Story
Sweet, funny doxie mix Nicholas is ready for his forever home where he can be the center of attention! He's fine with dogs but not a buddy for one. Enjoys meeting all people, loves his person, being close, cuddling. 5 years, 13 pounds, Nick had a small bout of IVDD, recovered quickly with rest, steroids. His walk is off a bit, but he walks, runs fast, is not hampered in living his little life at all. Nicholas enjoys squeaky toys, will carry them to you for play or squeak them by himself. He's a really wonderful best friend. Fostered near Philadelphia, PA. Adoption fee $275 www.longdogsrescue.org/application

Story
Toby would like lots of toys in his forever home!  9 years, 17 pounds of squeakyness, he would be a great only dog best friend. Ok with other dogs but not a buddy.  Toby is very sweet and funny; also affectionate, loves being close to his person. Toby came to rescue with a little weakness in his back leg. He has no pain, walks just fine, can do 2-3 steps. Toby enjoys exploring in the yard, short leash walks. He's had a recent dental cleaning, is so ready to meet that very special person who can open their big heart to him. Fostered near Philadelphia, PA. Adoption fee $175. www.longdogsrescue.org/application

Story
Jack and Jill are 2 of the sweetest babies. They are approximately 1.5 years old and Jill weighs 12 lbs and Jack weighs 8 lbs, they are not getting any bigger. These 2 have not had an easy life. They did have a home at one point, but the owners moved out and left them in their yard, in a wire crate, alone. No food. No water. The neighbors heard them and due to laws, could not take them, but animal control wasn’t responding so they snuck them food and water over the course of a few days. A week went by, and still, nobody came for them. They lived in a wire crate for a week before animal control came. Thankfully, they let us take them into our care, where they have been. The owners never came back. Jack and Jill have since been fully vetted and are ready for their forever homes. They each have their own personality and we’re not sure if we want to split them up or not, ideally we’d love to adopt them together. Jack is a little more timid than Jill – he is the smaller one (light tan) and he’s unsure of who to trust. Jill is more friendly and will come to anyone and give lots of kisses within minutes. Jack can warm up to you with patience (and a little time, not much!). In a matter of days he was sleeping in the fosters bed, cuddling right up. They are both cuddle bugs and love to be next to you. They are house trained. They have met kitties and other dogs, and they don’t mind either of them (you’ll see one of our kitties in the video going up to them). An ideal home for them would be one that is a little quieter and more relaxed. These 2 are not hyper nor do they need a lot of activity. They don’t mind walks around the neighborhood. We’re not sure how they do with children but based on how they’ve been, we do not recommend young children. Jack and Jill would make fabulous companions for the perfect household. Jack and Jill are spayed/neutered, heart worm negative, current on preventions, microchipped, and will receive a health certificate prior to adoption from a vet giving them a clean bill of health. Story
MEET PISTACHIO! Pistachio is a 12ish year old Miniature Pinscher with a frustrating story. His former owner originally tried to surrender him to a local shelter because they could no longer afford to care for a pet but when they learned that there was an intake wait and he could not be taken into the shelter immediately, he was abandoned in a local park despite having very limited vision. Shelter staff picked him up wandering around as a stray days later. Pistachio quickly landed a foster home thankfully and he's proven to be a fun, sweet little companion ever since! He's been a very easy foster dog - he's completely housebroken and hasn't had any accidents. He loves to eat (don't we all) and isn't picky but does especially love wet food. Despite being an older guy, Pistachio has a great energy level and is actually pretty quick when he wants to be! He can't see well but he recognizes voices immediately and loves to greet you at the door when he hears you come home. He'll bounce around in delight and paw at your legs to say hi! He is currently living with other dogs in foster care and doesn't mind sharing his space with them but the more rambunctious younger dogs make him a little uncomfortable. He'll bark and act as "the fun police" if they're overwhelming him. He'd be happy in a home with other low-key, friendly dogs like himself! He is also living with cats and is great with them! Because he's visually impaired, we think he'd be happier in a home without young/small kids. Pistachio is an orthopedic bed connoisseur and will snuggle right up for his afternoon (and morning and evening) naps. Since coming to the rescue, Pistachio has gotten a full medical workup. His blood work is all unremarkable which is great for a senior dog. He does have some age-related arthritis like most small senior dogs and takes Rimadyl daily to stay feeling good. He received a dental cleaning and one painful tooth extracted. He does have a large lipoma (fatty mass) on his hip/groin which doesn't impact his mobility and doesn't require any care. Overall, he's in great health! Pistachio is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in adopting him?
