Story
Jack and Jill are 2 of the sweetest babies. They are approximately 1.5 years old and Jill weighs 12 lbs and Jack weighs 8 lbs, they are not getting any bigger. These 2 have not had an easy life. They did have a home at one point, but the owners moved out and left them in their yard, in a wire crate, alone. No food. No water. The neighbors heard them and due to laws, could not take them, but animal control wasn’t responding so they snuck them food and water over the course of a few days. A week went by, and still, nobody came for them. They lived in a wire crate for a week before animal control came. Thankfully, they let us take them into our care, where they have been. The owners never came back. Jack and Jill have since been fully vetted and are ready for their forever homes. They each have their own personality and we’re not sure if we want to split them up or not, ideally we’d love to adopt them together. Jack is a little more timid than Jill – he is the smaller one (light tan) and he’s unsure of who to trust. Jill is more friendly and will come to anyone and give lots of kisses within minutes. Jack can warm up to you with patience (and a little time, not much!). In a matter of days he was sleeping in the fosters bed, cuddling right up. They are both cuddle bugs and love to be next to you. They are house trained. They have met kitties and other dogs, and they don’t mind either of them (you’ll see one of our kitties in the video going up to them). An ideal home for them would be one that is a little quieter and more relaxed. These 2 are not hyper nor do they need a lot of activity. They don’t mind walks around the neighborhood. We’re not sure how they do with children but based on how they’ve been, we do not recommend young children. Jack and Jill would make fabulous companions for the perfect household. Jack and Jill are spayed/neutered, heart worm negative, current on preventions, microchipped, and will receive a health certificate prior to adoption from a vet giving them a clean bill of health. Story
** Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea ** Meet Leeju👋 She was found on the street in South Korea at just 2 months old and sent to a high-risk city shelter along with her four siblings. Luckily, she was rescued right before euthanasia by the rescue team and sent to her foster home 2 months later. Her foster family has been taking good care of her since, and she’s been living peacefully with the resident dog. LeeJu is now more than ready for a furever home! • Personality: Friendly, Curious, Cautious LeeJu is such a friendly and lovable pup with a curious and cautious personality. Her energy level is mid-low as she mostly chills in a kennel at home and prefers to have light walkies mainly for the bathroom. • Affinity with - Dogs: Super friendly with other dogs as long as they are not too large or aggressive. She doesn’t respond to barking dogs as well. She currently lives with a resident dog in her foster home, so she will be a good fit for a family with other furry companions. - Cats: Good with cats. - Adults/Kids: Good with both adults & kids. She is calm even when kids pet her. • Walking Manners: Well-mannered! • Housetrained: Fully housebroken, mainly using the bathroom outdoors but sometimes indoors when she can’t go outside. • Bathing/Brushing: Very good. • Car Rides: Not anymore. She got better at car rides. Her foster tries to walk her for potty before jumping into the car. • Separation Anxiety: None. • Barks/Howls: A little bit towards continued noise from outside the house. • Appetite/Food Allergies: She likes any sort of food! / No food allergies. • Likes/Dislikes: She loves being petted on her face while snuggling up to your side! / She feels cold easily due to her short coat. • Shedding level (1~10): 5-6 If you have an open heart and a loving home for Leeju, please don't hesitate to apply!

Story
Min Pin lovers, we need you! Isaiah and AnnaMae are a sweet gentle father/daughter duo sadly given up due to their owner’s housing issues. They are loyal loving little dogs, fine with other small dogs, and sleep together burrowed under blankets. Isaiah has an incredibly soft fawn colored coat. He’s 8 years old but his teeth were severely infected and painful and he’s having a years overdue dental today where we expect most of his teeth will need to be extracted. AnnaMae is 7 years old and in pretty good shape except for the obvious elephant 🐘 in the room… SEVERE obesity, about double her ideal body weight 😬 19.5 lbs‼️ Bloodwork doesn’t show any other concerns besides being overfed so we are hopeful once we get some weight off of her she will hopefully live a longer and healthier life. Email njwoof@cs.com if you would like to adopt this sweet young senior pair in Northern NJ. BOGO adoption fee for these cuties, we would love to get them settled into a permanent home quickly! Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Pacer, a black and tan Miniature Pinscher, about 4.5 years old on 5/19/24, was rescued 2 years ago. He was morbidly obese and appeared to be in a catatonic state when we got him. He was so terrified that he completely shut down and moved so little that we were concerned that he wasn’t even breathing. We took him to the vet to bring him up to date on vaccinations, but decided to wait until he was less terrified before we put him through the trauma of being neutered. He was neutered and vaccinations updated on 5/31/24. Pacer, unfortunately, tested positive for heartworms and is on the slow kill, doxycycline protocol. Pacer will do best in a quiet home with an experienced dog owner. Due to his fearfulness, he will not be considered for homes with young children. Pacer is located in Arkansas. He currently weighs about 15 pounds. His adoption donation is $465 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to give Pacer the loving home he deserves and help him develop into the confident little guy he can become, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. href="http://dhd.coffeecup.com/forms/bhsapp/">You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer will contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Banana’s owner became homeless and had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome her. So far her foster dads in Texas have not found a flaw. We think she is a Min Pin/Terrier mix. She is an older gal who weighs 20 pounds, a great size for snuggling which Banana loves! Banana gets along with both dogs and cats! She's a calm and easygoing gal who is house trained and crate trained. She's a good listener and also quiet. You couldn't ask for a better dog than Banana - she's pretty much perfect! Banana has tested positive for heartworm. She will be getting treatment in Texas before making the trip to NJ to find a forever home. If you'd like to bring Banana into your life, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for her by name, BANANA TX!November 3, 2024, 7:59 pm
