Sherlock is ready for his furever home!! We rescued Sherlock from Harbor shelter back in December. Poor guy has had a rough go of things. It’s very obvious he was abused and has some trauma we’ve been working through. He spent several months with one of our trainers working to build confidence and has come a long way. Sherlock is now settled in with a foster and is doing very well. He’s around 2-3 years old and a poodle mix of sorts. He warmed up very quickly to his foster mom and is super affectionate. He takes a while longer to warm up to men, which is understandable. He will need patience there and someone committed to continuing to work through this and help him build more confidence around men. He LOVES his walks and other dogs. He follows the other dogs in his foster home around everywhere. He would do best with a confident doggie buddy in his furever home. He couldn’t care less about the cats in his foster home and has really settled in wonderfully. He loves his crate and does well in there for several hours at a time as needed. Sherlock will thrive in a patient home with another dog and loving people willing to continue to show him the world and that people aren’t so scary. In return you will get a velcro cuddle buddy who just wants to be your best friend. Once adoption is approved, dogs travel to the United States through legal and fully compliant international transport procedures. Video calls are available, and adopters can communicate in real time with our rescue team through official organizational channels and apps throughout the process. **Name: Rian Estimated Age: Approximately 6 years old (age is estimated) Gender / Spay Status: Female / Spayed Weight: 3 kg (about 6.6 lbs) Breed: Poodle **Background & Health Notes Rian was rescued from an illegal puppy mill on Ganghwa Island. Based on her condition and background, it is highly likely that she was used as a breeding dog and may have given birth multiple times. At the time of rescue, Rian did not appear to be in good health. However, with consistent care and attention from the rescue team, her overall condition has significantly improved, and she is now stable and well cared for. Her age is an estimate, as dogs from illegal breeding facilities rarely come with accurate records. The environment she lived in was extremely poor, and she has significant dental damage. This is a common characteristic seen in dogs rescued from puppy mills, often caused by repetitive stress behaviors such as biting and chewing metal cage bars over long periods of confinement. **Personality & Temperament Rian is a very gentle, calm, and affectionate dog who prefers staying close to her caregiver. She shows little interest in other animals and enjoys quiet companionship with people. She tolerates handling extremely well and allows touch anywhere on her body, making her safe and gentle even around children. Her energy level is low. Indoors, she is content to sit quietly and be petted, with no destructive behaviors. While she does enjoy walks, she does not require high levels of activity. She shows mild separation anxiety, but it is not severe and can be managed with routine and reassurance. **With Other Dogs: Generally neutral and uninterested. **With Cats: Generally neutral and uninterested. **With Children: Not aggressive at all.
