Story
Kodiak is the true definition of an adventure buddy! Do you enjoy hiking, running, biking, swimming or exploring? Kodiak is the perfect dog for you! In fact he is already and waiting at the door for you! He is an intelligent dog who is capable of learning extremely quickly. He already knows the commands sit, down, stay, come, and speak! Kodiak’s greatest strength is his loyalty; Up or down, good or bad, happy or sad it will be Kodiak and you against the world. What makes Kodiak special is that he has so much love to give. The exact reasons you are looking for a dog are the same reason Kodiak desperately wants his forever human. He will need a very active adult-only family to drain his energy in order to keep him happy. Kodiak is looking for an experienced and confident owner to continue working on his reactivity to dogs and new people. He will need a strong leader to slowly introduce him to new people using the methods he has been taught while at Dog Tales. Kodiak is not friendly with strangers, children or other animals. Therefore he will need to live in a house with a fully fenced backyard. Once he is comfortable with a person he will become very attached and a great listener. Kodiak is looking for his chance with someone special. Upon adoption, Dog Tales can provide training for Kodiak and you in order to set you up for success.

Story
Hello! My name is Jake!I came into the Guelph Humane Society in June very scared and under-socialized. My GHS friends and foster parents have been working very hard to help me learn that the world isn`t so scary. Once I warm up, you will see I have the best wiggle-bum. And I enjoy neck scratches and bum scratches. I`m still working on my confidence as little things can scare me, such as noises and movements. When I feel comfortable though, I can be quite silly and playful. I`m looking for an experienced home that is patient and can dedicate time to helping me continue to come out of my shell!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok, no young children given my sensitive nature.OTHER DOGS: No, unfortunately I don`t have much experience with dogs and am not very comfortable with them.CATS: Potentially, with a cat confident around dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I am looking for a family that has lots of dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Required.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings due to my fearful nature.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes!If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the `adopt me` button to apply!

Story
Hello! My name is Rooster!I`ve been at the Guelph Humane Society for many months receiving care for my uncomfortable skin infection. I`m feeling much better now and ready to find my new home! I`m a big sweetheart once I warm up to you but I am quite nervous of new people. My discomfort involves barking and pulling on leash, which can be startling since I`m a large, strong boy. I am looking for a home that has the time, experience and interest in working with me through training to overcome my fears. I am playful and enjoy other dogs and would love to join a home with a confident dog friend to help show me that humans aren`t so bad!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers only, due to my nervousness.OTHER DOGS: Yes, a home with a well-socialized, easy-going dog would be preferred for my success!CATS: Yes, a cat confident around dogs and not overwhelmed by puppy exuberance.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best in a home that has experience caring for dogs previously.FENCED-IN YARD: Required, given my size and energy.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings or environments where strangers may get too close inadvertently and cause me to bark.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: In the beginning, yes, but I can be left for longer times as I adjust to the new home.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-high puppy energy!HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes, but expect some accidents as I settle in.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the `adopt me` button to apply!FOSTER ME! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me by copying and pasting the following link to fill out the questionnaire: https://guelphhumane.ca/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=frm_forms_preview&form=7y88o.The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet.
