Story
Isaiah, I’ve been calling him Little Man affectionately and Isiah when he being trained. He’s timid & extremely sweet. Everybody fell in love with him at the Vet. The guy would had them apparently had a hidden life behind closed doors The place was in shambles and the dogs were living in deplorable conditions. He was a hoarder, and the dogs were shitting and pissing everywhere. They were eating, moldy bread, pizza and whatever else fell on the floor. He got a Rabies vaccination & bloodwork. His mouth is a mess, he‘s that’s severe periodontal disease, and everything needs to come out. He will try and save the canines so his tongue won’t stay hanging out of his mouth. His bloodwork came back so far positive for Lyme, so he just started on Doxycycline. And, he’s gonna be on it for 30 days and then needs to be tested. I have two other dogs he goes to the bathroom with them outside. But I wouldn’t call him housebroken. He wouldn’t go through the doggy door to go out but he will come in. He’s definitely been inside most of his life. (So how he has Lymes make’s no sense) When I can’t be with him I keep him in a crate. I take him out every 30 mins. If he doesn’t go to the bathroom then he goes back in. He gets tons of love when he’s out. And he definitely loves the attention and affection. It’s apparent that there’s been a shortage of that in his life.

Story
MEET PISTACHIO! Pistachio is a 12ish year old Miniature Pinscher with a frustrating story. His former owner originally tried to surrender him to a local shelter because they could no longer afford to care for a pet but when they learned that there was an intake wait and he could not be taken into the shelter immediately, he was abandoned in a local park despite having very limited vision. Shelter staff picked him up wandering around as a stray days later. Pistachio quickly landed a foster home thankfully and he's proven to be a fun, sweet little companion ever since! He's been a very easy foster dog - he's completely housebroken and hasn't had any accidents. He loves to eat (don't we all) and isn't picky but does especially love wet food. Despite being an older guy, Pistachio has a great energy level and is actually pretty quick when he wants to be! He can't see well but he recognizes voices immediately and loves to greet you at the door when he hears you come home. He'll bounce around in delight and paw at your legs to say hi! He is currently living with other dogs in foster care and doesn't mind sharing his space with them but the more rambunctious younger dogs make him a little uncomfortable. He'll bark and act as "the fun police" if they're overwhelming him. He'd be happy in a home with other low-key, friendly dogs like himself! He is also living with cats and is great with them! Because he's visually impaired, we think he'd be happier in a home without young/small kids. Pistachio is an orthopedic bed connoisseur and will snuggle right up for his afternoon (and morning and evening) naps. Since coming to the rescue, Pistachio has gotten a full medical workup. His blood work is all unremarkable which is great for a senior dog. He does have some age-related arthritis like most small senior dogs and takes Rimadyl daily to stay feeling good. He received a dental cleaning and one painful tooth extracted. He does have a large lipoma (fatty mass) on his hip/groin which doesn't impact his mobility and doesn't require any care. Overall, he's in great health! Pistachio is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in adopting him?
