Story
Betty was recently in heat, and therefore won’t be available to go to her new home until 12/7. However, she is available for meets with interested adopters! Betty is a medium-sized sweetie (approx. 40 lbs, but currently underweight) with a heart of gold. She is spunky and submissive, so she gets along well with other dogs and likes to give the 2-year-old child at her foster home little kisses. She does not jump up on people and loves kids, making her the ideal family dog with children of all ages. Her favorite pastimes include coming up to you for pets and snuggles, as well as chewing on a bone. Betty has completely ignored the cat at her foster home and is amazing on leash. While she has absolutely no food aggression (or any sign of aggression at all), she is very food motivated, and therefore will countersurf if left to her own devices and will need a slow-feeder bowl. Her eagerness to please and high food drive will likely make training a breeze. She has been known to be an escape artist and climb a 6ft fence if left alone and bored, so she will need to be supervised in the yard. She does prefer to stay with her people and get cuddles, so if you’re around she doesn’t have any motivation to fence jump. Come meet Betty with Big Bones Canine Rescue in Fort Collins!

Story
Hugo is a really funny, sweet boy who loves to play and cuddle on the couch. We rescued him when he was about 3 months old. He’s about 4 years old now, and we had a really amazing 3 years with him with our older dog, Bruce, and cat. Bruce passed last Dec and Hugo has been slowly showing us that he can no longer live with other animals. At first, he was depressed because of the loss of Bruce, and we adopted a puppy so he’’d have a companion. He did great with her, but after a few months, started aggressively chasing our cat. A few months after that, he was no longer good with our puppy. We have been pursuing care with a behavioral vet and have not made much progress. He may need time finding the right meds to help him with his anxiety, but maybe he’ll be just fine in a quieter home. He’s such a lush around adults, but he’s very freaked out by kids. He does not have separation anxiety, he is not destructive. He is a little reactive on leash, but training has been effective.
