Story
Our family got sherlock as a baby in 2020. My father had just died & our 3 kids G14, B12, G9 needed a friend, & warm soul to share their love & grief and need for connection with. Sherlock was pocket size when we got him and is only 10 pounds big now.. he has grown up with the kids, Sherlock spends most of his day lounging on the back of couch, perched on high ground alerting us to any movements around the front house. Sherlock’s a very chill guy with classic small dog energy, he likes to protect & warn if visitors approach. He loves to come sit on your lap or next to you while you are on the couch. He’s pretty low maintenance - a 10 min walk every 3 days is all he ever craves. To go poddy he sits by the front door & hits bells. We dont have a fenced yard - we typically put him a leash on him to take him out. We got a sheepadoodle that’s 4 times Shersize & tries to herd him-nipping at his neck & body checking him. Poor Sherlok is now sad & defensive and deserves a more chill homelif

Blanche Maltese 5yo/ DOB 04/22/19 Approx 10lbs Spayed/Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Current on flea & heartworm prevention Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered/contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive there for a meet and greet. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications & FAQ about our adoption process can be found on our website. Blanche is a low key, quiet little girl. Until now, she has spent her time raising puppies for other families. Now, she has the chance to find her family & to be loved for the rest of her life. She has had very little human interaction, so humans are unfamiliar to her. She is very brave, and will smell your hand & take treats from you. She just needs some time to get used to movement & home noises. She will do best learning from other 4-legged siblings so we would like to see her find a home with some friends of similar size & energy level. She follows her foster siblings around, like in & out the door for potties. Going from room to room & different activities. Blanche is not yet ready to be a lap dog, and she isn't a dog that you can just pick up. She will need time to establish trust & relationships with her family. She is still not accepting of the harness and leash. Therefore, for her safety, a secure physically enclosed area is a must. She isn't an outdoor adventure dog; she doesn't need a yard that she can run around in. But she does need a very secure area to do her potty business. Never EVER should she be left in the yard alone. If you are looking for a quiet friend, Blanche would love to hang out with you! We hope to find her a human friend that is interested in spending the day with Blanche watching & observing the wonderful world around her. She is a dog that is finally getting her chance to lounge around & be a dog!
