Meet your new vacation companion! This is Joker (AKA Joey!)
New Updates from Joey’s Foster Mom...
This is Joker-now AKA Joey... He is a Great Pyrenees and when this poor pup came to the kennel on August 2nd, 2023 he was 6 weeks old, and absolutely terrified. He came in with his 11 siblings, but was by far the most fearful. We are happy to report, he has blossomed in his foster home!
Here is what his foster parents have to say…. He’s been doing very well. We’ve been able to see him interact with lots of other dogs and with children as well. He’s been consistently exposed to other dogs at Club K9 and has shown no signs of aggression despite the fact that he can still get uncomfortable in new environments from time to time (it seems like his coping mechanism is to just go someplace by himself when he gets overwhelmed). At home they have been able to let him have free reign of the house when they leave, and he's done well. He also does well with car rides and with jumping in and out of the car. At home he keeps a constant vigil and takes his watch dog role seriously and will let you know if he hears or sees anything and when outside he does his perimeter checks. His foster family would consider him to be a lower energy dog who enjoys walks, belly rubs, and toys. He would do well in a relaxed environment and make someone a great companion!
The scoop on his road trip to NC…
-no car sickness or accidents
-no aggression with cats, horses, or rabbits
-enjoyed digging in the sand but doesn’t like the water
-continues to have zero food aggression, enjoys his walks, and patrolling the yard (cause that is what Great Pyr's do!)
Joey needs a loving, calm and most importantly, a patient home where someone is home more often than not, and who can spend time with him to help him build trust.

This guy... he has blossomed in his foster home! Here is what his foster parents have to say…. We’ve now had Joey for over a month. He is opening up more every day. Our dogs have seemed to really help with his confidence so it’s best he go to a home with another confident, stable, sweet dog who can help Joey build his OWN confidence from, and who can show him the ropes.. Not sure how he is around cats, but on our walks when he sees one he’s not interested. When going outside he loves doing his rounds and makes sure to alert us if he hears anything. He is super sweet and loves to put his paws right on me for pets and cuddles!
UPDATE 2-27 on Joey from his foster family "He’s settling in nicely after just about a week with his foster family. His favorite thing to do is to pull all of his toys out and try and pick apart the soft toys. He doesn’t chew on anything he’s not supposed to, has had no accidents in the house, and walks well on a leash. His personality is starting to come out and he is so sweet, someone out there will be lucky to have him"!

Interested applicants should expect Joey to be big, and you should be prepared for that sweet and independent Great Pyrenees personality... to know the Great Pyr breed is to love them, but they are not Goldens, and we suggest you do some research on this beautiful breed before applying! He will need a secure above ground fenced yard as Great Pyrs love to be in their yard to protect and patrol, and this happens best when they are in a secure space!
