Story
Hey there, Arnold here! If you're searching for a handsome, fun-loving guy who's always up for an adventure, I'm your dog! I'm currently hanging out in my kennel, patiently waiting for the chance to meet you and show you just how great I am. The volunteers here love taking me to events because I'm a rockstar in the car and well-behaved in public. I’m the life of the party during pack walks with my dog friends, and I have a blast at playgroups. But don’t worry, I’m just as excited to play with my humans, too—especially when it comes to tug-of-war! Just a heads-up though... I’ve got some serious tug strength, so you better be ready, because I might just pull you down in the process! I’m looking for an active, fun-loving family who can keep up with my energy. I’m eager to learn, so I’ll need a family that has the time and patience to continue my training and match my enthusiasm. I currently know sit, down, paw, look/focus, stay, and come. I am a total rockstar when it comes to obedience commands and super easy to train with food. While I still need to work on my leash manners, I promise I’ll be an amazing hiking or jogging buddy once I’ve got those down. A fenced-in yard is a must for me to run and play, and I’d be thrilled to have older kids who can appreciate my playful, sometimes clumsy nature. If you’ve got another dog, that could be awesome too! We just need to make sure we’re introduced properly. I’m crate-trained and have been noted to be accident-free in a home setting, so I’ve got the basics covered. I can’t wait to meet you and your family! Don’t miss the chance to bring this handsome, energetic guy into your life. Together, we’ll make memories that’ll last a lifetime! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Arnold, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates on their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Maisy is a 5-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as her paws! She came to us as a stray from Sumpter, severely underweight and clearly having been through a lot. But oh, how far she’s come! With time, love, and plenty of good meals, Maisy has transformed into a healthy, happy pup who’s ready for her forever home.Despite her tough start, Maisy’s outlook on life is nothing short of amazing. She’s always wiggly with excitement to see people and has never met a stranger—she’s as friendly and affectionate as they come. Her favorite things? Stuffy toys (even if they only last a few minutes), snacks (she`s very food motivated), and simply hanging out with her humans.Maisy is still learning the ropes of home life, including potty training and basic manners, but her eagerness to please and strong bond with her people make her a great student. She’s mellow by nature and prefers relaxed exploration in the yard over high-energy activities. While she hasn’t quite figured out how to “play” just yet, we can tell she’s curious and interested—and with time, she might just become a pro! She’s currently unsure around other dogs but has done fine in calm playgroups, mostly keeping to herself. If you already have a dog at home, we’re still happy to consider a meet-and-greet to see how they might get along. As for cats—we’re not sure yet.Maisy would do best in a moderately active home, possibly with older kids and maybe a laid-back dog sibling. Most importantly, she needs a patient and loving family who can help her continue her journey from survivor to spoiled companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful, easygoing girl to share your heart and home with—Maisy might just be your perfect match.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If you would like to meet Maisy, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention. Maisy is currently heartworm positive, which means she can`t begin heartworm prevention until she completes her treatment. But don’t worry—FMAR covers the full cost of her heartworm treatment and will begin her care right here at the shelter through our partnership with HCVS.You`re still encouraged to apply to adopt Maisy! We’ll work closely with yo

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Chompers – The Gentle Giant Ready for His Forever Home! Name: Chompers Breed: Olde English Mastiff Weight: A whopping 155 pounds Age: Born around September 2023 About Chompers: Chompers may be large in size, but his heart is even bigger! This friendly and outgoing giant is a bundle of love and joy, looking for a family that can handle his size and love his big heart. At just over a year old, Chompers has plenty of energy to burn, and he’s ready to spend his days playing, cuddling, and exploring with you. Chompers gets along wonderfully with other dogs and seems to thrive when he has furry friends to play with. Whether it’s chasing a ball or just lounging together, he’s all about companionship. Because of his size, he’d do best in a home with kids 13 years or older—he's just too big for younger ones to safely play with, but he’s gentle and loving with everyone he meets! Why Chompers? Loyal and Loving: This gentle giant will shower you with affection and loyalty. Playful: With his outgoing nature, Chompers is always up for fun and games—especially with other dogs! Big Heart: While he may be large, his heart is as soft as can be. He just wants to be part of the family. Perfect for Active Families: If you’re an active household looking for a big buddy to share adventures with, Chompers might just be the perfect fit! What Chompers Needs: Chompers is looking for a loving family that understands the needs of a large breed dog. His new home should have space for him to stretch his legs, play, and relax comfortably. He’s ready to learn all about his new home and will need some guidance as he continues to grow and mature. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, and giant companion, Chompers is your guy. Come meet him and see what an amazing addition he’ll be to your family! Ready to make Chompers part of your pack? Don’t wait—contact us today to meet this sweet boy and see if you’re the right fit for his forever home! Story
Nina is a 3 year old Mastiff mix. She was adopted around 6 months old from the animal shelter. She does not think she is a big dog, and loves to cuddle and always wants to be around people! She will attempt to lay in your lap whenever she can. Shes house broken and also crate trained. Rarely barks unless she hears a noise late at night, but nothing excessive. Shes good with other dogs(when introduced properly), cats and kids! She’s a bigger dog and would knock a smaller kid down, please keep that in mind! She needs a fenced yard, or a way to keep her from running off. She loves attention and at times can be needy, a big lap dog. Please reach out with any questions- I’ll be happy to answer them! She’s a really great dog! I would like her to go to someone who has the time and commitment for a great companion!
