I am currently in a place where there are lots of unwanted dogs and not all of us here get the chance I might have to leave! But in order to help me out of here to catch the ride to WI on February 7th and arrive on February 8th, I need *both* a sponsor, and a WI foster home *or* a WI adopter! I have a place for now, but I can't stay here forever and I am worried. The rescue has put a hold on me to save my spot on the trip up north to WI, but now they need YOUR help to get me there - don't wait!!! Updated: 1/16/25 Dog Name: Pickles Sex: Female Spay Status: She is spayed  Estimated Breed Mix: Maltese/Terrier Mix Approximate Age: 1.5 years  Approximate Weight: 9 lbs Adoption Fee: $450 Description: Pickles and her two sweet babies were urgently in need of rescue and a safe place to stay, our Texas rescue partner stepped in quickly to make sure they wouldn’t have a grim fate! Pickles is so very sweet, she can be shy at first, likely because of the various sudden changes but she is absolutely adorable and ready for a second chance!   We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs once they're at least 6 months old. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. January 17, 2025, 5:39 pm

Story
Meet Marty, a complete sweetheart who loves to warm laps and cuddle! Marty is a middle-aged Maltese mix, about 9 lbs. He enjoys spending time outside exploring and playing with both his toys and friend Kaiya, whom he came into rescue with from the same home. If looking for a second dog Kaiya is also available and they do wonderful together, although adopting together is not required. An ideal home would include another dog and a loving family looking for a dog to spoil.

Story
Starr is a vert sweet little girl just released from a puppy mill where all she knew was a cage and her sole purpose was to make babies. She is learning that life in a home will be a wonderful thing, but will need time, love and patience as she blossoms into the dog she deserves to be. She would benefit from another small confident dog to help her along and show her how wonderful life is with a loving family. She is going outside to go potty very well on a schedule; she may benefit from a fenced yard depending on how she does on a leash. We will update as foster mom learns more about her. She is being fostered in Racine County, WI

Story
Reggie is an 8-year-old, male Maltipoo who weighs in at about 8 lbs. Reggie will need to go to a family without young kids. He would do best in a quiet household with owners who are willing to take things at his pace. Reggie is extremely anxious and fearful but has made amazing progress in the first 24 hours. Right now we are working on consistency and building trust. Reggie is house-trained (belly band in first video was just a precaution), walks great on a leash, loves his walks, sleeps in his crate at night without objection, and knows basic commands like come, sit, and stay. If you have the patience and understanding needed to work with an anxious, fearful dog, he will be your loyal, loving companion always. Currently being fostered in Brookfield, WI.

Story
About Me: Name: Aaran and Aaron Breed (or best guess): Maltese Approximate Age: 6 yr and 8 yr Gender: Female and Male  Approximate Weight: 7 lb Adoption Fee: $495 each or $800 for the pair Requirements: patient adopter, fenced yard/potty area best Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Aaran and Aaron came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use them for breeding.  They are still a little shy but learning to trust humans more every day.  This little pair loves to be together and will howl if they are separated into different kennels, so they would be so happy to find a home together.  If interested please fill out the preadoption application on our website www.bichonrescues.com Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS February 1, 2025, 6:36 pm
