Story
Rio is a mastiff mix who weighs 120lbs! He is looking for a new furever home with his little brother Bruno. They are best friends and love each other very much. They have been through a lot together as of recently. Their owner was forced to surrender the both of them due to having to move out of the country and unable to bring their beloved dogs with them. He has only one request. That they stay together in their new home, so they are a bonded pair. Rio does well with other dogs and kids of all ages, including infants. He is loyal, playful, and affectionate. He is a big baby and is a gentle giant. They are currently living in a foster home with a very nice family, so they will not be able to do walk-ins. An appointment would need to be scheduled to meet these two boys.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). Story
Meet Tassels: A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold Introducing Tassels, also lovingly called Mumma by her fosters, a majestic 1.5-year-old Mastiff/Mountain Cur mix whose journey to happiness is truly inspiring. Rescued from a life of uncertainty while extremely pregnant and terrified, Tassels has shown incredible resilience. She was elusive for over a year, only seen on a Ring camera in the Detroit neighborhood she roamed, until we finally secured her safety. Since then, she has blossomed in foster care, watching her babies find their forever homes. Now, it's her turn! Why Tassels is Special: Loving and Affectionate: Tassels expresses her love by placing her massive head in your lap or under your hand for scratches. Her affectionate nature makes her a wonderful companion. Well-Trained and Mannered: She knows basic commands, is potty trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. Playful and Joyful: Despite her size, Tassels is playful and enjoys the simple pleasures of cuddling, playing with toys, and lounging in the grass on sunny days. Her zoomies are a sight to behold and bring laughter and joy to everyone around her. Curious and Easygoing: Over the months, Tassels has overcome her initial shyness and now approaches life with curiosity and ease. She’s come to enjoy her interactions with people and her foster sibling. Tassels’ Ideal Home: Tassels would thrive in a home without cats or small dogs. She can live with another dog, but a proper, slow introduction is necessary to ensure a harmonious relationship. Her ideal family will be one that can provide stability, plenty of space for her to stretch her legs, and lots of love. She responds wonderfully to food, affection, and praise, making her a delightful and grateful companion. Is Tassels the Missing Piece in Your Family? If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and serene companion to add warmth and joy to your home, consider welcoming Tassels into your life. She promises to fill your days with affection and happiness. Ready to adopt Tassels? Apply today! Visit our website to fill out an adoption application and learn more about how you can bring Tassels home! Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home and we want our adopters to be prepared for that! APPLY on our WEBSITE: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story
Klutz alert! Slobber warning! Yak was secured as a a stray a while back, and has now spent some time with us at the shelter. While a young mastiff mix is not the perfect match for all households - we know there must be someone out there wanting Yak! 1 year old, clumsy and bouncy, already neutered and ready to learn everything you want to teach him! Yak loves sharing his affection and enthusiasm with everyone he meets. He wants to hold onto his toys, but still allows for some fetch play. Yak is not barking at the other dogs at the shelter. He is ready to go as a foster or a foster-to-adopt immediately. Yak is a big puppy who needs consistency and a small world to succeed. Please share and tag lovers of big boys. rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt Included in the adoption fee of $275 is up to date vet care, vaccines, dewormer microchip and neuter.

Tom is Ready to Find His Family! Do you remember sweet Tom, from Tom and Jerry, who we rescued just a few weeks ago? This brave boy has been on an incredible journey of healing, and now he’s ready for the next chapter in his story. This absolute lover boy will steal your heart with his snuggles and his hilarious “talking” when he wants something (he has lots to say)! Tom is: -Dog-friendly -Kid-friendly (due to his size he would be better with older kids) -The ultimate cuddle buddy who will happily sit on your lap for all the love he can get! Now all he needs is a family to call his own. Tom is looking for a foster home or a Foster-To-Adopt home where he can continue to thrive and share his boundless love.

Story
Meet Ginger, a gentle giant with a heart full of love. This sweet senior gal is searching for a foster or forever home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by love and comfort. Ginger thrives on attention and affection, always happiest when she’s by your side or curled up at your feet. While she’s a low-energy lady, she still has a youthful spirit and enjoys short walks and exploring outside. Due to her current heartworm treatment, her activity is limited, but she’s found joy in sensory activities like licking peanut butter from her Kong or crunching on ice cubes. Here’s what makes Ginger so special: Food Lover: She’s incredibly food-motivated, so keeping counters and snacks out of reach is a must. Dog Friendly: Ginger gets along wonderfully with other dogs she meets. Cat Approved: She does well with cats after a brief warm-up period. Potty Trained: She’s reliable when given regular bathroom breaks. Low Energy: Perfect for a calm, slower-paced household. Ginger is looking for a patient and loving home to help her settle in and enjoy life at her own pace. She’ll be your laid-back companion, always ready for snuggles and gentle strolls. If you’re looking for a big, sweet-hearted dog to share your home with, Ginger might be your perfect match. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health.
