Story
Meet Yeager! A devoted six-and-a-half-year-old Mastiff, American Pitbull Terrier, and Great Pyrenees mix from Bethlehem, CT, whose heart is as big as his 70-pound frame. With a brindled fawn-colored coat that gleams in the sunlight and a soul that craves connection, Yeager is a lovable blend of strength, sweetness, and sensitivity. Yeager is the ultimate running partner and sunbathing enthusiast. Whether he's bounding beside you on a trail or sprawled out in a sunbeam with his paws in the air, he’s happiest just being near his people! Around kids, he shines—gentle and obedient, especially during mealtime when he’ll sit patiently with drool dripping in anticipation until he hears the magic word: “free!” He’s also crate-trained and house-trained, and though he does require a sturdy, escape-proof crate, he often chooses to snuggle up in it all on his own—it’s his safe little haven. Yeager’s heart is warm and full of affection, but it’s also a bit tender. After a traumatic veterinary experience a couple of years ago, he’s become more cautious around unfamiliar people. While he has never bitten anyone, he may growl or snap at the air when he feels unsafe. He’s working on his trust-building journey with the help of medication and positive reinforcement, but his next family should be patient and understanding—someone who will give him the calm, loving space he needs to settle in and thrive. He gets along famously with other dogs, having a blast with his canine cousins, and he’s an affectionate cuddle-bug to his human family! However, a home without cats or one experienced with slow introductions would be best due to his excitable play style. He’s also terrified of thunderstorms and fireworks, so a peaceful setting and a patient caregiver during loud events will help him feel secure. Yeager’s story is one of resilience, loyalty, and deep love. Are you the kind soul who can offer this beautiful boy the safety, companionship, and calm environment he needs to flourish in his next chapter? Story
Atlantis is a beautiful and sensitive girl who is looking for a special home of her own! She is an extra large lady who can be nervous in new situations and meeting new people, but once she becomes your friend she is super silly and snuggly. Atlantis would likely do best in a calm, quiet home in a low-traffic neighborhood where she can take her time adjusting and enjoy peaceful walks in nature. When she feels comfortable, Atlantis loves to romp around and play with toys—sometimes forgetting just how big she is when she gets excited and bouncy! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Meet Clover – Your Lucky Charm! Clover is an 9-month-old, big-hearted boy who’s as sweet as they come! Found as a stray, this gentle giant is looking for a forever family to give him the love and guidance he deserves. He’s affectionate, kind, and eager to please, but as a growing pup, he’ll need an experienced owner who understands large breeds. To help Clover be the best boy he can be, his adopters must have large dog experience and provide proof of enrollment in obedience classes at the time of adoption. Because of his size and energy, a home with children 10 and older is preferred. If you’re ready to bring home a lovable, oversized cuddle bug, come meet Clover—he might just be your four-legged lucky charm!

Story
This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2345600##

Story
Well, he’s a very sweet and loving dog. My friend got arrested and left him with his mom but she didn’t want to take care of him so rather than putting him in a shelter she threw him onto me. Of course I don’t mind taking care of him he isn’t a bother at all but unfortunately where I live it doesn’t allow big dogs. He’s super over protective so once he grows a liking to you strangers will have a hard time coming near you🥺. He’s good with kids but he’s really big and when he gets excited he forgets his size and may knock someone over he is 130-140 lbs. Lastly he’s good with small dogs and cats although they aren’t fawned of him lol and big female dogs but he’s not good around bigger male dogs at all. He’s kind of spoiled since he’s always be an only child so he’s not used to being around a bunch of people or other big males without getting super protective. He OBSESSED WITH BALLS/STICKS so make sure you can play catch 😇. He’s a sweetheart, super goofy and loving 🥺❤️.
