Story
Theo was found as a stray. I got him as an emergency foster and he’s been such an easy to train, loving, timid boy. Shy at first and will hide until he knows the coast is clear, once ready to say hello he is goofy. He moves very slowly and hardly makes a sound around the house. If he sees or hears something suspicious he gives a deep, gentle bark to let you know. When it’s dinner time you get to see how he bucks like a bronco before he sits politely and waits for the, ok, to eat. At 2 years old and 116lbs he still has a bit of growing to do. He has had absolutely no issues in the last year I’ve had him. He gets along with all the dogs and lets you bath him and clip his nails with no fuss. Large breeds like him take longer to mature so even though he is technically an adult, he’s still a big baby that needs guidance to build confidence. Looking for a perfect home should be easy. He loves cuddles, treats, and going out for ‘sniffaris’

Story
AVAILABLE BY APPOINTMENT! Hi there, my name is Atticus and I'm a 9-month-old, neutered mastiff mix that currently weighs about 54lbs. I'm still a growing boy and will be around 70lbs as and adult. I'm a sweet and friendly guy that likes to ponder life's big questions. Where do the treats come from? Will I be the bestest boy? How many naps can one take in a day? I hope to answer all of my questions in my new home. I'm a food motivated pup that loves to learn. I'm currently working on impulse control, so I'm hoping for a family that's prepared to continue my training. I hope to find a family that is able to philosophize with me. For more information, just ask Customer Service about Atticus! ID# A957791  Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by submitting your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to adoptinquire@peninsulahumanesociety.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance. Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.March 5, 2025, 9:06 pm

Story
Sky is a sweet, gentle, 8-year-old Mastiff mix who was found as a stray in Tehama County and spent 2 months in their shelter. We are so glad she found her way to Lily’s Legacy. Sky loves to romp the property where she is being fostered followed by a nice long nap. She is adorable as she shows you her sit, shake and down follow by a “please rub my belly”. She also loves to play with stuffies and balls, and is learning the ins and outs of fetch. You will often find her with her favorite toy in her mouth which she will proudly show you. Sky lives with 4 other dogs in her foster home – 2 young, and 2 seniors. She is gentle and respectful with the seniors and keeps up with the energy of the young ones. We don’t know how she feels about cats. Sky sleeps soundly through the night and is proving to be a wonderful houseguest. Her soft beautiful brindle fur and big soft squishy nose make her a wonderful cuddle buddy too. Unfortunately, she tested positive for heartworm so will be going through treatment over the next couple months. The good news is that the heartworm was diagnosed early, so we expect her to make a full recovery. Sky is doing very well in her foster home where she is getting lots of attention and TLC.
