Story
Location: Charleston, WVDOB: 02/28/2021Bing Bong (aka the sub-boofer) came to us as an owner surrender. Despite being separated from his entire pack, Bing Bong adjusted within a matter of hours. All he needed were ear rubs, neck scratches, and his toys. He is such a smart boy and knows how to “sit”, “shake”, “lay down”, and will even try to “roll over.” More impressive, he knows “stay”, “wait”, and “drop it.” He is food and toy motivated and will play fetch for hours if you let him (granted he mostly just trots back and forth bringing you his favorite toys). Our favorite thing about this big guy is his vocalization. If you stop petting him too soon, he will correct you with the sweetest little whines or a sassy little “boof.” Because of his size, these boofs and vocalizations can be intimidating, however, we never saw any aggression from this guy. And if he brings you a toy and you refuse to take it, he’s going to give you his smolder, a big ole “boof”, lots of tail wags, and beg you to keep playing. (If you don’t, he will just lay down at your feet or in his crate—completely pitiful!). Bing Bong is not a jumper. If you let him, he will gingerly get up on the couch and snuggle in beside you. Or he may flop down right on top of you! While Bing Bong is crate trained, we generally let him have free roam of the house. He does have a tendency to whine if you keep him separated from you during the day (he wants to be where his people are!). But we do not let him in the bedroom with us or our dogs at night and he does not bark or whine from his doggy bed in the living room. Bing Bong is house trained (never had an accident in our home). He also has wonderful manners on leash and good recall. While he is very curious about other animals, he does not seem interested in chasing them (we have lots of deer, squirrels, and even raccoons on the property). He was very interested in our senior cat. But—in true Bing Bong form—he gingerly walked up to the kitty and gave a small sniff. We were able to introduce Bing Bong to our senior dogs within 48 hours. And by day four, we were all coexisting easily. Bing Bong does not seem interested in playing with other dogs (and, for the most part, just ignores them—much to the disappointment of our Great Dane). He is genuinely a sweet boy who just wants your love. And he is more than willing to share his people (just not his toys)! This big ole baby will melt your heart and make a wonderful addition to your family.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org.
