watch your fingers! He gets very nervous in unfamiliar conditions, so he doesn’t really like walks/being on a leash. He is snuggly and the absolute best couch potato. He is mostly blind and deaf. Clapping loudly gets his attention and then I usually wave my hand ant eye level and then squat down so he can find me. I love him so much. We think Papaw is between 12-13 years old. We think he’s a min pin mix of some sort, I really think he has some terrier in there somewhere because of how bouncy he is. He really is the best little man. He is crate trained and mostly house trained, though I keep him on a pretty regular schedule to prevent accidents in the house. He does fine in the crate over night, but I make sure to come home at lunch to let him out in the middle of the day so I don’t come home to an accident. He is elderly and has a small bladder. Papaw was an owner surrender to animal control and I got him as a foster around the end of May, early June 2023. He had a horrible upper respiratory infection and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He is on a medication that I crush up in his food twice a day. He also had 11 or 12 teeth pulled, so I soak his dry food in water before he eats it. He is the absolute sweetest little cuddle bug and he’s so appreciative of the good life. He has some quirks that I’m happy to share when/if you meet him. He would do best in a home with another dog, as my dog helps guide him around the house/yard. He’s not great on a leash, since he doesn’t see well and gets freaked out, but is perfectly happy in the backyard. He is mostly a couch potato. He is happiest with his head on your chest, relaxing. Story
Pepper is such a good old boy! A little timid at first with people and dogs, he has adapted well to his new foster home. Pepper required some dental work when he first came to rescue, but that has resolved and he is now better and has gained to a healthier weight. Pepper is both cat and dog tolerant, housebroken and walks well on a leash. Consistent with his breed(s), Pepper has a little nervous tremor, but that resolves as he becomes more comfortable If you are looking for a senior companion, Pepper could be the guy for you!
