RETTA is a 4 year old female mastiff mix that weighs 83 lbs. She came to us as a shelter stray and in her case, we know the backstory. It's sad. She belonged to a gentleman who took good care of her. But he passed away and not long after, RETTA found herself alone and running. Her refuge? The median of I71. During this time, she must have been hit as there is an old break in her back leg. After months, she was trapped by animal control. It doesn't take dogs long to revert to a feral state. Fortunately for RETTA, her years as being a loyal companion were not completely forgotten. That said, dogs never jump right back to happy and wagging. It's taken us another couple months to find a glimmer in her eye and a wag to her nubbins of a tail. She is relearning how to play with other dogs (which she can do!) go through doorways without hesitation, and gain the trust of a human. At this point, she warms up to women quickly. She is a wonderful, beautiful dog that never counted on her life being turned upside down. She is healing inside and out but will need a special home. Story
Zoey is a 10yo mastiff that was tied out 24/7 for a few years, before that she lived in a garage. Dispite a hard life, she is the sweetest dog. She can be sensitive to correction, but has quickly realized she is in a safe place now. There has been no aggression, and she is not food aggressive, I can reach in her bowl while she eating and no reaction. She does have anxiety and takes meds. Vet thinks in the right environment she may not need to stay on it. Zoey is leash reactive, please google it if you don’t know what that is. We are slowly trying to help her with leash reactivity.. and successfully use a head collar for pulling during walks. Zoey is very smart, eager to please and listens well. She is cautious of new people, but warms up fairly quickly, and is quite friendly. She currently lives with 2 senior chihuahuas, and 4 cats. Our cats let her know they are in charge, and she mostly just avoids them.

I adopted Wilbur at 8 weeks old in March 2023. Recently I went back to work in the airline industry and I'm out of town more than I'm at home. I don't have the time to devote to Wilbur as I feel is necessary. He's the sweetest and most gentle boy and wants to be by my side at all times. He loves walks around the neighborhood and playdates with his friends. He has two cat roommates that he is very fond of. He enjoys chasing them around the house but does them no harm. I think Wilbur would thrive on a farm or similar setting.
