Story
12/23/24 This handsome guy is Bentley, and he was brought to the shelter with his buddy Lily because he was too big for the previous owner who is ill. With his big size brings great strength, so he needs someone that will take time to teach him leash manners. Making sure Bentley has plenty of physical and mental enrichment that can help with this behavior. Bentley was described as a lover to everyone but can be a little shy. Bentley was said to be kennel trained and housebroken and will go to the door to indicate he has to go. He is said to know some basic commands and was said to generally mind well. Bentley was described as being `cowardly` in new situations, so he is hoping his new home will have the patience to let him warm up to them. Bentley does have a couple lumps that are believed to be cystic at this time, but they should be monitored for changes. He was also seen by our shelter veterinarian for an upset tummy, and he has been doing much better since starting on food meant for sensitive stomachs. If you are interested in meeting Bentley, please give the shelter a call!December 27, 2024, 7:49 pm

Story
Benny was recently surrendered to the shelter and unfortunately, we did not get to learn about how he was in his home. During his time in the shelter Benny has been friendly and happy to meet new people! He has been out on a couple Miles for Mutts adventures and has done well. We do not know if Benny has lived with other animals or children. Benny has not been reactive towards the other dogs in the shelter and has a friendly demeanor when seeing them! Benny is a middle-aged dude who may not be looking for a rambunctious puppy to play with. We can always accommodate a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed! Benny loves to go on walks and appreciates having time outside. We haven`t seen him be too interested in toys but will pick one up if he`s trying to show off! Benny is becoming anxious in the shelter and is exhibiting some behaviors that may concern adopters. Benny is the type of dog who appreciates regular stimulation and enrichment - when he is bored, he may act out. We have noticed that Benny will attempt to hump when meeting new people. We do not know if this is something he did in his previous home, but we suspect that he does this because he is frustrated with boredom. In a home with regular exercise, we anticipate Benny being much happier. Benny does appear to be potty trained but please keep in mind that he will need time to adapt to his new home! He also walks well on a leash and knows the cues `sit`, `lay down` and `shake`We know Benny may sound like a handful, but we promise he is such a sweet dude who is so deserving of a forever home!
