Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!! Greetings! I'm Fluffy! My best friend, Poe, and I were allowed to wander the streets. Our owner just didn't care. I was pregnant at the time. Our rescuer begged for me to be able to come into rescue. So, our owner dumped me and unexpectedly and luckily dumped Poe too! I am a very pretty girl that is about three to four years old. I am mostly fluff and I weigh around eighty pounds. We are the friendliest duo and are exceptionally loving! We adore people and other doggies. We do love children but I can get excitable, so small children may get overwhelmed. We are true buddies. You will always find us hanging out together. We enjoy adventures and would follow you to the ends of the earth. All you have to do is make us yours! Love,Fluffy & Poe *Guest Posting**Discount for two!***Adoption Fee $275 for both If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, tell us and we will email it to you.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 1, 2024, 8:13 pm

Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! Please meet Bernie, who is a 98 lb. Anatolian Shepherd livestock guardian dog who will be a year old on February 28th!  Bernie is fully up to date on vaccines, dewormed, tested negative for heartworms, and current on flea and tick prevention. He is also scheduled for neutering on January 10. Large dogs are neutered later than normal.  Bernie knows basic commands, is incredibly cuddly, and would love to sit on your lap or climb on the couch if you let him! He is a very, very affectionate and loving dog. To top it off, he is extremely gentle when taking treats from your hand too! Bernie has done a fantastic job protecting our property, watching over our chickens, and alerting us when someone is around. However, he hasn’t been getting along with our male senior dog. He gets along great with our female lab and the neighbor’s 50 lb. shepherd mix. For everyone’s safety, we’ve made the difficult decision to find him a new home due to our older male dog. He does great around the toddler.  He is good on a leash, loves to ride in the car, and was very well behaved at the vet.  Bernie will thrive as a livestock guardian on a large property to patrol. If you or someone you know can give him the home he deserves, please reach out. The above was written by Bernie’s current owner.  Almost Home Animal Rescue is working with them to find him the perfect forever home.  Please contact Judy at judy@almosthometn.org or 865-300-8146 for more information or to request an application.  Adoption fee is $250.
