Story
MAXX & ME PET RESCUE adoptable dogsMeet Chip!   This handsome Mastiff mix is currently looking for his forever home. He is about 4 years old and 60-70lbs, although he looks larger (think tall, dark and handsome ;-). Chip currently lives with several other dogs and does great, but we feel that he may like to be your only dog or just with one very nice dog. He needs a calm environment.   Chip was rescued from Miami Dade Animal Services after we saw videos of him shaking in his kennel there. He was brought to us in Tampa and has been in a foster home ever since. While he can take a bit to warm up to new people, once he trusts you, he will bond very deeply with you and count on you for reassurance and love. He loves women and chooses them first.    He is cuddly, gives kisses to his people and interacts with the other dogs in his home. He needs a secure 6' fenced yard (no exceptions) and ideally just a single person or a couple for a quiet home. Because of his nervousness, he needs a home without children, just a quiet serene environment where he can love his people.    Chip is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention. His adoption donation is $250.    Adoption applications for Chip can be done at maxxandme.org. Please send one email to maxxandmerescue@gmail.com to confirm receipt of your application.    Maxx & Me is an all volunteer, all foster home rescue and do not have a shelter. Please allow at least 48 hours for applications to be processed (missing information may slow the process, so please take your time and be thoughtful in your answers). All dogs posted are available (so no need to ask). We place dogs based on best home for each dog and not order of applications received. Email us at maxxandmerescue@gmail.com for updates and questions. Thank you for choosing rescue. November 3, 2024, 8:21 pm

Story
Cal is a young, adult male mastiff/coonhound mix looking for a home where he can share all his love. He had a rough start in life as a stray left to fend for himself. He was found by an altruistic person that offered him a temporary home. During this time, it was determined that Cal had likely been struck by a car sustaining a rear leg fracture that healed improperly. Circumstances changed in his foster home and Cal made Satchel's his home. As time passed, it became evident that his broken leg, although healed, was not functioning properly. After extensive medical evaluation, it was determined that the best course of action for a pain free and active life was to amputate the limb. Now, Cal is the fun-loving guy he was always destined to be, running and playing without discomfort. He races about on his three legs, jumps the hurtles in the agility yard and navigates the tube tunnel with more exhilaration than any other dog at Satchel's! Cal feels most comfortable with slow introductions to unfamiliar people but once he chooses a new friend, he is an adoring canine companion. He exudes happiness, jumping with joy when he spots his favorite staff members or volunteers and is most content when being pet by his friends. He is easy to walk, enjoys car rides, and wants to be in close proximity to his loved ones. His new family will likely never sit on the couch alone again! Cal has lived with another canine in the home and has not exhibited any indications that this would not be possible again in the future. For an appointmentto meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website satchelslastresort.org/adopt/
