This is Muffy! She’s a maltipoo and is about 8 years old. She weighs about 18 pounds. She’s potty trained and crate trained but not leash trained. She freezes up completely when a leash is put on her so a fenced in yard is a must. She has to be in the same as me at all times but does not like to interact much with me. She’s still terrified of sudden movements and sounds so it would be best if she had a house with no young kids. Muffy is very sweet once she gets comfortable. Looks who's ready for fall! Meet Hayes, he came in pretty matted so we got him a nice hair cut. He is a maltese/poodle cross, which means he is non shedding but requires regular haircuts. He would no best in a home with older children because of his size. He is not house trained but we are paper training him and he is doing great. Tate is an adorable maltipoo. He has more of the poodle in him. Tate love his toys and plays all day with them, He is a great addition however because of his size, we suggest a home with older children. Meet Sofia the cutest little senior ever! Sofia joined BAARK Dog Rescue after having been found as a stray. She was in bad shape, very matted and horribly underweight, as we learned after she was shaved down. Clearly all Sofia needed was a bath-and-shave, some good quality food, and lots of attention, cuddling, and love. Within just a couple of weeks, Sofia bounced back into a very sweet sociable little dog who is now looking for a forever family of her own. She absolutely loves people and other dogs; she is not fond of being left alone. The ideal pet parent for Sofia is someone who has plenty of time to devote to her, who will enjoy cuddling this precious pup, and will provide her the best care and all the attention she so deserves. Sofia is good with other dogs. While ok with older children who have been taught to be respectful of dogs, young children scare her. We do not know Sofia’s true age; she is estimated to be 12 years old. She weighs about 9 lbs. We believe she is a Maltipoo. Sofia appears to be housebroken; she goes outside with all the other dogs in her foster home. However she is not liking the cooler weather. She is learning to use potty pads indoors, in case the winter weather will be too much for her to handle. Sofia is fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, has had recent bloodwork, is heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, and is up to date on vaccinations. About Me: Name: Ya Ya Breed (or best guess): Shih Tzu - Poodle Approximate Age: 8 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 8 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Fenced Yard, Another Small Dog Why In Rescue: Puppy Mill Survivor Profile:   Ya Ya came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Ya Ya has been with us awhile but still isn't sure about being handled yet.  She will either follow the other dogs outside or can be picked up to be taken outside to the kennels.  She has barely started learning how to walk on a leash, so needs a fenced yard or secure potty area to work on housetraining.  She does need another dog in the home to make her feel comfortable and help her get use to life in a home. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation.
