Story
Dozer has been waiting to be a permanent guest on someones couch for 210 DAYS! He is one of our favorites in the rescue, he's goofy, cuddly, and a big baby! He always runs out of his kennel with a toy in his mouth because he's just so excited! When excited he will try and nibble you with the front of his teeth if theres not a toy around to grab. this can look intimidating to people if you don't know him. Dozer has limited range of motion in his neck due to wobblers syndrome. Before being surrendered to us, he had 2 intensive surgeries on his neck to get him back to himself. Because of the operations his surgeons said that he is only to be walked on a harness. For the most part, he is non systematic. The one thing we've noticed since we've had him is he will every now and then drag his back foot. He's still up for going on long walks! Other than that he's a healthy and fit, but clumsy guy! His favorite thing is car rides!! He does FANTASTIC in the car and is always down for an adventure. As of now, we are looking for a home without any other dogs. He does well with dogs, but because of his neck, we want to limit rough play. Prior to his surrender, he lived with a young golden retriever. They did well together, but the owner couldn't read when Dozer was done playing with the overexcited puppy, so Dozer was forced to hand out some corrections to the other dog. Dozer needs to go to a home with NO cats. If other dogs are in the home, the prospective adopter must be ok with multiple greetings, slow introductions, and keeping the dogs separated in the beginning. Dozer is absolutely ready for his next and final adventure! Want to learn more about him? Fill out an application for him here: https://www.handoverrover.org/adoptionapplication

Story
Duke is an amazing, lovable, giant of a dog. Nothing is known about Dukes’s past, he was found alone in the desert by hikers. He did not have a microchip or other identification and there was no response to Anthem Pets' attempts to find his owner. Duke is a large breed dog, possibly a mastiff, and is estimated to be about 3 years old.  He was intact when found, but knows basic obedience and has clearly lived in a home before. Duke has already learned his new name and has a very good recall. He understands sit and shake, and continues to learn additional commands. He is a sweet and goofy boy but will need a home with an experienced dog owner. Duke is a kind boy but can jump and gently mouth when excited. Duke walks extremely well on a leash and has only shown interest and self-control in meeting other animals. However, his exuberance and size can be intimidating for some. Duke is currently in foster care with another large dog and 4 cats, he would enjoy another dog friend. Duke is so loveable and only wants attention. He will lean into for scratches and likes to sleep nearby for hours. He also really likes car rides. Duke has some separation anxiety and can be quite the escape artist. He will need a 6 foot fenced yard and work with kennel time when left alone. With time and another dog he has adjusted to this well in foster care. His adoption fee of $300 includes a microchip, vaccinations, and neuter surgery. If you would like to set up a Meet & Greet and be considered for adoption, please click on the button with the pet’s name to fill out an application. Someone will contact you within 24 hours. If you have difficulty with the application, please email us at Rescue@AnthemPets.org. NOTE: Only Arizona based adoption inquiries will be considered. Anthem Pets Website: www.anthempets.org

Story
I'm a strong and active boy who thinks I'm a lap dog. I get excited when it's time to go on walks, but then once we're walking, I'm calm. I do get excited when I meet kids, but after I will calm down and I leave them alone, unless they keep playing with me. Little kids might be afraid of me because of my size and run away from me and I think that they want to play, so just watch them. I would do best in a home with older children. My best day would be to: Going for a car ride to a park to go for a walk and then come home and nap. Other tidbits about me: I do fine being left out to roam the house when no one is home, because all I do is lay on the couch. I like being introduced to other dogs slowly and properly, otherwise I get over-excited. If, when I first meet new people and they have sunglasses on, I can get scared. As I am a pretty big boy, I can be strong when I get excited, so you need to be ready if you have the leash. I am not really interested in toys, but there are times when I do get the urge. I do slobber, so make sure to keep towels around.

Story
Penny came to us from the euthanasia list at the county shelter. She weighed a severely overweight 110 lbs and suffered from chronic eye issues. She was going to be euthanized for her medical needs. She was a volunteer favorite at the shelter, and what was more than clear to all of us was that this precious girl had simply never been given the chance to live the life she deserved. Since coming into our care, Penny has lost over 45 lbs and is looking better than we could have ever imagined. She has transformed into the type of dog who would fill her perfect home with all the love in the world. She loooves to play, adores her toys, has learned impressive obedience commands [and impulse control!], and she really is something special. Given her size and strength, Penny would do best with a person or family who can keep up her obedience work at home so she can continue to be her very best self and get in all the walks and activity that she needs. And speaking of home, she would love to be your one and only fur baby, and she made me promise to tell you that a yard for her would be a dream come true. Penny's adoption fee includes her completed veterinary exams, bloodwork, vaccines, microchip and spay. With her in it, we can promise your home won't feel empty again, and she is sure to steal your heart 100 times over...guaranteed! To meet Penny, apply here https://lovethemallrescue.org/penny. She is sure to steal your heart 100 times over.
