Story
my Maltipoo Male Cream 10 years old 12 lbs Meet Sammy, a spunky, resilient, and affectionate little dog looking for an experienced, patient forever home. Sammy’s journey hasn’t been easy—he’s physically delicate due to chronic back issues caused by past injuries, and he can be easily startled in certain situations. However, with his medications, Sammy is full of energy, life, and love. At just 12 pounds, Sammy may be small, but his personality is big. He adores long walks, zoomies around the house, and playing with toys. He’s housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go out. Inside the home, Sammy gets along well with other dogs and respects their boundaries, but he is reactive to larger dogs while on walks. For this reason, he will need a dog-savvy adopter who understands his needs and can manage these encounters with care. Sammy is also learning to feel comfortable in a crate, viewing it as his safe space. While he’s not quite fully relaxing inside, he happily goes in to retrieve a treat or eat a meal in his favorite bed before heading back out. New experiences, like meeting unfamiliar people, may make him feel uncertain, but with reassurance and time, Sammy thrives. Above all, Sammy is a cuddle bug who loves nothing more than being close to his person. He’ll light up at the sound of “Good boy!” and will eagerly seek your affection. Sammy would do best with someone who works from home or is home much of the time, as he loves companionship and does not like being left alone for long periods.Sammy may have had a tough start, but his heart is full of love and his spirit is strong. If you’re an experienced adopter who can offer Sammy the understanding, care, and attention he deserves, he will reward you with endless snuggles and joy. Please Note: *Must have a FENCED-IN yard!* **No children under 12!** If you are interested in adopting SAMMY please go to our website www.somersetcottagepoodlerescue.org to see our adoption process and download the adoption application SAMMY's adoption donation is $550

Cherry a.k.a. Gigi Maltipoo Female White 8 lbs 5 years old Meet CHERRY aka GIGI: A Loyal Little Lady With a Heart of Gold! Gigi is a truly special girl who’s looking for a patient, understanding human to give her the forever home she deserves. While she’s still learning to fully trust people, this sweet pup has already made huge strides in opening her heart. Gigi thrives in a quiet environment and loves to attach herself to her person. She’ll place her paws on your legs when she wants to be lifted (just avoid picking her up under her belly—she’s not a fan!). This little cutie LOVES to play! Whether it’s zooming around after her morning walk or engaging in some pretend toy battles, Gigi’s playful side will keep you smiling. And while she has a thing for playbiting, toys are her favorite distraction! When new people visit, Gigi prefers a slow and steady approach. If guests ignore her at first, she’ll eventually sniff them out and may even curl up beside them when she’s ready. Deep down, she wants to love people—she just needs time and patience to get there. Gigi gets along wonderfully with other dogs around her size and would do well in a home with a calm canine companion. Gigi holds still for her harness and always stays to your left on walks. Gigi’s mealtime manners are on point! She’s a great eater who doesn’t beg too much—she’ll simply sit by your chair, politely waiting to see if she’ll score a treat. While Gigi is crate-trained, she’d much prefer to be by your side. After all, that’s where she feels safest and happiest!Gigi is a resilient, loving girl who’s ready to find a patient, kind-hearted person to help her thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’ll cherish you as much as you cherish her, Gigi might just be your perfect match. Story
My birthday is 1/23/15! Yes… it is rare that we know an exact birthday for a rescue pup. But Sophie was loved her entire life, a bit of a diva actually. Sophie is a Maltese-Poodle mix, (malti-poo). Her previous owner showered her with love, good food, proper vet care, toys, beds, treats and blankets too! Unfortunately she has a health issue that prevents her from keeping Sophie any longer, and she asked the shelter to find a great 2nd home for Sophie. She may be nine, but she still can hop on the bed, or couch to cuddle, she enjoys long walks (in gentle weather), and is fine on stairs, up or down. She is very healthy, and has a beautiful coat. Sophie is fixed, microchipped, vaccinated, groomed, tested, and on preventions. We hope to find a calm home, with mature active people, since Sophie has never lived with children. If interested in adopting, please request an adoption application at MarysMutts05@gmail.com.

Story
Meet Charlie. The sweet senior was surrendered with his brother, Clyde, to our rescue by the only family they’ve ever known. While these two boys technically had a home, they were kept in the basement and did not have the care or engagement they deserved. Both dogs came into the rescue in dire need of dental work, both living with pain and infection. Clyde also had a heart murmur that needed evaluation. Both pups have since been fully vetted, had dental work, and been groomed. They live in a wonderful foster home, getting lots of love and attention and flourishing. They are both exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people. NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. They can be adopted as a pair or separately, so we are featuring each pup individually. Charlie’s little side grin will melt your heart immediately. He is an easygoing boy who is very connected to his people. He may be a senior, but he still has a bounce in his step when it’s food time or heading out for a walk. Every once in a while, he will get the zoomies and run up and down the hall as quickly as he can. He loves being part of a family and will greet you with joy and enthusiasm when you come home. He just wants to belong and have his people to love. Charlie is a low to moderate-energy dog and champion cuddler. He follows his foster mom from room to room and immediately jumps in her lap when she sits down. He enjoys the company of other dogs, so we think another laidback pup in his home would be ideal. He’s not one to engage in play and is not very focused on toys, but he’s a respectful pup with a live-and-let-live attitude and makes a great pup companion. He also enjoys his walks and has good leash skills. In his prior home, Charlie’s family kept their dogs in belly bands 24 x 7 and did not give them regular potty breaks, so Charlie had to re-learn the basics. His foster mom, Jen, has done a great job with him,  ensuring he has a consistent routine and regular potty breaks, and used a puppy pen to contain him when she couldn’t watch him. He’s responded well and hasn’t had any accidents in weeks. He will even  perk up from a deep sleep if you say the word “outside.” Charlie no longer wears a belly band, and she no longer uses the pen. At night, she leaves him loose, and he is fine sleeping in bed or on his bed next to you. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Charlie did well meeting the extended family. He might give a quick bark when company arrives to alert you, but as soon as everyone settles in, he’s exploring new laps to snuggle up to. Charlie is a sweet and calm pup who deserves to live out his golden years in a loving home. He has good house manners, doesn’t chew on things, makes a good pup companion, and loves to cuddle.  Apply today! These pups are exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people. NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. Since they can be adopted as a pair or separately, we are featuring each pup individually. Clyde is a charming 11-year-old Maltese who will melt your heart with his soft cuddles and soulful eyes. He is a very gentle, affectionate, and laid-back boy who loves to be near his people and enjoys cuddling with his dog buddies. His foster home is an active household with a mom, dad, teen son, and two larger dogs, and he does well with everyone. Clyde would thrive in a quiet, loving home with someone who understands the joy and fulfillment of caring for and loving a senior dog. Whether you’re retired, work from home, or just want a sweet companion to keep you company, Clyde is ready to bring his gentle presence into your life. He enjoys short, leisurely strolls or just hanging out at home — he’s very adaptable and the perfect buddy for someone who enjoys a slower pace of life. He would do best in a home with a laidback pup companion and really appreciates the companionship of a dog buddy. As a senior, Clyde has some health issues to manage. He has a grade 4 to 5 heart murmur, which requires daily medications. We had an echocardiogram done to assess his condition, and he was cleared for dental surgery. He’s doing well on the medication and already had his dental cleaning and extractions. He’s feeling so much better now; his mouth infections are gone, and he has a new pep in his step. Clyde’s care will include bi-yearly bloodwork (which all seniors should have) and regular echocardiograms to monitor his heart condition every 6 to 12 months. Because of his past home conditions, Clyde currently wears a belly band during the day to protect him from marking or pee accidents. He knows to potty outside and will always poop outside. We suspect he has a mix of learned behavior from his prior home, older age, and some of the medications he is on make him more prone to potty. He has already learned to hold it overnight and enjoys snuggling up with this foster family in bed, so we’ve seen improvement. His foster mom has also noted that he tends to have more accidents when change or activity happens…so we think he could continue to improve in a calm environment. Despite his medical needs, Clyde’s foster mom, Jenn, describes him as a lovable, low-maintenance companion who is happiest snuggled up beside you or snoozing in a cozy bed. Clyde is a calm little guy who doesn’t ask for much — just a quiet, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years. Clyde may have a few extra needs, but the love he has to give is immeasurable. If you have room in your heart and home for this sweet senior, consider Clyde and apply today. NOTE: Clyde is in Charlotte, NC but can be brought to DC metro upon request!   BREED ESTIMATE: Maltese GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  10.5 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 11 years old COAT TYPE:  Medium-long fluffy coat ADOPTION FEE: $400 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped/recent dental LOCATION: Charlotte, NC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.
